Ratings and play counts not synced to iTunes

I just got a 2G iPod nano 2GB. Whenever I add ratings or increase the play count for songs on the iPod and then sync to iTunes, the ratings and play counts are obliterated by whatever iTunes has for its data. Example: I make a 5 star smart playlist in iTunes with Live update, then while listening to iPod I rate some songs with 5 stars. They show up in the playlist on iPod since they have 5 stars, but once I sync with iTunes again, the stars are wiped out and the smart playlist is back to exactly what is was in iTunes.
It seems to me that syncing should take whichever has newer information (iPod or iTunes) and propagate it to the other. I read some topics from others that had this same problem and people have repeatedly stated that Automatic syncing must be enabled and not manually manage music. I don't have room to put all my music on the iPod, but I have enabled automatic syncing with selected playlists. My question is this: does this count as automatic updating for the purposes of ratings and play counts being copied to iTunes when I sync with iPod? Or does automatic sync need to be for the entire library in order for ratings and play counts to be propagated? Thanks!

it should do. green eyes is a second gen nano, i'm syncing selected playlists only, and my play counts and ratings are updating in the smart playlists.
are you playing the songs through completely? i'm noticing that i only get a playcount update if i've completely played the song. (the ratings changes go through regardless of whether or not i've completely played a song on green eyes, though.)

Why are my podcasts not syncing with Apple TV when all devices connect to the same Apple iD?

Does anybody have an idea as to why my recently updated Apple TV does not sync my podcasts from my Apple iD. It's supposed to, it's not doing it, and it's very annoying.
This is only half the aggravation; the other half is that all my podcasts have been deleted automatically twice(no apparent reason other than perhaps a bug in iOS 7.0.2 / 11A501).
This one I have managed to comeup with sort of a temporary fix while Apple fixes this: I made a copy/backup of the "Podcasts" folder inside the "iTunes Media" which in turn is in the "iTunes" folder Within the "Music" folder in my Mac. When my Podcasts are deleted, I just drag the backup "Podcasts" folder I created into the My Pocasts in iTunes.
Apple please fix it.

Why are my playlists not syncing from iTunes to my iPhone since updating to iTunes 11.0.2?

My selected playlists are not syncing from Itunes to my iPhone. As a music teacher this is extremely problematic as I use my phone as my primary music player. Anyone know why all music syncs but not the playlists?

First, you're not talking to Apple - this is a users' forum. Second, sync operations work one way - iTunes to iDevice; create and modify your playlists in iTunes, then sync them to your iPhone.

Why are my tags not syncing for a shared email account? IE One person tags an email as "Work" but it does not show on other users Thunderbird.

Subject says it all for the most part.
A shared email account we'll call "[email protected]" is not syncing tags across other end users Thunderbird. User A will tag an email as Work but it will not sync/show on anyone else's application. I've read that Thunderbird stores tags locally now? Is there a way to sync them up to our IMAP server? Or would we have to revert to a previous version of Thunderbird (if so which)?

the issue is probably that the server does not support tags..... Thunderbird stores them locally, but syncs them were the server supports it.

Why Are My Apps Not Syncing

I just updated my iPad software, synced iTunes, and the preview shows the apps on my iPad, but when the sync is complete, I'm not seeing the apps on the iPad.
Secondarily, from iTunes, I can't click "sync apps" when I have the iPad plugged into the computer. So I'm not able to add new check marks next to apps I might want to sync.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried swiping from screen to screen on the iPad to see if the apps appear anywhere at all. Did you try the spotlight feature on the iPad to see if they are there somewhere?
Do you have Restrictions enabled on your iPad? If so, that may be why the Sync Apps option will not work.

Why are Apps still not syncing between my iPhone 4S and iPad 4?

I have a new iPad 4 and I also have an iPhone 4S. I have enabled 'Automatic Downloads' on both, but for some reason, I can download Apps on one device and they're not showing up on the other. The only thing I can figure is that maybe some of the Apps downloaded on the iPad, for example, aren't compatible with the iPhone 4S and therefore they don't automatically download. Or, and I hope note, there's a glitch in the system :-(
I like to have all my stuff sync'd to the extent possible, but this automated App synchronization doesn't really seem to be happening as advertised.
And yes, I did go into iTunes on my PC and enable the automatic downloads there as well on the Preferences tab.
Some example Apps that didn't download from my iPad to my iPhone are USA Today, Men's Health Mag, UPS and Quick Scan barcode scanner.
Any help is much appreciated.

I may recall that you might have to charge your device in order for the automatic download to work. But I'm not 100% sure, it is worth trying out.

Why are my contacts not syncing

When I enter a new contact on my phone, I am finding that when I sync the contact are not showing up in Outlook. I have checked the settings, and they are showing that contact should be syncing. I suspect that it is something to do with iCloud which seems to be very selective with the calendars as well
Can any one help, I am very confused!

Why are my contacts not syncing from my iphone to my mac?

I enter phone numbers on my iphone, but they don't seem to be showing up on my computer, even after I have synced. I have no idea why. I'm thinking of shutting off iCloud (I don't see any benefit to it right now, unless I'm using it wrong), will that help? I'm getting very frustrated having to enter contacts twice (one in my phone when I'm out and about, and another time if I want it on my computer's address book).

However, when I open the folder indicated by the article, the photos are NOT there.
The last time my Photo Stream folder updated was April 2014. For awhile, my photos were uploading to a folder called iCloud Photos, with a sub-folder called Photo Stream. The last time that one updated was September 2014. I have the latest version of iTunes and iOS.
So, again, I ask - why aren't my photos synchronizing with my laptop via Photo Stream? I have to connect the phone with a WIRE to my laptop and then I can backup my photos. (Which I do frequently, anyway, in order to save the photos permanently.)
Why don't you guys invent something like Flickr - that AUTOMATICALLY synchronizes photos from my extremely expensive iPhone 6 to my other devices? That would be so handy.
Sorry for being annoyed, but it's annoying. Every time I try to do something with a photo, I have to figure out how to get it off my phone. I email, message, download, save to Dropbox, save to Flickr. It's ridiculous. If Photo Stream worked, I could just use that - it would be so SIMPLE I might actually be able to get to the project, instead of wasting time messing with the stupid photos.
If there's something I'm doing wrong, I wish someone would help me.

Why are my iPads not syncing books?

I have an original iPad and an iPad 3 and, after the recent updates, two weird things are occurring. One is that, when I purchase a book on one iPad, it no longer automatically downloads and installs it on the other. It does download it, but it is in the cloud, and you have to install it yourself. Prior to the changes, it automatically installed it into the library. I've checked my settings, and they seem right. Is this normal now or what? Second, when my wife uses her iPad 3 to read a book, sometimes out of the blue it asks for the username and password. When she hits cancel, it just goes away but the iPad still allows her to read the book. Once again, I've checked my settings, and everything seems normal. What's going on here? Can anyone help?

Thanks for your attempted help guys, but it has not been fruitful. I will take a couple of my chargers, cords and iPads to the local store and see if they can (1) tell me why the iPads aren't charging, (2) how to differentiate Apple chargers from non-Apple chargers and (3) help me replace whatever I need to replace. What I know is that in the future, whenever I pull a charger out of an Apple box (purchased from Apple), I'm going to mark it with a big permanent "A" on the side, because all my chargers are identical, but I'm pretty sure that some were purchased off-market.
I'll publish what I learn.

I have put appointments on my iPhone. They have been 'pushed to my iPad. However these same appointments don't appear on my iMac or on my iCloud calendar. I'm confused... Should I be doing something differently?

If events added to your iPhone calendar aren't appearing on icloud.com, check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar (in the Calendars section). Is this set to an iCloud calendar?

I took four video clips while on a trip this week. Two are oriented the right way (playing wide on the device and imported correctly). The other two are Tall and not oriented right. Orientation is 90 degrees to the right. I don't know why this is happening on occasions. Even some pictures I took did the same **** thing. It's weird. And I can't figure it out. The camera is held the way I want the pictures and videos to be recorded and played but something internal is turning these videos and pictures 90 degrees clockwise.

Why are animated gifs not displaying animations in the preview?
My coworkers and I are not seeing a animation in the preview pane in Adobe Bridge CS6 even when clicking the play button in the preview window. However, we do see a graphic of the first frame and one person sees 1 frame when clicking play and one other frame and then the animation stops, however, that is not the complete animation.
I'm using Windows 7 32 bit
My coworkers are using a mac.
One coworker has apple OS Mountain Lion with a Intel Quad-Core Xeon – 64 bit system.
Is this fixable or in the works as a patch? Otherwise we have to open these docs in a browser in order to view them properly.

I've just come to the realization that some animated gifs do play fine and others do not. A coworker of mine suggests that if it's an animation made via Adobe Photoshop, it'll work in bridge but will not if it's made using something else.
