Why are sections of my video exporting as a bright red screen?
I am using adobe elements for the first time on my macbook pro.
I have been editing a .mov file which was recorded on my canon powershot sx40.
The editing went very smoothly and everything played fine whilst editing, no rendering indications, etc as it was a very simple edit.
However, when I exported the movie, both to a quicktime movie, and to a dvd, sections of my video dissappeared and were replaced by a bright red screen.
I have no idea why this is happening or how to rectify it. Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions?

What you are seeing in Edit Menu/Project Settings/General is perfectly normal. So is the what you are seeing for Edit menu/Project Settings/Capture and Video Render there. So, I am not sure where Hunt is coming from with the HDV comment.
I have looked at a sample of video from your brand/model camera via a QuickTime export and do not see the problem that you describe. The sample video is
1280 x 720
29.97 frames per second
AVCHD video compression with a .mp4 file extension.
I used the Premiere Elements 11 project preset of NTSC AVCHD AVCHD LITE 720p30 which appears to be what you or the program selected as well.
Consider creating a new project with the same NTSC AVCHD AVCHD LITE 720p30 project preset and importing only a video clip. Do nothing to the video clip and export it to a H.264.mov file saved to the hard drive. Determine if the red areas appear in this video.
What did you do with the Bitrate Settings? Leave without check mark or with check mark and filled in bitrate in kbps (kilobits per second)?
We will be watching for your follow up. I will look at the DVD-VIDEO side of this later.
Thanks.

Why are some jpg images scrambled when they appear in my screen saver? The same images look fine in Preview and Finder. Some images appear scrambled in the screen saver 'preview' window and the actual screen saver. Other jpg images look fine.
The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos. However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled. What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

CS3 exporting drop outs and red screen flashes when exporting via Media Encoder
Hi forum
I have been using Premiere Pro CS3 for a long time on my dual core PC with no issues. Suddenly, I am now getting a major issue i MUST get sorted asap for a client is waiting for the final video.
It is a HDV (1080i, 25fps) project/timeline. An 8 minute video has been put together in this and every time I try to export as either MPEG2 (Blu Ray) or WMV, I am getting pixelation in certain places usually around certain cuts, or horrible red blocky pixels filling up the screen for a second or two. They seem to come always at the same point. They don't happen when i render the timeline or show up when playing the edit itself in the timeline - just when i playback the exported video in premiere or in Windows Media Player.
To try a workaround I exported the whole video as high quality MPEG2 (blu ray - 30mbps), which I brought into a new sequence, then I exported small sections where this problem was happening as Uncompressed Microsoft AVI and called them "patch 1", "patch 2" etc. and brought them back in and overlayed over where the problems were occuring. The short Uncompressed AVI patches seem to have exported with no glitches, so theoretically I thought I had a clean good timeline in my new sequence made up of the MPEG 2 video overlayed in the dodgy places with uncompressed AVI "patches". However, trying to export a new MPEG 2 master from this has created the same problems, in the same places!!! Still drop outs and still those horrid red flashes filling the screen. Not always as bad, and some places where there were problems are ok, but I am still left with most of the problems still there.
I am now trying to export the whole video as an AVI uncompessed but dont know if this will work and will take a very long time.
I do have Saphire plugins, but they are not being used in this new sequence so therefore could that be a possible problem? I thought perhaps it was the brightness/contrast filter etc so removed that from some of the problem areas, and it helped on some of them, but not on others, so not sure its anything to do with my plug in or filters.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, JamesThis topic is about a year old, but I thought I would reply because I just experienced this problem very recently and stumbled upon an easy solution.
Problem: When using Adobe Media Encoder to create an HD or .m2v video file, a bright red screen will flash followed by a mashup of red blocks/pixels somewhere within the file you've just encoded. This phenomenon lasts for exactly 10 frames before clearing up. Most likely, you won't see this problem until you import the encoded file into Adobe Encore. It shows up on the timeline, the preview monitor and the DVD itself. It occurs on edits that the system reads as being corrupt or when a flash bulb goes off from a still camera. Both instances make the encoding process go haywire.
Solution: Encode your HD or .m2v file with CBR (1-pass) bitrate encoding rather than VBR (2-pass). Don't worry about losing any quality in your video or creating unnecessarily large file sizes with your new renders. I guarantee you won't see much of a difference, if any. I can't explain why this solution works. It just does.
Hope this helps you as much as it did me. -
Why are files going offline when exporting from premiere
Hi all
I've got a feature length documentary of 2 hours. All files are online but upon exporting from premiere via media encoder the finished file has 'media offline' on some shots. I have NO idea why this is happening. All clips are online on the timeline.
I'm exporting both blu-ray mpeg and dvd mpeg. The project is on an external hard drive. Can anyone help this is a nightmare!?
Will exporting via premiere pro direct fix this problem?
ThanksCan't you see how the video is pixelated? Mainly around the nose and forehead?
Nope. Looks fine when I watch it. -
Why are the iPhone/Apple TV export presets better quality than QT h.264
I've been exporting a lot of content to the web lately and we use Compressor to batch encode most of it, but one thing has always puzzled/frustrated me! If you export using one of the Apple device presets, then the quality of output is pretty **** good, and these presets are all H.264 based. But if you export as a QT file with the H.264 codec, with all the same settings the quality is noticeably worse!
Does Apple have some special H.264 encoder hidden way for use in theIr presets?
Its really starting to frustrate us as we want to get that some quality but have a bit more flexibility with the data rate and resolutions.
Any ideas? That's why I find this so puzzling. The extra blockiness is VERY apparent when watching the video played back. The main difference I see from the Media Info analysis is that F4V says "CABAC/3 ref frames" instead of just "2 ref frames". I suppose my main question is whether or not its possible to get the same quality in an mp4 file.

Why are the file sizes of exported jpegs so small?
I shoot raw, studio portraits mostly. I import to Lightroom 5 as DNG and then edit. Upon exporting as jpegs, the file sizes end up way too small, some of the cropped and/or black & white conversions as small as 560 KB, even with slider to 100%. Un-cropped color photos are ending up from 1.5 to 3MB. What am I doing wrong?
Jim,
Thank you for your response. I think some of the difficulties in this thread are that there have been more than one person reporting issues, which may or may not be exactly the same or different from the initial one reported by the original poster. Then, anyone else commenting can easily intermix bits and pieces from any or all of the other posters interrelated issues. Also, I should have added to my last response in clarification what I meant about the overall dimensions. I was referring specifically to inches, not file size, not resolution.
My very first post was a thank you to Rusty's post for his comment about how he had noticed his Resolution setting had been changed from ppi to ppcm. I didn't say anything about printing. In fact, I never even stated what my issue was. I was merely thanking him for sharing information. So, for anyone to tell me that I didn't know what my issue is, that I didn't understand was quite laughable to me. And then the other two posters were almost equally ridiculous, who said that since they didn't experience the same conditions as myself and another person, it couldn't be a programming error.
Trust me, I understand explicitly about resolution, image size, dimensions, file size and how they are all interrelated. Resolution is essentially the density of pixels. (And I'm still used to dpi vs ppi, that's how long I've been working with the concept.) I often help other people understand in whichever mode is most comfortable for them to grasp the knowledge of how to know what size image they need/want to capture and print depending on the types of measurements shown on their equipment used and by whomever they might be working with for finish work.
I have a set process, I have set image sizes, I have an action recorded in Photoshop to shrink my images to 24" x 36" and save them in the proper folder with the proper name and another to shrink them to 8" x 12" and place them in the proper folder with the proper name. I am meticulous, so when the first image imported into Photoshop and it was 18.898" x 28.346", un-cropped, I couldn't figure it out. The file size was still just as large, the resolution was still 72, I hadn't changed any settings in Lightroom or Photoshop, the ONLY thing I had done was install an update. It didn't make sense to me that with the pixel dimensions still being the normal size, all of the sudden the inch dimensions were smaller. And I did need to be able to have the capability for a larger print size if/when I do want to print.
I hope that I'm being clear now. I really was just trying to post a thank you initially. I hadn't expected all of this excess.
I apologize for the troll statement. It wasn't meant for you directly, it was more for the grouping of comments which in my opinion didn't seem to be useful for the discussion and were instead just baiting. I shouldn't have allowed my bad mood to permeate my own comment regardless. I am also sorry for any other statements I made which might have come across wrong. I was trying to be funny with my first comment about programmers, but it might not have come across that way. I hadn't expected the rude and unnecessary comment back which I received, and that's where the trollish comments came from. That's why I only responded to that person once, despite the string of poking posts. -
My pictures and videos are shown correctly in my phone and when I play videos in itunes they are upright, but the location they are saved on my computer they are side ways. There has got to be a setting somewhere to fix this. Please help.
Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go. -
When I export/convert my Nikon D7000 based raw files to Tiff files using Lightroom, in preparation for printing, the document size shrinks but the file size increases(see top image below)! This is despite not ticking the 'Resize to Fit' box on the export pop up.I know the file size will increase going from a raw to a Tiff file but I don't understand why this happens when the print size shrinks. This is even more puzzling if I export the same file as a raw file (+its related .xmp file) to another folder then save the file in Elements 9 as a Tiff folder since the size stays as it shoiuld be (see middle image below) I think it must be something to do with the way I am exporting directly to a Tiff format as if I export it as a .dng it still retains its size (see bottom image)
Tiff image exported from Lightroom as a Tiff file then just viewed in Elements 9
Raw file exported from Lightroom as a NEF raw file (with XMP) file then just saved as a Tiff in Elements 9
NEF raw image converted to .dng file through Lightroom & viewed in CS2Sorry, I think I've obviously confused the issue by not comparing like with like so here are two versions of the exactly the same image, one a Tiff and one a dng. Both images are 6016 x 4016 pixels, 300 pixels per cm and were simply exported from Lightroom. If I were to simply print them without resizing, one image would be significantly larger than the other. Why does this happen is what I really want to know? If I was to resize the smaller version of the image to be the same size as the larger one, would there be any loss of detail in the print? I would expect there to be as CS2 would create data to fill in the gaps resulting in a file that was 859.2M in size.

Why are colors of embedded videos opened with acrobat different to original files?
Hello,
I generated a videoclip in Premiere CC in different formates ( mp4, mov; flv.... ) and embedded it in an Indesign document. From there I generated an interactive PDF. Opening the file in Acrobat, the colors of the video are different as in a videoplayer like quicktime. Opening the pdf in a browser like safari, the colors are correct. Alternative I embedded the video with acobat pro but the result was the same like before. What is the reason for this problem? Do I have to mange some special colorsetting in the video or are there some presettings to be done in Acrobat? If you open System Preferences / Displays / Color can
you change the color profile to others in the list?
Or, do you get a "beep" and no change?
I can change the color profile. -
Ok who has been having problems everytime you want to download your videos and pictures they download sideways and videos too, please help
The photos and videos are not imported that way. The problem lies with whatever photo/video viewing software you are using with Windoze which is ignoring or not recognizing the photo/video orientation info which is included with the photo/video EXIF data by the iPhone.
I've never had this problem but I use a Mac which doesn't ignore photo/video orientation info included with photo/video EXIF data. -
Why Are Stills/Graphics Shaking After Export in Premiere Pro?
Working with CS5.5, my exported video is showing the still-graphic with a weird shimmering effect. I need help resolving this issue ASAP.
Original video is AVCHD but the video seems to be OK. It's only the titling and and other graphics that do not contain motion.
Other details:
- The final output to the preset 1080p 29.97 HQ selection. Also tried the Youtube HD preset and same thing happened.
- Using Windows, ASUS machine
- No other boxes selected in the export window
- Some of the graphics were created in AE, but others were just text using the Premiere titling feature
I have seen this problem in the past on occasion with other computers and have never been able to understand the issue.
Please help. Thanks!I don't know if this will help, but I would recommend using 1920 x 1080 with Square Pixels.

I movie quits unexpectedly during editing and publishing
from Jasonryan1. It relates to a corrupted item existing in his project. And in his attempt to troubleshoot it, he suspected it was a Title he placed in the Project itself. Once he deleted the corrupted Title he was able to successfully export it. As to which item is causing instability, that's a tricky process to narrow down. And I would agree it seems unlikely all your projects could have some corrupted element in them. But it might work to concentrate on the simplest project which is showing the symptoms you describe. Duplicate that project and start deleting pieces of it and trying to add a Title to it and see if iMovie crashes. -
We need an app for the PEF-scale on screen converter in our iPhones and not only in our computors.
A converter between the new PEF Meter Mini Wright EN13826-scale and the old one Wright-McKerrow-scale for to be able to corectly evaluate the standard of our lungs.
To be honest!
It is a scandal that it is not already a free iPhone app for the on screen converter....You should contact the company that makes the one for your computer and ask them to make an app for your iPhone. Apple only makes a couple of apps. The other million are made by people like you and I or by companies and are posted to the app store.
