Why are sent emails not stored in the Sent Items folder in iOS7

Why are sent emails not stored in the Sent Items folder?

Thanks, Matt.
I'm now starting to notice the emails that don't come in order are all posted from sites that use multiple platforms to send the same message; email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm thinking the hold up is possibly at their end.

Why are my emails not deleting from all devices when deleted from one?  I have iCloud mail set up and turned on. I have ipad2, iPhone 5 and a Mac desktop. What am I doing wrong?  Thank you.

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud.  If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices.  If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't.  (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

How can i set up my macbook pro that the sent emails show up in the sent folder?

look at the Preferences and open the "Mailbox Behavior"  maybe the sent mail is being stored on the server?

  • Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in Home Directory? My Mail alerts, etc

Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in my Home Directory? Since upgrading to Mountain Lion most of my sounds are not working, in my Mail alerts, etc.

Did you put any sound files there? Because if you didn't, that will explain why it's empty.
The ~/Library/Sounds folder is where any sound files that you add go, and they are only available to you as the "logged in" user (if you have other users with their own accounts, they each have their own ~/Library/Sounds folder). Apple doesn't put anything there.
The sounds that come with Mac OS X will either be in the /Library/Sounds folder (which is the shared location for all users) or the /System/Library/Sounds folder (don't mess around with anything in the /System folder!).
But I doubt your problem has anything to do with the sound files. Try deleting your sound preferences file, or even just clicking around in the Sound system preferences until they start working again (seriously - I had one Mac that had some audio problems after upgrading, and just turning things off and on a few times eventually worked. It seemed somehow tied to Dictation, so try twiddling those settings too).

  • Sent email not stored (on IMAP server)

    Hi,
I browsed through a lot of discussions and found that a lot of other people are having the same problem.  I still couldn't find a solution to my problem in these discussions though.
My Mail app (6.0) is set to 'store sent message on server' and never delete it.  I selected the correct folder (left pane) to 'use this mailbox for' sent emails in the 'Mailbox' menu.
Still, when sending an email, it is not saved in the 'sent' mailbox and I can't find it on the webmail either.  It is delivered to its receiver though.
I called my ISP and they are telling me it is my Mail application (can be right, as it works perfectly with Thunderbird).  Apple is telling me it is my ISP...
Meanwhile, I still have this issue and I realy would like to use Mail instead of Thunderbird.  Please help.

ok, problem solved.  It seems this was a problem with my ESP not granting full acces or writing privileges to Apples Mail application.  I was tired of this provider anyway for multiple reasons; so I switched.  Now it works fine.

  • Email sent but not found in the Sent folder

I just sent an email with Mail on my new Mavericks OS, I heard the "sent" sound, yet the email is not visible in the "Sent" folder and no error is displayed.
Where is it? Has it really been sent? 15 minutes have passed now, but it is still not visible and I'm still online and connected to internet.
I believe something similar might have happened to me already in the past.
    Thanks.

The email was sent from my mac.com account and it is not visible also when I access the Sent folder on iCloud.

  • Items are not moved to the deleted items folder when they expire

    Hey
I have Exchange 2010 Server (Version: 14.01.0438.000) and configured a retention policy with one retention tag for the
inbox that moves items after 365 days to the deleted items folder. I have assigned this policy to one Mailbox to see if it works. It doesn't. :)
All Items are "stamped" correctly with a expiry date. And the Messages show now "This item is expired" for example:
I made the Policy a week ago and waited to see if the items will be moved but nothing happen until today. The Application Log shows no errors or warnings. I already used "Start-ManagedFolderAssistant"
    multiple times....
what is wrong here? And how do i track the problem down?
i also checked all the other threads regarding the same or alike issues. But couldn't find anything that would halp me.

  • Mail in OS Mavericks HELP!!! Why do some of my emails not send despite the sent sound playing?

    Dear Mac Community
I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.9.1 and everything is fully updated.
I use the Mac Mail programme to send and receive Gmail emails as I have done for many years.
Recently, I started to notice a worrying problem. Every 10 or 20 emails or so, (I haven't noticed a specific regularity), I write an email and press send. The mail seems to send fine and I get the sound notifying me it has left the outbox. However, when searching for a reply, I find that in fact it is not in sent items, and it has only been located in Archive - Gmail (all mail) or Trash - Gmail, and not in any sent folder. Indeed, when I ask the recipient if it has been received they say no.
Since the mail programme is telling me at the time of sending there isn't a problem, how can I ensure that all emails are sending correctly without checking 'sent items' every time I send one, which would be deeply frustrating. I've only noticed this a few times because key emails haven't been replied to - but it's possible that there have been several other incidences I haven't been aware of.
I don't know if this is related, but another similar problem occasionally arises, whereby an email pops in on my phone (iPhone 5s also using mac mail programme for gmail) but not on the computer. In fact I can't see it unless I click on the 'Gmail Archive' folder where it appears, and copy it manually into my inbox. The regularity of this seems to be equal to that of the former problem, which is why I wondered if it could be related.
    All help gratefully appreciated
    Thanks

In that case your email provider's server is having difficulties to deliver the message to the recipients email provider server.
This has got nothing to do with Thunderbird.
There is little you can do though. You may have the recipient to check with his email provider if they have any issues.

  • Why are security headers not visible when viewing "sent" mail for mail sent with S/MIME certificates?

I am using an S/MIME certificate to sign my emails using Mail on Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  I have a trusted S/MIME certificate for each of my email accounts.  The certs and private keys are properly installed in the keychain.  I am able to successfully send signed (and optionality encrypted) email and the recipients are all all receiving the emails showing a trusted signed email without having to acknowledge or trust the signature.  So technically the certificates are working.  Obviously the encryption option is only offered when I also have the recipients certficate in my keychain.
What I am noticing is that when I look in my sent items - (regardless of which email I used as the "sender") - I don't see any indication in the mail headers that the mail was sent with a signed certificate - even though I know the recipient is seeing that the mail is signed with a cert.  I have no way of telling whether I sent the mail as "signed" or "unsiged".  The default is to use the certificate for all outbound emails - unless I specifically uncheck the secure signing option before sending.  In mail that I recieve - sent from others with certs or sent from one of my email accounts to the other - I see the the certificate indication in the email header.
On rare occasion - I do see the certificate when viewing sent mail - but only for  random sent mails - and so far I believe I have only seen the certificate show up in mail that is sent from my iCloud account.  I can send subsequent mail from iCloud - and still not see the certificate in the sent items.
Why am I not seeing the Security Header showing the certificate when viewing mail that I have sent in my sent items folder?  Is there some setting that I am not seeing that controls this - or is this a bug in Mac Mail?  Also why does the security header show up for just a handful of sent emails - when hundreds of signed emails have been successfully sent.
Any help would be appreciated.  The behavior is the same on my other Macs - at least the ones on which the certificates are also installed.
Also - I don't have my certs installed on my iPhone yet - so I can't tell on the iPhone if the certs are showing up in the sent folder - but I can see the certs on mail that I send to myself from the Mac but receive on the iPhone.
    ~Scott

I stopped using the S/MIME certs and stopped signing my emails.  Too many recipients were receiving them as "attachements" especially if the recipients email account was on an Exchange server.  My certs have since expired and I have not done anything to further analyze the situation.  My original post was over a year ago and I have long since been on Mavericks.
To: iddontknowwhoiamsowhat ... I am not totally following your response.  You say you are seeing the exact same issue - yet you are also saying you can look at the sent mails from os x and ios - does this mean that you see the security badges on the sent emails in both os x and ios?  I assume you are on Mavericks?

please help me how can i find the message body of the original message from Exchange.
    Best regards,
    Najim.

    Hi Najim,
Before we go further, I'd like to know if all the emails which fail to be delivered are missing in the sent items.
If yes, I recommend you check if there is any transport rule to make it.
If not, I recommend you try the messgae tracking log to monitor the missing emails. The undelivered emails may be stuck in the queues and you can use the commend get-queue to check it.

  • Why are some emails not displaying remote images

There have been a few threads on similar subjects but I haven't found a solution, or even a reason for the problem I'm seeing.
I've the display remote images option to "on" and in most of my emails images are shown. But for all the messages from one domain no images are ever displayed. The URLs are valid because the images show on my iMac in Thunderbird. On my iPhone I get a placeholder (box) with either a question mark or the "alt" text for the image.
Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing the problem?

Sent messages moved to the account's Sent mailbox indicates the message was successfully sent by the SMTP server used to send the messages with the account but is no guarantee the message will be accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server.
The recipient's incoming mail server may be incorrectly flagging messages sent by this SMTP server as junk (messages sent via webmail access for the account does not use an SMTP server) and with the large amount of spam being circulated, a return email error message from the recipient's incoming mail server is no longer always provided if the message was not accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server or when flagged as junk by the incoming mail server.
This is not a problem with the Mail application. The recipients reporting this problem need to check with the email account provider for their account.

  • Why are my emails being saved in the cloud?

    Hi kids,
for some reason, Thunderbird is not directly storing my emails on my computer. when I go to "sent" Ai have to wait for them to be downloaded from "somewhere"
I do not want this program to be attached to the "cloud" in any fashion other than for direct sending and receiving of emails.
    How is this achieved?
    Thank you

I dont think that is the answer I am looking for.is not saving
the Thunderbird program is not saving sent emails on my computer directly. For some reason when I go to the sent folder, I have to wait for them to download.
additionally it is constantly trying re down load all the emails previously received.
Previously it did not do this. I reinstalled my windows system a month or two ago and then installed the new version of Thunderbird and this started happening.

Sounds like you picked up some Malware.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
