Why are some InDesign previews large and others small?

I seem to save the individual files out (they are the same physical dimensions) yet some have large previews in Bridge and others have small previews in Bridge. Any ideas? Thanks!

It seems to be connected to whether or not you saved Preview images when you originally saved the files.
Re-opening and re-saving in CS4 should solve the problem.

Blue messages are iMessages (i.e., messages sent via Wifi to other Apple devices)
Green messages are SMS messages (i.e., messages sent via your Cellphone to non-Apple devices, or when Wifi isn't available for Apple devices)
P.S. Apple devices using iMessage only.

Why are some picture files img and some pict?

New to this and trying to learn.. looking at my images in iphoto.. I see some are img and some are pict.
1) Should they be one or the other?
2) How would I have files of different types when I import the same way and from the same camera?
3) Lastly.. some small images (or thumnails) show the image.. some only show as sort of a document with JPEG on it. Why and can I get these to show the image?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
1 - Where are you seeing these extensions?
2 - What camera are you using and are you shooting RAW?
3 - Again, where are you seeing these icons? Are you seeing both in the same folder or in different folders (assuming you're viewing in the Finder)? Make sure that in the Finder's View->Show View Options menu window the checkbox to show icon preview is checked for all folders.

.FLV files ..why do some play in HTML and others don't?

hi,
I am using dreamweaver 8 to embed 'FLV videos into html
webpages.
the problem is that when I embed and test some flv files, the
player shows up on the page and the videos play fine,
but when I try with a couple of other flv files, these files
do not work - a blank screen shows up (though when I right-click on
the screen where the video player is supposed to be, the flash
drop-down menu appears).
I know that the Size of the files is not why these files are
not working, and I have the latest version of flash player
installed. Also, I'm sure I have not made a mistake in the code,
and I suspect that it is something to do with difference/s in the
files themselves... ?
If you need any further info, please let me know.
this is quite frustrating - so please help.

Curious - why can some see web page and others cannot?

I've had a couple people tell me that the link that I have provided for my website (a cut and paste of the URL address) doesn't work and the error msg is that the page does not exist.
Others can view the site just fine.
I have, until recently, also been able to view my site without issue but I live in China and it is not unusual for there to be sites temporarily blocked from time to time. I have not been able to bring up my site and thought that this was just due to one of these fun times. But the person not able to access the site is in the US.
So my question is, what other things could bring up an error msg like that? Since it is a cut and past issue, it can't really be a mistyping of the address so looking for any other things that could cause this.

Problem sort of solved.
However, the person who was having difficulty wasn't able to click on the full address URL but when I gave him the shortened version (the version that comes up on iWeb when you are asked if you want to publish it) it was fine. Not really sure why one works and not the other but a solution was at least found.
Posting this in case anyone else runs into a similar situation.

Why are some items connected wireless and some are not

I have Airport extreme and an Airport acting as an extender. I'm using a cable modem connected via ethernet. We have an iMac, iPad, Macbook, 3 iPhones and a Kendle. Some items will be connected to the internet automatically, no problem. But some will not. When I reboot the modem, then the items that previously were not connected now are and the the other items are not. Confusing. I have tried going through Network and Airport Utility, but no help.

This would appear to be a fault with your modem not with the Extreme. Try calling your ISP for help.

FireFox 4 - why are my app tabs large and why do I not have a new app tab - the one with the plus symbol

I just downloaded FireFox 4 and my tab bar at the top does not look like it should. The tabs are all large, I want just a small tab. I'm also missing the new tap - the one with the plus symbol.

I just installed Firefox 4 and I had the same problem. To fix this is simple. You must drag the "add tab" from the modify toolbar options. If you do not see the add tab from within the modify toolbar options container. It's probably that it's already resting on the personal toolbar (just below the home icon). If so, drag the add tab icon to the main tab toolbar and the plus (+) tab will apear.

I have Adobe acrobat 9 pro why do some files open automatically and other do not.

when I save a file as a pdf. and go to the folder the file only opens if I select it. When I download a file as a pdf it opens automatically in the same folder. How do I get all files to open automatically.

The options on the save are typically either in the printer properties (if printing to the Adobe PDF printer) or in the Acrobat preferences if using PDF Maker in such programs as WORD. The button is included to allow opening on creation. If it is opening on download, that is typically based on how your browser is set up to call software for the file types being downloaded.

Why do some processes show jdbcclient and others actual hostname?

When using the v$session etc our DBA's notice that whilst a lot of applications will show the actual hostname a process is running from or where the connection to the database is coming from our processes just show jdbcclient or something very very general.
Anybody know why that is the case since we believe we're using the latest 10.2.0.1.0 JDBC thin driver.

From what I have seen, the default in the drivers is very general. Changing this is just a connection property, although an undocumented one.
Try adding the connection properties 'v$session.program' or 'v$session.process'. How you populate these are up to you.

Why are some songs only available for other countries iTunes Stores

I have tried to purchase some songs from the French ITunes Store, but I got an alert saying I had to switch over to the US store to do so. I did, but when I searched for the songs in the US store, I could not find them. Why is this so? Is there any way I can get the songs from the French iTunes Store?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I do live in the US. I assume that it works the same, that Apple doesn't have permission to sell the French songs in the US. Thank you for the quick response.

Why are some control backgrounds white and some gray?

I put together a vi and some of the controls have a white background, some have gray, and the increment/decrement buttons vary. How can I make them look alike, preferably white backgrounds?

I'm pretty sure that is by design - the idea is that even if you change to a modern control, you don't lose your defined colors.
The easiest way to change this is to use the eye drip tool which gets the colors from whatever you click on and use that to color the new numeric using the paint tool. Put songs into a Playlist Folder?
Is the Playlist a Smart Playlist?
Number two, putting songs into a Playlist Folder is guaranteed to cause songs to be "lost" from the list, eventually.
So - if you need more help than the possible causes listed here, you need to tell us a bit more about the issue. One assumes for instance (since you've posted in the iTunes for Windows forum), that this is ocurring in iTunes. What devices are you Syncing with your iTunes Library, and what are the Playlists like on them?

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos. However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled. What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

Some of my photos from my iPhone are sinking to my iPad and others are not. I can't work out why this is the case. Everything seems to be set up correctly.

Having had an iPhone for some time, I recently purchased an iPad. Everthing has been set up correctly in terms of iCloud, this was checked by Apple today, the set up in iTunes relating to photos says sync all, again I think this is correct.
However, some photos from my iPhone taken before I purchased the iPad are sinking to the iPad and others are not. I have no idea why and would be really greatful for any insights on this matter.
Furthermore, I have since deleted some photos from my iPhone but these still appear on my iPad and I am unable to delete them.
