Just spent $400 on ipod and haven't heard a thing. Wasted HOURS of time trying to get songs onto ipod and trying to find support phone number! WHY DOES APPLIE MAKE THE PHONE NUMBER SO HARD TO FIND! I'M READY TO PACK IT UP, SEND IT BACK AND DEMAND A REFUND!

Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.

Why are Mobile phone software updates so slow Telstra?

Looking at all this crowd support info, I seem to find quite a bit asking about device updates being so much slower than Optus and Vodafone.
Telstra, why, why are you so slow in releasing updates. Please stop blaming the manufacturer as it's obviously not them, you're just releasing 4.4.2 for the galaxy note 3 and we're up to lollipop 5.2, seriously, you're supposed to be the leader in the telecommunications industry but always seem to be two steps behind.

The various networks have different philosophies on testing and releasing software.It also depends on how thoroughly various networks conduct their testing, and their philosophy of allowing a certain degree of software bugs or software issues to be released, and patched later. In relation to Telstra, they are the dominant network operator in Australia, and in fact one of the 5 best operators in the world. The last thing they need is a product not to fulfill their criteria, with the resultant backlash. When testing is thoroughly done, it is almost inevitable that some issues will be found, and that requires negotiation with the manufacturers, and then it's up to the manufacturers to fix those issues and re-release the software. Then the testing is re-done and sometimes it is again not approved by the operators. That simply takes time. Different networks have different philosphies as to what is acceptable to release. Also, the same generic software can display issues that often requires customisation to a degree for different networks.I hope this explains the situation to you. It is extremely complex as phones have now become a multitude of devices all in one.

Why are the phone sales lying to customers telling them they will get a new phone under the warranty

This is my story from Store 1513 2441 North Maize Rd Wichita, KS 67205 Why are the cell phone sales people lying to customers by telling them they will get a brand new replacement phone under the purchased warranty when they really have to wait to be sent a refurbished phone? This seams like a scam! I have been told we would get a brand new phone on 3 separate contract renewals in the last 6 months if there ever was a problem, and now that I have a problem they say no you have to wait for a refurb in the mail? Guess you CEO will be getting an earful!

Why are double undo.Z files no hard links to save diskspace?

Hi,
many undo.Z under /var/sadm/pkg files exist twice:
<pkg>/save/<patch id>/undo.Z and
<pkg>/save/pspool/<pkg>/save/<patch id>/undo.Z
Why are these files not hard linked? Is there a technical reason for that?
It would be nice to save some space in /var/sadm/pkg ...

Yes i have diskspace problems, /var slice was configured too small (1GB).
First i tried moving /var/sadm/pkg to a larger slice, made pkg a symlink.
That does not work, SUM means no patches have been installed.
Second try was to move completly /var/sadm to a larger slice.
This seems to work good with SUM.
But today i was wondering about that someone changed the symlink /var/sadm back
to a new directory and put only 'smc/...' into it.
Now i know who it was: i run 'smosservice add' to prepare a diskless client.
sadm/smc/smcreg was modified on the symlinked tree, after that /var/sadm was
switched back to a new directory. This makes /var/sadm completly useless,
e.g.: 'showrev -p' answers with 'opendir' :-)
Ok, if i changed something i should not think all will work, so i think about a new
installation with much more space for /var.

It is a good question!
If you need 100 lines of code to save an image it is like a Java program:
- complicated
- not fun to develop with
I think the main problem is that Microsoft release 2 new libraries each year. On the most cases, if you try to compile it with an old library it works, but the app crashes with unexpected errors. It is always harder to develop for Windows and there
are always more libraries to use.
So it begun to be normal, to find a W8-store-app-library and use it in Silverlight, to add missing functionality.
It is a jungle and it seems that Microsoft too doesn't know anymore what library should be in the msdn-help. Some times, if you search for something, you finish on a library that can't be added to your project.
This is the reason, because your question will probably never be answered!

Why are my photos from my external hard drive grayed on in iphoto? they appear ok in the preview app.

Completely new to macs, just bought a mac book air. I bought a My Book Live wireless external hard drive and copied all my photos from pc lap top to this drive. When I go to iphotos i selected 'switch library' and can click on the my book drive fine. all the photos then appear in the window but theyre all greyed out so cant be clicked on. when i go into the photo preview app they all appear as thumbnails and can be opened as normal. help!

Set the Finder preferences to display mounted hard drive on the desktop:

We are in Croatia and are having trouble getting help for our problem. We have an Ipad and an Iphone 4S. I have been using the Iphone as a camera. The icloud has been transferring pictures to the ipad. Now, my iphone is full of pictures (180) and if I delete a picture, it disappears from my ipad as well. We need some advice as to how we can save the pictures in the ipad - maybe to another file? And then be able to delete the pictures from my Iphone without deleting them from the Ipad. Or, if that is impossible. What accessories should I look for so that I can download pictures on a device, then delete my pictures from the iphone and start all over again. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks from 2 very confused people.

If you have photos in your Photo Stream that you want to save to your iPad, you can save them to your Camera Roll using this method:
Manage My Photo Stream contents. In the My Photo Stream album, tap Select.
Share, print, copy, or save photos to your Camera Roll album: Select the photos, then tap .

Why is my phone suddenly not showing up in Find my iPhone?

I live overseas and use a pre-paid/pay-as-you-go set up with my iPhone 5. I recently returned to the US for vacation, and bought a one-month t-mobile plan for my phone, meaning I switched to a new SIM card and phone number for the month. Yesterday my phone came up missing. I looked for it in the Find my iPhone app on my wife's phone, and the device is not listed. Is that because I switched the phone number/SIM card, or because someone has stolen it and disabled this function?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the iPhone is offline (powered off, out of coverage area, in airplane mode) it won't be detectible by find my iPhone. If the new owner has already erased/restored the software well, it's just not your iPhone anymore.

Why are al these strange Screen Shares appearing in Finder?!?

I am suddenly seeing 5-6 strange Computers listed in Finder as screen shares.
Where are they coming from? How can I disable? It is very unsettling to say the least.

Somes they are "ghosts" from the last time you were connected to a public network.
Certainly the questions others have asked are relevant, too. You should be benind a router doing NAT and some basic firewalling, also.

In finder (os10.8.2) the .xlsm files are listed under documents not spreadsheets. Is there a way to get all spreadsheet listed properly?

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Thanks for your reply. May I ask what makes you say I haven't applied all those updates you listed? To the best of my knowledge, I haven't skipped any that I've been alerted to, it just took me a while on some occasions to succeed.
This latest one is the only one I've taken such an extra long time to get, and if I'm behind on some, I don't understand why I'm still being alerted to "update"...?
My newest problem however is that when I shut Firefox down, and then try to clean out cache etc, I keep getting a message that says:
"You must close Firefox/Mozilla to allow the Internet Cache to be
cleaned.Otherwise this process will be skipped."
But there are no -- visible anyway -- browser windows open.

Photos are only uploaded to iCloud after photo stream is enabled. It's possible that you already had 300 photos in your camera roll when you turn it on so they weren't uploaded. Also, photo stream also only maintains photos for 30 days, although earlier photos already streamed to your device from photo stream are not deleted. If you had turned photo stream off, then back on, and the 300 photos fell outside of this 30-day window at the time, they would not be in your photo stream album. (FYI, photo stream will also only save the last 1000 photos.)
If you delete the photos on your phone from the camera roll album, photo stream will be not be effected. If you delete them from the photo stream album on your phone, they will be deleted from your photo stream on your phone and any other devices connected to the same iCloud account/photo stream.
To keep your camera roll photos permanently, don't rely on photo stream as a backup. Import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).
