Why are the back/forwards buttons no longer working after upgrade?
Hi, I recently upgraded from Firefox 3.5 (I believe) to Firefox 4.0.1 and now the back and forwards buttons no longer work. I tried resetting the settings under the toolbars > customize, etc. That didn't work. FYI, I'm using a mac. Any solutions? Thanks in advance...
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Why do the back/forward arrows no longer work - they are grayed out?
When I start a new Firefox window or tab the back/forward arrows do not work and are grayed out. I can get previous sites by right click. I also get an orange "Firefox" dropdown tab in the upper left corner. It appears as though I have a Firefox window on top of a regular window.

home button no longer working after upgrade to ios6 software on my iphone4..anything i can do to frix this or apple send me a new device. phone no good without a home button
The button's broken. S**t happens. Apple will replace your phone. If in waranty it will be free of charge. If not, you will pay $149.
You can elect to have it repaired at a 3rd party shop near you if you choose, but this will void all warranty if there's any left. -
Mouse back/forward buttons no longer work in v29

my mouse back and forward buttons no longer work in v29. i tried FF safe mode, i tried with logitech setpoint 6.5 enabled and disabled, resetting setpoint. i don't want to "reset firefox" because i just did a fresh windows install and fresh firefox 28 install before upgrading to FF29 a few days later.....
BTW the back/forward buttons work in all other installed programs as well as FF28 in my windows 7 machine.
thanks in advance for any replies....apologies for another reply. also, the back/forward icons (to the left of the URL area) work just fine. it's only the mouse buttons that don't work and after years of using them, i REALLY miss them!

Back & forward buttons won't work after going full screen
I have a Logitech cordless mouse. When ever I'm watching a
video, like on You Tube, and I go to full screen, my mouse
back/forward buttons won't work, and I have to re boot my computer.
I have tried every thing Logitech told me to do, but still have the
problem. They think it's a flash player problem. I saw that one
other person in the forums has the same problem. Any ideas?

[email protected]I can't find the preferences section of itunes. where is it because it isn't at the very top of the screen and I didn't see it anywhere else. i hasn't told me that the back-up is corrupted so I don't know about that. I just know that it always comes up with the error message 50 when I try to get the back-up restored to it.

After upgrading to FF4, my back, forward, buttons no longer work
After I upgraded to FF4, my back, forward, and refresh buttons no longer work. I have tried restarting with Addons disabled, still an issue. Even the Alt-back arrow does not work. As well, the URLs no longer appear in the address box when I use Most Visited shortcuts.
duh, I thought that I had disabled all the addons, but I hadn't. The culprit turned out to be: Favicon Picker 2 0.6.1.14.

Standby button no longer works after upgraded OS from 4.... to 5.0.0.484
Hi all. I am new to BB and have a Tour 9630. After "upgrading" my OS yesterday the former "standby" (mute) button no longer works. I tried to find a place to assign "standby" mode to the left or right shortcut key but no luck. Also, I noticed my Opera browser is significantly different (and more annoying) because clicking the trackball goes back.... Any thoughts on either issue would be appreciated. Thanks.
Ok, so apparently I haven't looked at my phone too closely. The old Pearl model only had one button up top, which you used for both mute and standby. The new Tour apparently has two- the one on the right is the mute and the one on on the left is the lock.
On the Pearl you could press * to lock and *+[Green talk button] to unlock. On the Tour the only option you have to unlock is to press the lock/unlock button on the top left. It's pretty clear when you look at the top of the phone. However I usually have mine in a silicone case, which does have markings but they're very hard to make out.
So the phone locks and unlocks just fine, even after the OS 5.0 upgrade. However, I'm still wary about getting rid of standby mode if, in fact, it is a battery-saver. (Which I'm pretty sure it is)

The question says it all, really. I just installed Firefox 4, and noticed a significant (for me) reduction in utility: in the previous version, the back button used to have a drop-down arrow which showed the previous pages visited in a particlular tab, and allowed you to go back several pages in one go, if you wanted to (say, when browsing a series of sites to buy something or other). Firefox 4 no longer has this facility, which I personally found very useful from time to time.
Is it available by some other means? If not, maybe I should consider reverting to the previous version, which suited me better, in this regard at least.Just put the little arrow back into the system. Fix this now. I don't want 2 other options. Get this right for "nontech" people.

I don't like to have to click and drag to see the drop down history of the back/forward buttons - this requires two fingers or a double tap and hold finger motion. MUCH easier to click and release and take my time to pick the screen I want to go back to, then click on that link with a separate motion.
I especially don't like that I can no longer expand and contract the screen with two finger motion on my mousepad!!!
Generally, I don't see any advantage to the new layout - and I have a slight preference to having my tabs closer to the screen rather than above the address bar, since I more frequently click on tabs than on the address bar. If you want to improve the view I would recommend combining the very topmost bar which is part of the window surround with the File Edit etc bar (and please keep File, Edit, View History, etc separated instead of putting them into a dropdown). This will allow the viewer one more line of text on a given webpage, and eliminate the wasted space which is only used to identify the window as FF and provide the close window buttons
PLEASE help me go back to the old version. It was perfect.To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

I can only navigate back/forward one page at a time. The drop down box that used to allow me to see the recent pages and select the page I wanted to go to was immediately to the right of the "forward" button. I can right click over the forward/back buttons and get the dropdown list of recent sites.
Use right-click on the back/forward buttons to bring up the context menu, the drop down was never needed, and I had suppressed it for a long time to save space.

On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?
In my current Firefox, the "new tab" icon/item from the "customize" pop-up window menu of items is placed next to my home, back, forward buttons near the top-left of my header (Button 1 for "new tab"). Then, the tab bar automatically come with a small tab (with a + sign) to the right of your last tab opened (so you click on + and a new tab opens. Button 2 for "new tab"). I like to have this "new tab" button twice (as a + mini tab, and next to my "home icon".
When I upgraded to Firefox 4, I seemed to be only able to "customize" or use the "new tab" in one place. Either as an icon next to home button, or as a "+ minitab", but NOT both.
What can I do to put this button in Firefox 4 on BOTH places???
Your help is really appreciated. I want to upgrade, but I want my buttons on both places...

In FF 3.6, adjoining the back forward button (on the left of address bar), there was a dropdown which allowed me to jump back/forward to any page in the history list of the tab. This feature is missing in FF4. Is there any setting to enable it?
For me, I have the same question, this is a poorly done upgrade and I want to go back to 3.6

i accidentally clicked something and now i cannot see the web address at the top of the page or the back/forward buttons. how do i get that back?
You probably went into Full Screen mode on your Mac by pressing "command+Shift+F", you can toggle back out of it by pressing "command+Shift+F" again. It is a very useful keyboard shortcut. On other systems that shortcut is "F11".

In the previous versions of Firefox, there was a small arrow button attached to the back/forward buttons. Clicking this arrow showed a menu of the last 10 sites you visited and allowed you to jump back or forward, without having to press the back button 5 times, for example, to get to the fifth last site you visited. Where did the little arrow go? Can I turn it back on somehow?
Right click the Back/Forward buttons to get a list of visited sites.

When I downloaded the latest version I got a new screen with the orange Firefox tab at the top. That was fine, I could find what I wanted, but back/forward buttons didn't work. I checked the help section and went right through the suggestions down to 'reset toolbars and controls' - this did reset and I lost the orange box - that doesn't matter, but the back/forward buttons still don't work.
Do you have more than one tab open? If you didn't go to another site in a single tab, then yes, the buttons will be greyed out. If you went somewhere in another tab, then those sites should be accessible by right clicking either button.
