Why are there now TWO Adobe Flash Players needed to view all websites: v11.9.900 and v12.0.0.43?

I had Adobe Flash Player v.11.9.900.170 and upgraded to v.12.0.0.43. When I checked the Add-Ons manager, both Flash versions were listed and active. I de-activated the earlier version, and now some websites indicate I do not have Flash. When I re-activated the old version, the video played fine. So what's the deal with it being necessary to have TWO versions of the Flash Player installed, the current one AND a previous one? Seems hinkey...

@the-edmeister: Thanks for the tip, but it seems to be working OK now; tested on various sites with Flash. It may just be some bad code on Yahoo's part (wouldn't be the first time), and the Captcha works, just not its audio. Still testing, but seems like the double Flash versions issue magically solved itself, even without a re-boot. Perhaps just some squirrelly code from Adobe...

It opens on the English page for me:
Some of your systems settings may be incorrect, so it opens on the first (Arabic) page.  But you can always click on the English bookmark to go to the English section.

I just installed Lion and now my adobe flash player doesn't work to allow me to cam at a website that uses adobe flash to support camming there.  It worked fine yesterday when I had  Snow Leopard installed but right after I installed Lion it stopped working.

  • Why are there always 180 Free Apps when I choose "See All"?

Surely new apps are added daily. Why are there never more than 180? Are there more, but I just don't know how to find them? I feel like I'm missing something here. (BTW - The same question applies to Paid Apps.)

Well, no one really seems to have the answer to the essential question:
"Are there only 180 apps in a category and is it going to stay that way? If there are more, where the heck are they?"
I can't believe that 180 is the limit and we won't be seeing any more!

  • Why you do not have adobe flash players ? I will move for sumsung bc of this reason.

    Ok Great Allan,

  • Why are there suddenly two icons in my URL (Google Manage Requests and Facebook Manage Requests) that I cannot control?

    Hi Mozilla ~
In the URL field of Firefox, there are two icons on the far right, just left of the pull-down arrow and refresh arrow. They appear to be for Google and Facebook, both with tooltips that say, "View and Manage Requests". The pull-down menu allows me to manage those Friend requests they link to, but "Move to Menu" and "Remove from Toolbar" are greyed out and not actionable.
Q1 - How did they get there?
Q2 - How can I stop them from being placed automatically in the future by these privacy-muggers?
Q3 - What are they doing in the URL field?
Q4 - If the right-click context/pull-down menu has greyed out the option of "Remove from Toolbar", how can I delete them?
FWIW, I have accounts with Google and Facebook but trust neither and so have blocked them in every way possible from watching me, sending me notifications, doing anything "for" me, etc. My Add-Ons may be visible in my account, but generally they are related to organizing: "Group Tabs", "Bookmarks" or to my customized work process: "Send to Kindle", "HTTPS Everywhere" and "Disconnect Privacy". I hope that helps.
In an online world of sharks and blood-suckers, I trust Mozilla to help me be safe. Thank you for helping me figure out what Google and Facebook are going in my URL field.
I prepared a JPG to show what it looks like but there is no upload image function in this screen... and I cannot seem to drag-and-drop the file into this form field. Please advise.
''[Personal information removed by moderator. Please read [[Forum rules and guidelines]], thanks.]''

    Hi - Thanks for responding.
I've opened the Add-ons dialog and can confirm that I have both installed and enabled. I want them to stay this way, since I do not want either of them intruding on my privacy.
That their icons have very recently (I only noticed them today) appeared in my URL field, and that they are seeking to push notifications of friend requests to me from that location, does not seem related to my use of the add-on that prevents them from tracking what websites I go to, which is what those two Disconnect add-ons seek to provide.
Further insight and advice appreciated. I see there is a way to add an image to my concern, so here goes.
    Thanks again
    Alison

  • Are there issues with Adobe Flash Player plug-in for Safari?

Is it OK to install the Flash Player or will it cause me greef as the pdf reader did?

If you want to view Flash content, you have no choice.
You can control your exposure to Flash by installing the ClickToFlash or ClickToPlugin Safari extension.

  • Why are there so many flash updates?

Why are there so many Flash updates… I have had two in the last week and at least one more since the start of the year. It seems to have really got silly this last 12 months, is Flash really that unsecure and unstable that it needs this many fixes and updates?
I know you can tick the install in background box when updating but I like to know what is going onto my computer and given Adobe's knack of crashing my system when using PS and AI I don't really want them silently installing anything.

99% of the time the update gets prompted by Youtube or BBC when videos won't play on there sites and I follow the links through them. You would like to think that big sites like these would not allow false links to malware to crop up, but it isn't out of the question. Next stop, up to date anti virus…..
As far as Youtube goes I thought they had adopted HTML 5 now as standard and didn't rely on Flash?

On the ones that show up with Phoenix as the time zone the times change. Also I have had some of the times showing on the calendar at an hour different that when I open the Appointment. It will show the correct time, but on the Calendar it is sometimes different. "
From that information, it makes sense that your calendar is off.
Phoenix is in another time zone part of the year.   When daylight saving changed, Salt Lake City and Denver changed, but Phoenix did not.   You may have set time and date to auto, but the Mac knows the time difference and is compensating for it.

Why are there no favicons for many of my bookmarks? Where there was a favicon, a blank box with a dotted outline now appears.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

  • Why are there two separate JWS forums?

There's this forum and http://www.javadesktop.org/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=45 - shouldn't they be merged? Why are there two? Which one is the "official" one?

This forum, (the java developers forums) pre-date javadesktop.org, and as can be seen by the total thread count (5000+ threads vs 64 topics) has a lot more activity on the yopic of Java Web Start.
Javadesktop.org was created in 2003, and since it has much overlap with generic java development they also created a thread in their forum for Java Web Start.

I understand what afevrier is talking about and I am having the same issue.  I can look under system preferences, flash player, advanced and it shows me that I have the most current plug in version.  I click check now and I downloaded the most current version, but still, cannot access any thing that requires Adobe Flash.  There must be some other preference that we have set up that is not allowing us to use this.  Thoughts from anyone??
A few questions. Where in Adobe Flash System Preferences does it say you have the most current version before you click Check Now? In my Flash Preferences at least, if I have the latest version I will be told that and not be offered to download it again. You can also find out what the most current version is by checking here http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ as well as what Adobe sees you have installed.
What browser are you using Flash in? Do you have any extensions installed, such as NoScript or Ghostery which sometimes interfere with Flash working? There are other extensions too which cause such problems but are IMHO essential none-the-less for reasonably safe surfing.
