Why are there so many other programs downloaded with the Adobe programs?

I have an older computer with only 10 GB harddrive. I keep getting programs that I don't want and can't use. When it asks if I want this or that program, I always check no. But many times there is no asking, it just downloads these programs that are taking up what little free space I have which is only 5%.

There are direct downloads that don't have the unwanted "bundled" software.

Why are there so many more choices on the USA iTunes Store? Surely having an iTunes account should let you access all itunes availability the world over?
Also how do you request films/tv series to the UK itunes? There's tv series I'd like but they're incomplete like The Batman & Xena Warrior Princess. And films theta aren't available for download but you can purchase in a store like HMV?  Apple isn't doing itself any favours by secluding countries by their store. They'd make billions if you could just select the iTunes Store you want to search & purchase from just by signing in! If anything what they're doing is putting themselves into a corner, other companies like Samsung & HTC are already on too of them for innovation & ease of use. The people they're attracting are predominantly existing Apple users not new customers. What do you guys think?

It's not Apple's choice, they can only sell a particular item where the content provider/rights-holder has granted them a license to sell them. Content is licensed by the rights-holders to Apple on a country-by-country basis, each country therefore has to have its own store, and you have to be in a country to use its store - they want control over where their content is available.
You can try requesting that an item be added to the UK store via this page, but unless the rights-holder agrees to then Apple won't be able to sell it here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Why are there so many flash updates?

Why are there so many Flash updates… I have had two in the last week and at least one more since the start of the year. It seems to have really got silly this last 12 months, is Flash really that unsecure and unstable that it needs this many fixes and updates?
I know you can tick the install in background box when updating but I like to know what is going onto my computer and given Adobe's knack of crashing my system when using PS and AI I don't really want them silently installing anything.

99% of the time the update gets prompted by Youtube or BBC when videos won't play on there sites and I follow the links through them. You would like to think that big sites like these would not allow false links to malware to crop up, but it isn't out of the question. Next stop, up to date anti virus…..
As far as Youtube goes I thought they had adopted HTML 5 now as standard and didn't rely on Flash?

I'm under weight and would really like to see some apps for people like me who want to gain about 30 lbs!

Why are there so many apps and wearable tech out there that specifically focuses on losing weight?
Because there's a 35x bigger market for it.
Percent of adults   age 20 years and over who are overweight, including  obesity: 69.2% (2009-2010) - http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/overwt.htm

  • Why are there no iPhone 6 battery cases with a lightning input port for charging instead of a micro USB?

Why are there no iPhone 6 battery cases with a lightning input port for charging instead of a micro USB?
Does it have something to do with the MFI certification? Is micro USB just cheaper?
I don't want to have to carry around another cable and it seems like this would be a good product. What am I missing?

    sanjaykd wrote:
    Valid point.
So can I ask why there are no MFI certified lightning female ports on battery cases? Or more so, does this certification even exist?
    And why not?
This is a user-to-user technical support forum. There is no one here from Apple to answer "why". Again, I would recommend contacting the manufacturers or use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page for information on how to contact Apple directly.
I suspect that manufacturers may view the more standard microUSB charging port as a selling point. Those types of cables are cheaper and ubiquitous.

  • Why are there so many problems with the early 2008 Mac Pro ???

Hi everybody out there using Mac Pro's early 2008,
I found out there is a lot of problems with the early 2008 Mac Pro.
My early 2008 Mac Pro has been repaired ones under warranty and now it stopped working again ! Also see under: Mac Pro early 2008 no chime and does not start up. Why is this ????
It worked well for about 2 years and then it just fails and i had this failing issue twice already !!! Is this just a BAD Apple product or how do you think I need to approach this. Let’s face it, these machine don’t come cheap and you at least expect them to work without problems for 4-5 years. What is happening here ???

go to a black screen after 15 minutes or a couple hours
That is probably an indication that you need to find a new graphics card.
RE: Mac Pro Replacement Graphics cards
    1) Apple brand cards,
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards, and
    3) "Mac Edition" cards ...
... show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
    1) Apple brand cards:
    • Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5
    • Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards
    • NVIDIA Quadro 4000, about US$1200
    • NVIDIA Quadro 5000, about US$2500
    3) "Mac Edition" cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
    • SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
    • EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
If you are Meet ALL of these:
    • running 10.8.3 or later AND
    • don't care about "no boot screens" etc AND
    • can re-wire or otherwise "work out" the power cabling, THEN:
You can use many more cards, even most "PC-only cards"

People do not read the title of the forum or do not understand there are many forums. I have the ability to report posts and recommend relocation. I do that as time permits, but I am not, as a volunteer, treating this as a job.
The hosts/administrators do not have time to review every post for placement (staffing would not support that, I am sure).

  • Why are there so many different prices for RDS CALS

I'm needing Windows Server 2008 r2 with 10 server CALS and 10 RDS CALS. When I search for a source online I see 10 RDS CALS selling as low as 220.00 and as high as 500.00.
My question is: How do I know the lower priced item is the same as the higher prices item?

    Hi,
Microsoft has multiple licensing programs, each targeted at specific types of organizations, with different qualifications to join and different pricing.  For example, there is a licensing program for non-profits that allows
them to purchase licenses at a greatly reduced price.  The page below provides information on the different licensing programs:

  • Why are there so many inactive processes running on my computer?, etc.

    Hi,
This issue might already be addressed but my MacBook Pro has been really slow lately and when I checked the activity monitor, the inactive processes take up half of the system memory. Usually, how much space is this supposed to take? I only have the basics plus Sophos running. I've been trying to check to see what's running but sometimes some disappear and appear momentarily. In general, what's the idea or normal composition of system memory? Any help would be much appreciated.
Usually, this affects Safari which is slow when I switch between tabs, etc. Now, the browser has been quitting more frequently with the Java 10.4-.5 message appearing. What should I do to remedy that problem?
    Many thanks for any input!

It is normal for there to be quite a number of inactive processes.
the inactive processes take up half of the system memory
There is some confusion in what you are asking. Are you talking about inactive memory? Inactive processes will not be using any CPU, but they may have inactive memory allotted to them. This is memory that, should another process require it, can be reallocated to that other process. It's like a kind of caching: it can quickly be drawn upon should the inactive process become active again and need it. In the meantime, it is free for any process to use. It is not being wasted or used.
Usually, how much space is this supposed to take?
You are introducing the word "space" here. I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I don't think it's applicable.
I've been trying to check to see what's running but sometimes some disappear and appear momentarily.
That is normal for Activity Monitor. I think you need to have a better understanding of Activity Monitor.
    http://oreilly.com/pub/a/mac/2005/10/04/activity-monitor.html
Sophos may be slowing down your computer. You should turn off its always-on scanning feature (or whatever it's called) and just run it on demand.

  • Menu dropdowns dissappear. I loved FFV3 why are there so many changes to Firefox and no update works properly? Can you stick to a version and improve on that one? It seems everything is getting screwed up.

I think I covered it. I want a stable browser. I work on computers for a living and Firefox has been the proven browser for a very long time and FFV3 was the best browser on the planet. Why fix something that isn't broken. I don't know what other browser will fulfill my needs like firefox did. Why are you guys screwing around with the best browser on the planet? Get it together guys.

You could take a look at this iTunes Version History on Wikipedia if you want a feel for what goes on in each update and how frequent they are. The last few major updates have been two years apart. Most of the point updates have little impact on the way the user interacts with the software. You don't have to upgrade with each update unless you have bought or upgraded a device that now requires a newer minimum version to work with. E.g. iOS 8 requires iTunes 11.4 or later.
There are some major layout changes in iTunes 12, but by and large any task that you could do in 11 can be done in 12. For example the new Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions. If you're used to doing everything via a context menu it is going to be confusing to start with. A workaround is to hold down shift as you right-click > get info on a track selection to get the old style dialog.
Regarding the inability to delete playlists from the device I suspect you were working in the wrong context, i.e. looking at the playlists on the device in say the Music > Playlists sidebar for a device that is synced to the library. You should select the device first from the row of source icons, then Settings > Music from the sidebar, then deselect the playlist in question from the list of playlists scheduled to sync to the device, and sync.

If your Express is still under warranty you should contact AppleCare and have them address the problem.
It is possible 2.4 GHz wireless interference is a factor. Use Apple's Wireless Diagnostics as a tool to examine your wireless environment.
You can determine for yourself whether wireless interference is likely to be a causal factor preventing reliable music streaming. To do that, hold an option key while you click your Mac's Wi-Fi icon, and choose Open Wireless Diagnostics...
The following authentication dialog will appear:
Authenticate with your Admin password, then click the Continue button in the following:
The network analysis and diagnostic tests will take several minutes to complete:
When it completes, if your wireless network is functioning properly the following will result:
If something is amiss, supposedly the results will be different and you will be presented with helpful information.
Assuming your connection is "working as expected" select Continue to summary and clickContinue:
Ignore the pre-populated text field, which is provided as a place for you to type in helpful information should Apple ask for it in the course of obtaining technical assistance from them. Apple has no way of knowing where your router is located in your home, and certainly doesn't know if you even have an upstairs bedroom closet.
    Click Continue.
The next step will also take a few minutes:

  • TS1559 Why are there so many issues with the iPhone 4S?  The WiFi setting on the 4S becoming greyed out is certainly NOT a rare instance.

Why does the iPhone 4S keep losing the ability to connect to a WiFi server?  This is a repeat issue with one of our phones!

I had the same problem with my iphone 4S, ios 7.1.2. The wifi button was grayed out for some time now. I tried several methods that I found in various forums, including the reset of network settings, airplane mode, fridge and more. NOTHING!
Then I finally did what I wanted to avoid - the heating method, and it worked as follows:
    1. iPhone turned on, I held a hair dryer close to it while keeping the screen on and watching it while heating the iphone with the hair dryer.
    2. When the temperature warning came up on the screen, I put the iphone aside to cool up in room temperature (shut off the display). I turned it on/off couple of times until I saw that the warning was gone and normal screen came back.
    3. The wifi was still grayed out.
    4. I then did the network settings reset,
iphone wifi was back to normal!!

  • Why is there a big difference in price for the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and other software???

I am looking at selling the ADOBE PRO 9 range of software but i am confused as to why one is selling at £20 and another at £200. The packaging is exactly the same and they look the same, so can anyone tell me why this is?? I had a customer asking me was it a student version or a full retail version and did it have a licence?? Do you get a licence with the cheaper version?? I will be very grateful if you could explain why the prices are so different.
    Allison

One, you are in the COMPLETELY wrong forum for Acrobat... click the Adobe Forums link above-left and choose Acrobat from the list
Two, if you are selling software, you need to ask Adobe the price you should charge... and be careful you do not buy your stock from China, since it is most likely a pirate version
The SPACE here is provided by Adobe for users to help each other, but this is NOT Adobe support

  • Why are there no 1920 X 1080 Choices in the Sequence settings

I watched some videos trying to understand what is the best speed and frame size to use when creating a video.  Basically Lynda.com they are saying 1920 X 1080 is full resolution and this is the desirable setting for outputting best resolution.  The aspect ratio for this is 56%.
Also they explained the best speeds for the type of output you plan to make.  So from this I naturally expected to find a High definition 1920 X 1080 setting as a choice in setting up a new Sequence in Premier Pro.  Wrong!  To my surprise there is only one choice that will give you these setting right out of the box, What's up with the settings choices.  The recommended setting should be right there and easy to find.  Below I show the choice of AVCHD is the only obvious choice for creating a 1920 X 1080 video.  Can you guys help?

Just to toss in my two cents worth - I don't believe any DSLR shoots 1080i, should all be progressive as 1080p or 720p. And back to the "HDV" or "Anamorphic HD" thing - with square pixels (1.0 Pixel Aspect Ratio) 1080i/p is 1920x1080 and if you divide each side of that by 120, you get 16 and 9. A 16:9 ratio between width and height (not 56% or 1.7777777 !!!!). "Anamorphic" widescreen is a way of "faking it", and saving a smaller file since less data is involved. That is how HDV works. It uses 1440x1080 pixels, and they are not square, rather they are rectangular with a 1.333 pixel aspect ratio. The pixels are wider than they are tall, and that makes up the difference so that it still plays back looking like 16:9 (IF the player respects the PAR). Simple math shows that 1440 x 1.333 = 1920! So 1440x1080 with 1.333 PAR "looks" the same as 1920x1080 with 1.0 PAR, even though 1440x1080 comes out to 4:3. Which brings up the last point, if anyone IS editing HDV footage, and wants to export to say YouTube or other other computer/tablet playback formats, do NOT export as 1440x1080 because most players will not pay attention to the PAR and the video will look like 4:3 (players wrongly assume 1.0 PAR). You will want to export as 1920x1080 with 1.0 PAR and then all is right with the world. Or take it down to 720p at 1280x720, also 16:9 with 1.0 PAR for correct playback.
Thanks for reading and good night ;-)
    Jeff
