Why aren't my software updates updating?

Today I was trying to install some software updates (13).  The computer was plugged in and restarted, but when I checked to see if the updates had been installed they hadn't been.  What could be the cause of this?  Thanks for your help.

Hi S,
To start with, try one update at a time. If that doesn't work, go to Apple downloads and download the updates from there, then install them.

  • Mac OSX SUS - Why aren't the latest updates offered for some software

For instance, on my sus, Quicktime 7.6.4 is the latest version offered for leopard. 7.6.6 is available on Apple's site. Is there actually a 7.6.6 update others can see on their sus, or is this a universal issue - and why aren't the latest updates available?
    Thanks

I just checked my 10.6.3 SUS server at it appears to have that Quicktime 7.6.6 update listed. The size is listed as 68.5 MB and the post date is 03/30/10. My SUS Server Admin interface shows a "Last Check" time of Apr 13, 2010 3:00:00 AM.
I have wiped and reinstalled my SUS server several times dealing with the "missing 10.6.3" updates bug reported many times in these forums so that may be why my server is displaying the Quicktime 7.6.6 update.

  • HT3810 I am running snow leopard 10.6.1 on my mac, why doesn't running "software update" offer to load 10.6.8?

I am running snow leopard 10.6.1 on my mac, why doesn't running "software update" offer to load 10.6.8?

Please take a screenshot of the following:
Go to the Apple menu which appears in the upper left of the screen, then click About this Mac. Screenshot the window that pops up.
Also under the Apple menu, run Software Update. After it checks for updates, screenshot the window of available updates.

  • HT4972 Why cant I see software updates in my setting?

why cant I see software updates in my settings?

Because your iPhone 3G cannot run any version of iOS higher than 4.2.1, which came out before the "Software Updates" was added (in iOS 5).

Because there is only one update for all iPads and iPhones if you learn to read. And watch your language or no one will bother helping potty mouth little children like you.

  • Why aren't there anymore updates for the ipod 1st gen?

Why aren't there anymore updates for the ipod 1st gen? I can barely do anything on it now and it would be a waste . its only 4.2.1 just make it to ios 5

Because the hardware will not support a higher iOS.

  • HT1338 And why we need both Software Update and App Store in Mac OS X 10.8?

Since clicking Software Update brings the App Store anyway

Apple's recommendation is a broadband connection but not one with restrictions.
Here's why. Your profile indicates you have v10.8 Mountain Lion installed.
If at some point you need to reformat, repair, or restore OS X, that can definitely take more than 30 minutes. To restore OS X alone takes about 45 minutes with a high speed internet connection.
Requirements for reinstalling OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
"Reinstalling OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion via OS X Recovery requires broadband access to the Internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the Internet from Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation."

  • Why Does Apple Store Software Updates in the Windows 7 'Roam' folder?

I noticed that the Software Updates are being stored in the 'Roam' folder for the Windows 7 user profile. Any comments on why that may be?  And is there any way to change it so that these updates live in the 'local' folder, to prevent long login/logoff times?

  • Why did my last software update disable functions?

    Hi.
Ever since my last recommended software update last week, my PhotoShop app can't open files or save them. The message it gives me is "Can't open file due to disk error." Also, I now can no longer open iMovie2, which I was using as an app on Snow Leopard because I can't stand the new iMovie. I've been editing with it for the last two years, but no all at once it won't open any longer and the app freezes and must be forced to quit. At the same time, I can no longer print from the drop-down meniu from AppleWorks 6, but can print from the toolbar icon. All of this began after my last recommended system update (I can't remember because it was one of four updates at the same time). Nothing else has changed. I've shut down and thought that rebooting would cure the problems buut it hasn't.
    Any ideas?
    TIA
    John

Maybe that update will fix your problems...or not.

  • Why wont the apple software update show up in my programs?

So itunes told me one day that i needed to reinstall because an application was missing so i went tho the website to reinstall. However, it wouldn't let me reinstalll because it couldn't remove the apple software update application. I went to the add remove programs tab and it said he application could not be found when i tried to uninstall it. I tried downloading safari to see if i could re-download the apple update but i couldn't get it from there either. So now i have no itunes and i really need help:(

pretty new to the alias concept.
with that said is it okay to drag the HD icon to the dock on the right side of the seperator?
i made the earlier mistake of dragging by accident into launchpad adding hundreds of icons into it.   launchpad cleaner took care of it.
i would like to have the icon on my dock if possible. anyways thanks!  all!

  • Why are Mobile phone software updates so slow Telstra?

Looking at all this crowd support info, I seem to find quite a bit asking about device updates being so much slower than Optus and Vodafone.
Telstra, why, why are you so slow in releasing updates. Please stop blaming the manufacturer as it's obviously not them, you're just releasing 4.4.2 for the galaxy note 3 and we're up to lollipop 5.2, seriously, you're supposed to be the leader in the telecommunications industry but always seem to be two steps behind.

Good evening.I'm very sure indeed that Telstra doesn't need me to defend them BUT ..... I did that exact work every day for several years, and I'll answer your question. The various networks have different philosophies on testing and releasing software. It also depends on how thoroughly various networks conduct their testing, and their philosophy of allowing  a  certain degree of software bugs or software issues to be released, and patched later. In relation to Telstra, they are the dominant network operator in Australia, and in fact one of the 5 best operators in the world.   The last thing they need is a product not to fulfill their criteria, with the resultant backlash. When testing is thoroughly done, it is almost inevitable that  some issues will be found,  and that requires negotiation with the manufacturers, and then it's up to the manufacturers to fix those issues and re-release the software. Then the testing is re-done and sometimes it is again not approved by the operators.    That simply takes time.     Different networks have different philosphies as to what is acceptable to release. Also, the same generic software can display issues that often requires customisation to a degree for different networks.I hope this explains the situation to you. It is extremely complex as phones have now become a multitude of devices all in one.

  • HT3669 This article doesn't tell me what the new software adds to my printing capabilities. Does anyone know why there's a software update and what it does?

    Does anyone know?

Not specific to Lion. Most of those printer updates state:
This download includes the latest printing and scanning software for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6.
However, you'll not find out what's been improved, added, or fixed.

  • Why won't my software update run?

I am trying to run a spftware update on my Imac (I am running OS X Lion 10.7.2) and when I attempt to download the updates I get the message:
"None of the selected updates could be saved.
A network error has occurred. Check your Internet connection, and then try again"
I know that I am connected to the internet as I am able to view any webpage I need to, but just not able to do updates, any idea what this could be??
    Thanks for the help

Ok...  try a standalone download instead...
Try Safari first >  Safari 5.1.2
If that installs ok, now download this one >  iTunes 10.5.2
Then the Java / Lion >  Java for OS X Lion Update 1
Then here >  Canon Printer Drivers v2.7 for OS X

  • Why does Lexmark Printer Software Update v2.7 keep showing up as an update on my MacBook Pro, even though it's installed?

I use a Lexmark Pro901 & Pro915.  One printer I use at work and the other at home.  I've connected the printer cable to my MacBook Pro and both printers during the update and nothing changes.

Your post is incredibly hard to read, font is way to small.
If you used Boot Camp Assistant to create a partition to install Windows to you need a REAL Windows 7 or 8 install media and license key and you have to actually install Windows on your Mac. Boot camp is only for creating a partition to install Windows and starting the Windows install from REAL Windows install media.
That Windows install media has to be a DVD disc, if your Mac has a built in DVD drive (Apple does not allow Windows to be install any other way on Mac computers that originally come with a built in DVD drive), or from a USB stick with the actual Windows install files on it (Not an ISO of the Windows install files).
So the question is did you install Windows on your Mac? It doesn't look like it from the Option key boot and the list of available Boot Devices you posted.
