Why Aren't Your Settings Working?

I'm using Custom Settings, from Options, under Tools.
Note: My Mozilla Homepage is a website accessible with a password, which the site offers to save. I've selected the option for this site to REMEMBER my computer and password.
In Mozilla, I checked boxes for: "REMEMBER browsing and download history;" and "REMEMBER search and form history." I've authorized Mozilla to "accept cookies from SITES I visit," which, obviously includes my homepage in Mozilla. Despite these setting, Mozilla seems to be ignoring my commands... I am prompted to reenter my password at my homepage each time I start Mozilla. Mozilla remembers nothing. Is this because Mozilla is trying to get me to change my settings?

There are two ways to get logged in.
One is for the site to set a persistent cookie. When you load your home page, Firefox will send all cookies previously set by the site (which have not expired or been deleted) so that the site knows who you are and can continue your session where you left off. Assuming you have Firefox set to keep cookies "Until they expire", you are not logging out of the site, and the site doesn't time out sessions on its own, then that should work.
The second is that you can save your login in Firefox's password manager. This should log you in automatically if the site presents its login page, but if you set a Master Password on your Firefox logins, which is a good idea, when you would get a pop-up box to enter your Master Password. I don't think that is what you are describing in this case.
So let's assume your home page cookie is getting cleared while you exit Firefox or after you exit Firefox. Some possible ways that could happen:
* Site limited to session cookies (while on the site, click the padlock or globe in the address bar, click More Information, click Permissions, then under Set Cookies make sure it is "Allow" and not "Allow for Session")
* Using the feature to clear history when Firefox closes (in Tools>Options>Privacy>"Settings...") there is a list of categories of what gets cleared if you are using this to clear some data and not others)
* Using an extension that cleans out cookies (you probably can create exceptions for specific sites)
* Using external utility or privacy software that cleans cookies when Firefox shuts down or when you start up Windows (sometimes you can create exceptions for specific sites)

Hey y'all, I'm using a 2006 White MacBook running on Mac OS X 10.7.5, and the USB ports aren't working. If I restart the laptop, the ports will work for a little little bit and then as soon as it finishes the reboot, they won't work. It's weird. It won't work for my iPhone 5 cable but it will work for my Mophie exernal battery case when I charge it via through USB. I plugged my iPhone 5 cable with the adapter to see if it's not working overall. However, it worked fine when I plugged it into the wall. I tried the SMC reset and the PRAM reset. Nothing is getting any better. I am trying to import pictures and this port thing is becoming very frustrating. Is there anything else I can do to fix it that doesn't require going to the apple store or something involving buying the software discs? Well, dang. Things are getting a bit more complicated. If you have an expendable external drive of any type that is 16GB or larger, you can create an external recovery HDD. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5911. It's possible from Recovery Mode to select which startup drive to boot. If you boot to your normal startup drive from Recovery Mode and your USB ports are working correctly, it's likely indicative that key parts of OS X on your boot drive are somehow unwell and that a reinstallation is necessary.
If you have Time Machine backups of your system, I'd probably be inclined to do a full refresh of the system:
From the App Store / Purchases, download Lion again, but do not run the installer;
Download DiskMaker X from http://liondiskmaker.com/ and use it to create bootable USB install drive (requires an 8 GB USB drive) or a DVD;
Make sure the Time Machine backup is up-to-date and accessible;
Shutdown your MacBook, turn on via the power button and press/hold the Option key at the startup tone;
Choose the USB or DVD drive to boot and install Lion;
Once Lion's base install has completed, it will prompt you to continue to login or migrate a user profile from a Time Machine backup - migrate your user account(s).
That's the worst case scenario. Before you go jumping through all those hoops, however, you'd probably want to boot the system to your original install DVD to run the hardware diagnostics. If you run the short diags and nothing is found, letting the full diags run overnight might turn up a hardware problem. If so, you've got the unfortunate problem that Apple no longer supports these systems outside of California.
If full diags indicate no detectable problems and the aforementioned booting from Recovery Mode into your usual boot disk gets your USB working again, the reinstall seems to be the best bet.

Why aren't Groups settings being applied correctly?

I've been testing the Profile Manager's settings for Groups and it doesn't seem to be getting applied correctly.
I have an image and computer I'm testing that has a local admin account. This is the same local admin account on all of our company's macbooks.
On the server, I have a Test Group and a Test user. The Test user is a network account and is the one and only member of the Test Group. In Profile Manager, for the Test Group, the only setting I have set up is for Restrictions. I set it up to restrict access to Sharing, Profiles, and Security & Privacy to the members of the Test Group only.
What happens is, when these settings are applied to a computer, it restricts access to those System Preferences to the local admin account as well. Why is this happening? Obviously, the local admin account is not a network user, nor is it in the Test Group. I cannot figure this out or understand what's going on.
The only other bit of information that may or may not help is I am running 10.8.1 Server and the client is running 10.7.4.
I don't have other specifics right now, but this isn't the only weirdness when testing settings for other Profiles with regards to the settings not being applied as expected.

When you add new contact you are adding the contact to your default contacts account. Your default contact account is set in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Contacts > Default Account. If this account is checked in the Contacts app Groups view, you will see the new contacts in the Contacts app. Otherwise not.
I suspect your problem is that your default contact account is not set to the account you think it is.

Why aren't counter expressions working??

I've tried several Counter expressions,
but none of them seem to work.
I don't know if it's because they were
designed for a different version or what,
but every single one of them has one
thing or another wrong with them.

What do you mean by "counter expressions"?
If you mean numbers that count up or down, why not try the numbers effect and keyframing the value?

Why aren't my settings retained after restarting Firefox?

I customize the toolbar and remove the FEEDBACK button. But every time I restart Firefox, the FEEDBACK button comes up. How do I get rid of it?
I also "USE CUSTOM SETTING FOR HISTORY" but every time I restart Firefox 4, it goes back to default "Firefox will remember history".
This is annoying because having blocked cookies, and other things from specific sites - the settings go back to default and undesired effects pop up (like cookies from the blocked sites).

You can disable or uninstall the Feedback (Test Pilot) extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) if you do not want to use that feature.

Restricting Wireless Access...Why Aren't Parental Controls Working?

We're pretty new to OSX. Just got my son an iBook, and we're looking to not let him hop on the wireless network in the house (we want him to access the Internet only from a lan cable in the kitchen...keeping him out of harm's way). I'm set up as the administrator, and we've gone into his account and disabled his ability to modify Airport Utility. And then we turn it off, but when we go back into his account, he can still access the Internet wirelessly. What might we be doing wrong?

The Airport Utility is only used to configure an Airport Base Station, it has no effect on wireless connectivity.
What you'll need to do is go into the Network pane in System Preferences. Click on the Show menu and select Network Port Configurations. Uncheck the box next to the airport card. Then, click the little lock at the bottom of the system preferences window to make the Network preferences un-editable without the admin password.

Preflight settings work at the page level but not the document level?

Greetings all,
Just wondering if anyone has run into this: I'm running Acrobat 10.1.3 on Lion and I've been struggling with getting my preflight settings to work. I can get a simple fixup (convert all to grayscale, for example) to work on a page or two extracted from a large document (800 pages), but I can't get the same fixup to successfully fix the whole document.
I've tried this on several different large documents with the same results. And yes, I did try all the usual stuff...quitting, restarting, rebooting, different docs, different fixups, duplicated a known working fixup...
I'm at my wit's end with it. Any ideas?

Do your settings work on small or medium size documents? Such as, instead of 800pgs, how about a 2 page file, a 4 page file, a 16 page file? In order to diagnose, you have to start a systematized test procedure to see where it fails. FWIW, I don't use that feature, but is Preflight even supposed to work on whole documents, not just the current page?

Why aren't some RH styles working in WebHelp?

I can't get bullets or simple indents to display correctly in WebHelp and can't see what I'm doing wrong.
We're using TCS 3.5, FM 10.0.2.419, and RH 9.0.2.271. We're single-sourcing content from Frame to output in (1) PDF and (2) WebHelp. We have one set of FM templates and, if possible, wish to avoid having to have one set for PDF and one for WebHelp.
We want to generate WebHelp from Frame without using RoboHelp, but we are forced to at least set up a RoboHelp project and link our FrameMaker book in order to get functionality we need in the WebHelp. Otherwise we wouln't use RH at all.
I created a RH project, linked my FM "online help" book (a special FM book that contains selected chapters from two print books), generated topics in RH (File>Update>Generate), set a few project settings in RH (File>Project Settings), updated the book in RH (File>Update>Update All), and saved all. Then I closed RH, opened FM, and published (File>Publish), specifying output type (WebHelp), output location, and the location of my RH project. The WebHelp I get is functional but now I need to define styles.
Last week I could not find an easy way to define styles in my css via RH unless I had previously defined my styles in RH's Conversion Settings window (File>Project Settings>Edit>Import tab>Edit FM Settings button). So I have been defining styles there, applying them to the RH project, and occasionally exporting them to an isf just to have a backup. When I next generate WebHelp from FM, I point only to the RH project, not the ISF, because the styles are defined in the RH project (I apply them to the project by clicking Apply and OK).
Using this process, for some styles (bullets and indents, for example), the definitions I have in the RH Conversion Settings dialog box are not reflected in the WebHelp output.
When I look at the css in RH (File>Project Settings>Import tab>default.css Edit With RoboHelp CSS Editor), what I see is what I see in the Conversion Settings dialog. So why aren't some of the settings I specified in the Conversion Settings window reflected in WebHelp?
Any ideas are most appreciated!

I haven't got any experience using the "newer" Generate function in FM, but it seems to not give you much control over how stuff comes out vs. the "standard" way of using RH with linked FM content. RH is just the tool for creating WebHelp, just like Acrobat is the tool for creating PDFs.
There's a couple of ways to control how stuff appears when doing the FM to RH to help route - one is to use a FM template within your RH project that has all your mappings in it - Matt Sullivan often recommends this approach and there's more info about it on his roundpeg.com blog.
The other way is to set the conversion settings and then use a customized css to be used in the SSL recipe to be applied to all topics when the help is created.

As the feature is part of your scanner set up nd not iPhoto, you'd need to ask the makers of that for help.

Why doesn't this code work in my extension? Retrieving generator settings from meta data

Using the code below in my host.jsx file within my html 5 extension this code doesnt work:

Try deleting the mail account and setting it back up again.

Why LR4.4 no longer works with Blurb?

why LR4.4 no longer works with Blurb?
If I configure a book and then click Submit to Blurb does not happen anymore. I even looked at the network traffic and it seems as if the IP is pinged to the contact record no longer respond. I do not understand. This has worked fine all the time. On the computer no setting has been changed. No software is installed that would prevent something. The last book has worked wonderfully. Interesting things, when I export the book as PDF and then upload at Blurb, Blurb complains that the standard by which PDF is not true. X2003 PDF version .... but I am surprised very strong and I really suspect that there adobe wants to put a stop to that one is supposed to buy the new LR version. But everything just a guess. Maybe someone can help me or even has a similar problem.

If not successful that means that the IOS update broke compatibility, Since the 3G and 4G iPods has difference hardware, there are some differences in the iOSs for the two model iPod.
