Why blank message in gmail, using Firefox

When I open a gmail message, using Firefox as the browser, several times a week the message opens up completely blank. When I opened these same gmail message using Internet Explorer they appear just fine.
What could be causing this? Since it works in IE and not in FF, I'm assuming there is an issue, plug in?? Can you help guide how we can fix this?

Updating my AdBlock filters as suggested in the thread below worked for me.

I can't attach a file in Gmail using Firefox, I can attach files when using Chrome and Safari, so it must be Firefox.
I've tried all the other suggestions for making things work, but nothing works so far, and it started yesterday afternoon

    Any suggestions would be usefule

    Try allowing pop up windows
    Open Menu
    Options
    Content (on the top)
    Click Exceptions...
Type mail.google.com in address of website area
    Click Allow
Try to open attachment window now.

  • I was recently able to attach files in gmail using Firefox, but now I get an unresponsive link, when I click "upload". It works fine on other browsers. I search the question database but perhaps I missed the fix. Any suggestions?

I am using windows 7 Home Premium, on an HP. I use and enjoy the Firefox browser. The only major extension that could cause clicking issues is possibly NoScript. But until recently I have had no problems with uploading attachments in Gmail through Firefox.
    The issue:
I start Gmail. Logging in is fine. When I compose a new message (still no problem) I can't upload any attachment via the attachment link. I click the attach link and it is unresponsive. I use internet explorer and I get no issues. I've noticed this issue only since yesterday. Please help.
    Thanks
    R/S Kenneth

I also had this problem since yesterday (march, 13). I tried cleaning cache and cookies, restarting the browser and the pc, but nothing happened. With IE and Chrome the attachment worked fine.
I hoped that with the yesterday's 3.6.28 updade it would be fixed, but it didn't.
Then, I saw the reply to [http://support.mozilla.org/pt-BR/questions/922873 THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM] which was telling to use the refresh button on FIREFOX (not Gmail's refresh). I tried, and the problem was gone.
So, if anybody has the same issue, try hitting the refresh button on firefox :)
    Thank you, junkcat!

  • Can't upload attachments consistently in gmail using firefox 34

I'm running into an odd problem that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere I've searched. I am trying to add attachments to gmail messages using Firefox 34, but I get an error message "Attachment Failed" with options to try again. The interesting this is that if I click "Try again" multiple times, it will eventually load the attachment. Now for some of the facts:
    1. I've made an exception for mail.google.com in my pop-ups
    2. I've cleared my cookies and cache...repeatedly.
    3. I've noticed that my Kaspersky 2014 URL Advisor extension is not compatible with Firefox 34, but I can't see how that is the problem.
    4. I have even tried turning off my proxy to see if it helps - it doesn't
    5. I can upload attachments fine in IE - a browser I detest.
    Any suggestions?

Does the happen in Safe Mode?

  • I can't attach files in gmail using firefox, can you help?

    Hello,
I'm not sure if my previous question went through, so I apologize if this is a duplicate. Starting today I'm unable to attach a file to email when using firefox (31.0), function works when using Safari. When I click on the "attach file" button, my search browser does not open. Nothing happens.
I've read through previous posts of similar problems, have restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, and cleared my history and cache. Unfortunately none of these attempts have been successful.
    Thank you for your time,
    Shea

If you can't add attachments to Gmail messages then you need to add an allow exception to allow pop-ups for the Google website.
Easiest to do this is to click the padlock on the location bar and click the "More Information" button to open the "Tools > Page Info" window with the Security tab selected.
    Proceed to the Permissions tab
Remove the tick on "Open Pop-up Windows" > "Use Default" and click the Allow radio button to change the permission to allow pop-ups for this domain.

  • Since I updated to Firefox 8 on Mac OSX 10.4.11, Firefox will not open anymore (not even previous versions downloaded via Safari). I get the error message 'You cannot use Firefox with this version of Mac OSX' (translated from Dutch).

I have tried creating a new profile, problem remains the same.
None of the 3 accounts on this desktop can use Firefox anymore. This has never been a problem. Today (14.11.11) I updated Firefox to 8, and nothing anymore. Via Safari I downloaded Firefox 7 to reinstall, same error message.

Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor (which you do have) '''''and''''' OSX 10.5 or higher (your version is OSX 10.4).

  • IOS4 - Blank Messages in Gmail

And now that I've upgraded to OS4 on my iPod touch, I'm getting odd messages when I sync with my Gmail account. If there are nested messages (multiple responses, etc) there will be blank messages in the group that I can't delete and that I can't mark as read. If I do some pruning on my Gmail account directly on a PC, they go away, but until I do that, they linger on my iPod, constantly "unread".
    What's going on?
And on a related matter, can we please get the "Delete" option back? I don't archive and I'd rather not have that as default.

I have the same issue as the above user, and echo his suggestion regarding a "Delete" option.

I am using Windows 7, Firefox 3.6 for my gmail. I had no problem printing from my gmail account until Firefox updated to 3.6. Now when I try to print, I get a message "Unknown Print Error Occurred" and nothing will print. I cannot print from the "File" list either. However, I can print from IE 8. Is Firefox aware of this issue?

  • I cannot compose a message in gmail using either FF4 or FF3.6.17 following formatting my PC and re-installing programs.

Your guess re operating system is correct, problem happens in v4.0, I uninstalled and reinstalled V3.6.17. I have not downloaded any plug-ins at all. Works correctly using MS I Explorer! Is happening in all my gmail accounts (about 5) except one! Have been using FF for years, never seen problem before.
Re-formatted PC yesterday -problem evident today.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Unfortunately after trying your remedy I found the problem still exists.
After selecting the "Compose Mail" button, the message "Loading" appears near the top of the page. Nothing else happens. The "Compose Mail" facility does not appear at all, I have left it on for over an hour and it still is "Loading". Messages can be read, reply's can be made, attachments can be opened and downloaded. The only way to get rid of the "Loading" is to refresh the page. It is also a problem in most of my other gmail accounts (5) excepting my personal gmail. I have compares settings with that account and can find no difference. The problem does not occur in Internet Explorer! The problem first occurred after reformatting my PC and installing FFv4. I was previously using FFv4 for about 2 - 3 weeks previously without a problem. I uninstalled FFv4 and installed FFv3.6.17 hoping to fix the problem - problem still exists exactly the same.
This problem does not occur on my other PC which has been running FFv3.--.-- for many months. I have also compared my internet account settings with those on that PC and can find no differences.
Both PC's are running Windows 7 Home Premium, 4Gb RAM, 1Tb HD, AVG 2011 Free Anti-Virus, the one with the problem has an AMD chip, the other an Intel chip!
Seems very wierd, if you can come up with an explanation I would be grateful as I prefer to use Mozilla FF rather than MS IE.
    Thanks, Noel

  • FarmTown in Facebook will not open all the way? Why? I can't use Firefox :(

I just downloaded Firefox for the second time. I uninstalled it the first time because it would not open Farm Town all the way. I only get the bottom part, and not the farms.
I figured I would try downloading your program again, and the same problem. I can't use Farm Town. I downloaded it the standard way, I didn't try to change anything when it was going to be downloaded....I am using Windows 7. I'd appreciate hearing from you at your earliest convenience
    Sandy

You are saying Firefox opens full size, but when you what the smaller
window, you can't change it's size?
Do you have any other problems with Windows or Firefox?
Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift><br> ''(Mac Options)'' ''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

  • How can I paste an MS Word document directly into gmail using Firefox browser, without losing all formatting?

I'm trying to paste a simple MS Word doc directly into the body of a Gmail email, but all formatting goes out the window. I've tried downloading a couple different HTML editors, including CoffeeCup (which doesn't work with Firefox) and Firefox's own Firebug, which, quite frankly, no one on this end can figure out (doesn't seem to be as user friendly as CoffeeCup). Please advise, as this will be an ongoing operation which we'll need to be able to perform. Thanks.

First, thanks for your reply. It's greatly appreciated. However, the level of your response fails to address the scope of the original question. Your first supposition is incorrect, that most MS Word docs copy uneventfully into the body of Gmail emails. This only applies to the most basic of MS Word docs (i.e., those utilizing minimal formatting, such as basic letters, etc.) and otherwise runs contrary to dozens of online complaints posted by users such as myself (though not on the Firefox website). Second, everyone knows you can add an attachment to Gmail emails. In this case, the recipient will not accept attachments of any kind, and has therefore asked that the content be copied directly into the email body. This is not uncommon in these cases. Third, the very nature of Notepad makes it unable to translate/interpret any documents beyond the most basic, hence its name: Notepad. Fourth, apparently this problem is rare or virtually non existent with other browsers, as all the complaints online appear to be Firefox related. Again, however, I appreciate you taking a stab at this.

  • (Started yesterday) I cannot access contacts in Gmail using Firefox. Works fine in other browsers. Is there a fix?

All of sudden clicking Contacts in Gmail brings no response except the "loading" box display.
This just started out of the blue, I have not changed anything. Gmail works with all other browser (Opera, IE, and Chrome)
It also appears that "Setting" button will invoke the same response.
I have cleared the cache etc.

Did you clear the cookies as well?
    * "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    * "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
