Why Business Object???when BW is in Place

Hi
i am quite confuse that what is Business Object and SAP BW , when sap already has BW then why there is need for BI-Business Object.How does it make diffrence.

BO is very strong at the interface level and that is the part that will replace the current BW tools (WAD, BEX and Report Designer), in some cases the functionalities are much improved, Crystal Reports is a thousand times better than Report Designer, I'm quite convinced that even a Light version will bring in improvements.
The backend won't change though, so you keep your DSOs, Cubes and all other BW/BI specific tools for modeling. BO has some datamart and ETL tools, but these will be separate offerings as much for SAP and non-SAP customers...

Problems with a Business Object when using data RAW.

Hi,
I've created a Z bapi with parameter tables as
FILE_BIN like SDOKCNTBIN
The structure SDOKCNTBIN has one RAW field.
When I go to SWO1 and implement a new Bapi, the following error occurs:
"Field SDOKCNTBIN -LINE is too large to be included in container"
Does anyone knows why when I declare an structure with a field RAW, gives that error?

Why is it when I try to place an image in PS CC nothing appears on my layer ?

All of a sudden, when I try placing any type of file (image, smart object, vector, pdf, etc) into my layer, nothing appears?
It seems as something has been placed because I initially see a bounding box when placing it, but nothing appears. Nor does anything appear when it shows the preview of what is being placed.
Help PLEASE ???

Business Object - BDoc Supported Bo

Hello CRM Gurus,
This question is related to BOL Object layer.
When we create the Business Object of type BDoc Supported,
1.Why is the Write BDoc section of the Business Object becomes disabled with the BDoc name specified in the textbox?

There will be three kinds of Business Objects in BOL Layer.
1. BDOC Supported Business Objects : When BOL creates a new BO, BOL FWwill use the Read BDOC.And you can not do save for these BOs. Read Only. may be all child BOs can be modelled as BDOC supported.
2. New BDOC Supported Business Objects : These BOs will have Raad BDOC and Write BDOC, so you can read and write. when you save on a Business Object, BOL FW will use the write bdoc.
This will be used at most for all the root Business Objects and independent Business Objects to enable save at run time.
3. BDOC Not supported : as you aware, Unbound Business objects. can be used as helper BOs.

BUPA_MDM Business Object missing in EEWB in CRM 5.1

Hi All,
do you know why
business object BUPA_MDM for business partner sales area data extension is not available (in previous release yes).
The value help doesn't find it when I create an extansion looking for "EEW Bus. Object".
My CRM relese is CRM 5.1 with:

Display the login User ID on Header in Business Objects XI R3.1 Infoview

In XI R2 Infoview- the login user ID is displayed on header. However In XI R3.1 infoview- displayed Business Objects Logo on the same place of the Header. We noticed that In BO XI3.1 infoview the login user ID is displayed on header. However the Business Objects logo is displayed on top of the user ID so the user ID is hidden. while Setting the Infoview Application properties in CMC (CMC>Applications>Infoview Application Properties> check Do not display logo) then it will hide the logo and then next login displays the login user ID. Could someone please confirm is it the solution with this configuration or else please help us how to display the user ID on Infoview Header.

What you did is exactly correct.
Now you did on XI-R2 and 3.1 right??, whenever you got upgrade to next release of BO version again you have to do the same changing of properties. Which should not be dynamic based on your previous changes on earlier versions.

Signaling start and stop of a Business Objects report execution

Hi we are facing the following issues on Business Objects:
When starting a report we would like to signal to the backend database that the report has stared.
When finishing a report we would like to signal to the backend database that the report execution has ended.
Any idears on how this can be hooked into the reports?

Generic approach to call a method for any business object

My requirement is to call the DISPLAY method of a business object when I have the objectType and objectId.
Say I have BUS2012 and Id 4500001111, now I want to call a method which invoke the DISPLAY method for this object with objectId (say ME_DISPLAY_PURCHASE_DOCUMENT for purchase order). I even have the key fields for the business object.
Is it possible ?

Yes you can call the method for display.Before we can do that we need to fix the procedure for the calling of the method.If you want to call it programitically or you want to call it in task builder or you want to use it as a activity in the work item.we can check for the BUSXXXXXX what ever number is there and we can also check for the activity type pre defined by SAP for it.If suppose you dont have the activity we can create the method for the BOR object type using SWO1.May be it helps your query.

Calling DLLs or Java from Business Objects

Is it possible to invoke a DLL or Java bean when opening a Business Objects query or report?
I've just started working for a very large insurance company in the UK.
Each month the company produces reports for the Directors, for the Auditors and Industry Regulators.
Most of the results that go into the reports are produced using an extremely expensive application called Prophet. It dumps out files with data in.
Ideally the company would like to upload the results from Prophet into Business Objects and have nice numbers show on a report the directors can understand.
The problem is that lots of fiddly adjustment calculations have to be done to the data coming from Prophet before it can be shown on the BO report.
I have proposed that the adjustment calculations are done using a VB DLL which will be called automatically by Business Objects when the user wants to see the report. Can this be done?
Can Business Objects call a DLL?
Your help is very much appreciated.

Why is date format in mm/dd/yy & time 12hs when entering date in Business Objects report paramenters - V4 only?

Since upgrading to FF4 Business Objects XI parameter dates & times are mm/dd/yy & 12hrs as against dd/mm/yy & 24hrs. FF4 even takes previous dates like 1/5/11 (1May11) and interprets it as 5Jan11. Just have to remember which browser I am using, how it is still counter-intuitive for a non-American.

Error message in DTW when choosing any document business object

Hi,
We have an issue uploading AR Invoices, Credit Notes etc. with DTW.
We have installed DI-APIs and DTW on a server, which does not have SBO installed. DI-API was installed by copying and running the installation files from a server with SBO 2005 (680320) installed. This is the same server that we are connecting to in DTW. DTW was also installed by copying the setup.exe file for SBO2005 SP01 from another place.
All business objects work fine (Chart of Accounts, Business Partners, Items etc.) except for all document objects (Credit notes, Invoices etc.). The following error message is received:
"Runtime error!
C:\program files\SAP\Data Transfer Workbench\DTW.exe
abnormal program termination"
We also tried with another data migration program called xFusion Studio. But also here documents upload generates an error message:
"An exception was thrown by target of an invocation"
Do you know if this is due to a problem with the DI-APIs?
Could the problem be related to the fact that SBO is not installed on the server? Anything else?

If the issue was due to SBO not installed on Server then none of the templates should have worked. But you seem to have COA and BP working.
How sure are you that your templates are fine.
If possible could you comment here about the columns of your template that have data.

Java plugin for business objects not found. When trying to modify a business objects query, it says a plugin is required but none are found. What do I need to do?

I downloaded firefox 4.0 and attempted to use business objects. A screen comes up saying that a plugin is required but when I click on the screen, it say's no plugin is found. I am using the latest version of Java but it seems that the plugin is not there.

There is workaround.
Enter “about:config” in the browser’s address bar.
Search for “html5.parser.enable”.
Double-click the row to set the value to “false” (row should also go bold to indicate change).
There is a possibility that it may cause HTML5 compatibility issues down the road but it solved the issue.

Use of MYSQL when installing Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1

Hello Team,
I am quite new Business Objects and right now I am using Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1.
when installing BO XI 3.1, I was prompted to select the database server to be created. I chose MySQL.
Now, I am curious to know the pupose/involvement of a database server for BO. I understand that the database is being managed/used by CMS and it has four main functions:
Maintains security (users)
Manages objects (folders, reports, and program objects)
Manages servers (services)
Manages auditing (system auditor).
Is there any better explanation to the database and its purpose?
what does the database schema/user holds (any database objects,tables,etc..,)?
Does repository and database schema the same?
Are all the report objects, users and universe being stored in the database schema?

CMS handles security and routes the request to other services.
Yes, CMS also maintains the BOE repository.
CMS is responsible for authenticating users and groups, and keeping track of the availability of the other BusinessObjects Enterprise services. If CMS is down then users wont be able to log into BOE.
Report Objects, Universe are stored in the Input File Repository and the instances are stored in Output File Repository server.
In simple words, CMS is like heart of BOE.
