Why can I not connect to the Enterprise Portal?

I downloaded & installed  the free trial version of the Web AS 6.40 on my laptop. I developed some test portal application and want to deploy this on the WEB AS server. The message I get is each time :
Unable to connect to the Portal. Operation failed. Connection refused:connect. Please make sure the server localhost:8080 is running.
Settings J2EE Engine
"SAP J2EE Engine is installed on local host" checked
system:J2E
J2EE instance:0
SCS instance: 1
Settings Portal server:
alias: leen
host: localhost
Port: 8080
Login: administrator
Description: test
I started the SAP system with Start->Programs->SAP Management Console, right clicking the system node J2E and selecting start. Does this start also the EP??

have you manually switched the port to 8080? By default, the j2ee engine's web server listens on port 50000 (or 50000+ system no*100  if system no != 00). The error "connection refused: connect" tells me, that there is currently no service listening on port 8080.
On windows you can check the currently listening ports by entering netstat -a on the command line. Does 8080 show up there after having started the J2ee engine?

    This is the second time in less than a year that I cannot access the ITunes Store for updates to my IPad. I have reset my settings with no luck. Can someone help because Apple does not seem to want to.?

    Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

    If you can't access iCloud Mail at iCloud.com

    I cannot connect to the iTunes store on my iPhone for some reason.  I have reentered the password, shut the phone on and off a few times and have been able to connect to the iTunes store on my computer.  This is a pretty big problem and I don't understand why it is happening.

    Looks like there's a general problem across the US and UK at Apple's end. I've not been able to connect since this morning and there are loads of threads on here about the same issue.

  • Why can I not connect to the internet efficiently?

    It seems the only place my mac is able to connect effectively to the internet is at the genius bar when I take it in to resolve this issue.
    At home, my girlfriend is able to connect to our linksys internet on her macbook wirelessly, however right next to her, I am not able to do so.
    At my house where I recently was able to connect fully, it is now slow and soon fades away after time.
    I find my internet to be slow in many places ex: Starbucks, other homes, etc.
    When I run both assitant and diagnostic it gets me nowhere.
    Is there a setting in my network that could be changed or some sort of preferences in advanced I can change to fix the problem?

    The router is wep code. I put in the right #'s. it worked for a while, then quit working.  I restarted the router and everything.

    If you do not have an iPad with 3G cellular service, you can only connect to the internet when you have access to Wifi.  Wifi is not available everywhere, but there are places that do offer free Wifi service, such as Starbucks, Panera Bread, the Airport, etc.  When you are at a location which offers free Wifi access, you have to join their network, which is usuall nothing more than touching a connect option that should automatically pop up, when you open Safari on your ipad.

    I assume all of your network connections are OK,  you can get to the internet and that you aren't blocked by something like an enterprise firewall.  Are those assumptions correct?  .  My experience has been that from time to time, the update server get's "maxxed out", and if you try later it will work.
