Why can I not copy text from a file and paste into "File Name" when saving?

I thought I used to do this but I cannot copy a string of text from within AI (CS5, CS6 or CC) then "save as" and paste into the "file name" field. Why would this be?
This proceedure works fine in Photoshop.
Mac OSX 10.7.5.

I am copying the characters not the object. Something seems to have changed at the system level. I can paste the text to other applications (Skype, Word, etc.) but not the "Save" dialog. I have been pasting the text to a Skype message window and re-copying. Then it will paste into the save dialog. Weird.
I see you are on 10.6.8. Maybe it's a system difference.

I have just downloaded Mavericks and I am looking into the desktop version of ibooks. It seems like I can copy text from free books but not from a book that I bought. It is the first and only book that I have bought on ibooks. I would like to start using ibooks for my studies, but it only really makes sense for me if I can copy text from the book and paste it in Word or Pages. Is this a common problem? Why can I not do a Wi-Fi sync, and what should I expect when I do?

My wife and I each have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4 all with OIS 5, and I don't understand how iTunes wi-fi sync is supposed to work assuming that you can help me get it to work. Her laptop is running Windows Vista, and my pc is running Windows XP. My first question is why can I not achieve a wi-fi sync after following the simple instructions on the Apple devices in Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync? My second question is does Wi-Fi Syncing sync everything as does a cable-connected sync or is it only for syncing iTunes Store purchases with our Apple devices and our Windows versions of iTunes and not for photos or music files not purchased from iTunes? Sync does the same thing regardless of whether is is via the cable or Wi-Fi... there is no difference.
Now, if you want help on why the Wi-Fi sync is not working, it would help to provide some details on what is or is not happening.

I'm trying to copy text from a web page, and when I paste it in Note or in a new email, it copied the web page link, not the text. Doing this in iPad. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

I think it depends on what you are trying to copy.
To copy, put your finger on the text and hold until the copy thing shows up. Adjust the size to whatnyou want, then touch copy.( I know, you already knew that). To paste, touch the screen where you want it to go until the paste thing shows up.
I just did it

Some pages are set up so that you cannot copy words or images.
So try a different page to see if you are doing it right.
If you want, post the link to the page and we call all try it as well.

Why can't I copy a Url address anymore and paste it into an email or somewhere else ?

I downloaded the newest version of Firefox and I can no longer highlite and copy any URL address so that I can paste them somewhere. This is not good as I often will want to copy and paste a Url address and now I can't. This is not progress to me at all . I have downloaded the Theme Penguin 3.9.7 as that is the background I had used in the older version of firefox and now it doesn't look anything like what it used to be ...at all... or for that matter what is shows what it is in the choices of the themes.. If I disable it , then I can highlite and copy a Url address but not if I have it enabled. I also can't even type in a URL address into the address bar at all. So does this mean I can't use a theme and have to just stay with the regular firefox theme? It will let me copy a URL but only if I use that theme.

I want to copy the text on Korean blogs, but I can't even select the text... or anything on the page (not even pictures). Anyone know a workaround for this? I'd really appreciate it!

These sites uses a script to (somehow) disable selection. To copy from these sites, you might need to disable JavaScript. There is an on/off button type extension that you can use to do that quickly/temporarily.

jscher2000, it was my fault for the disappearance of Private Browsing. In changing the Privacy settings I inadvertantly checked the box that takes Private Browsing away. All is good now except the Copy/Paste issue.

Make sure that you haven't set set the pages as multiple home pages.

It was working fine a week ago, did not install or delete anything in this time, the options from the pull down menu are ghosted, ctrl+c ctrl+v doesnt work. I could use paste special from the pull down menu and did. Paste special worked once, now is ghosted too.

Try renaming the Configuration folder to Configuration-backup.

It's possible they aren't in the right format. See this list to verify you have the correct format. I know some Sony cameras use the ARW interface (known as RAW).
You may want to use a photo converter like photoshop, etc. to get photos into .jpeg or other file formats.

Thank you, but I still haven't solved my problem. I tried the reset suggestion. But I cannot find print.print_printer preference. Maybe the word "printer" is to be replaced with the name of my printer. But because of the warning that making any changes is a very dangerous thing to do, I hesitated to do anything.
I have located the Print to file option, but it is not checked.
This problem did not exist before the Firefox update of about 6 months ago. Today I downloaded the latest Firefox update, hoping that would solve my problem, but it did not.

Do you have a smaller capacity micro SD card to try? I seem to remember from past posts that users were having problems with cards larger than 32GB, however, Apple's page doesn't mention this.

For Gmail attachments, if they are PDF files (as well as many other formats) when you are viewing them on the iPad in Safari there is an option to "Open in iBooks" just below the tab you have open (at the top of the page).
From iBooks you can print them to a wireless printer easily.

I don't mind paying in euros or paypal, which ever.
I think the stores should be compatable or should allow buying from another country.

The short answer is that the content owners do not allow Apple to sell content across country borders. It's not by Apple's choice.

O.K. Everything seems to be in order now!
I don't know what happened but this is the results....
After attempting to edit change the information on my iTunesMS account at least 7 times, I posted the above question, logged out of iTunes, closed down all my apps and turned off my computer.
A few hours later, I thought I would give it one more try and when I turned on iTunes, went to the Music Store and then 'reviewed' my account... it had my old American address on it with the country listed as Sweden... I just left it alone, as it didn't have my credit card info listed at all... Curiously, I'm clueless about that (though I did send this same complaint to Apple during the first posting... did that have anything to do with it?) When I clicked the continue button (without changing any info) it prompted me that I was finished setting up my iTunes Music Store account and I was immediately able to download some songs....(using the iTunes Music card--- I have not tried my MasterCard!)
So basically, I did nothing except close iTunes, turn off my computer and later rebooted it and opened iTunes! Strange... does that seem like a fix or what?
