Why can I not fully change the icon?

Skype is like this as well, and I'd like to know why some programs you absolutely CANNOT change the icon that appears in the taskbar, Chrome did this, but I was able to get around it by pinning the shortcut with the custom icon to the taskbar, I was unable to accomplish this with iTunes (as well as Skype).
Why not?
What possible reason is there to not allow us to completely change the icon?

I am not understanding how to copy the icon from Preview... I open the graphic and click "Edit - Copy" then click on the icon I want to swap it out with in "Get Info" and click "Edit - Paste" and nothing happens. I cannot use keyboard shortcuts as I do not have an Apple keyboard at the moment.

  • Why can I not get my flashdrive icon to change?

    I recently purchased a refurbished iMac from work (I am a graphic artist so this was one of the old computer I worked on until we received new ones). I am trying to change the icon that represents my flashdrive and it is being very subborn. I have followed all the instructions possible via Google and YouTube to go into "Get Info" and copy & paste the icon over that of the flashdrive, but all I see now is the default preview icon that just says the file type (i.e. .png, .ico, .icns, etc.). Even when I choose "Get Info" on the icon, the icon is not that top icon, the default preview is. Below is the icon I am refering to.
    I cannot find any help via the internet and I cannot even change the icons back to their original state... I find this incredibly frustrating and annoying. Can anyone provide me with some information/insite on this and a possible way to fix the icon?

    I was given a file to make some changes to.  I can open the file and some items are selectable but others are not.  Can not copy them or make changes.  Wondering why?  Some are pictures and some are text.

    Oh  Thank you so much.  I am new to this program and am wanting to purchase the monthly program.   But I want to know that I can learn to use it.  I have 30 days to get some things worked out.  Thank you so much.  I guess I created mine on the master so are you telling me I can create a layer effect like in Photoshop and have different stuff on different layers and yet have them all show or just some.  I would like to create the unchangeables on the master and then just add layers for changeables. 
    Elaine   I wish there was a book to look at.  But I am really working at this so I can know  if this is the program for me.  I am familiar with Photo shop and maybe this works similar.

  • Why can't a customer change the length of time before voice-mail picks up??

    I spent nearly half an hour on the phone yesterday with tech support attempting to lengthen the amount of time that elapses before voice mail answers from 30 to 40 seconds.  This use to be the easiest of settings to modify, even from first generation mobile phones.  Heck, you didn't even have to call tech support for such a simple change - just accomplish it from phone settings.  I was informed by Verizon tech support that now all Verizon phones have a standard 30 second time to pick up and IT CAN NOT BE CHANGED!!!  Ridiculous!  I use my phone for business and each time a miss a call it represents a potential lost customer.  Give me the extra freakin 10 seconds to answer please - come on Verizon!!!

  • Why can I not connect to the internet efficiently?

    It seems the only place my mac is able to connect effectively to the internet is at the genius bar when I take it in to resolve this issue.
    At home, my girlfriend is able to connect to our linksys internet on her macbook wirelessly, however right next to her, I am not able to do so.
    At my house where I recently was able to connect fully, it is now slow and soon fades away after time.
    I find my internet to be slow in many places ex: Starbucks, other homes, etc.
    When I run both assitant and diagnostic it gets me nowhere.
    Is there a setting in my network that could be changed or some sort of preferences in advanced I can change to fix the problem?

    The router is wep code. I put in the right #'s. it worked for a while, then quit working.  I restarted the router and everything.

  • Why can we not pre-order the Iphone 4 due to tech problems? The US seams ok

    I have been trying to pre-Oreder the new Iphone and I have had no joy. For over an hour now the uk web page has had problems.
    I do not think is fair how other webpages on other countries like the US have no problem on making orders but the uk for some reason can not make any orders yet! Convenience?
    I can not even make it over the phone, why?
    I feel like the US is getting priority on this like the Ipad, although we are meant to be able to pre order on the same day.
    If you are not able to pre-order in a certain country, no one should be able to pre-order elsewhere. I am not happy the way this is being done, I understand Apple has technical problems, so stop pre orders deal with it and then start again.
    Like everybody who wants an Iphone 4 I can not waist all day trying to acces the website as I have work to do.
    But I also do not want to come to pre-order and havbing to wait longer than the 24th June becouse too many people have been ordering this while the uk site has been down.

    I was able to order the bumpers for it about 45 min ago and now I have order the Iphone 4, but I still have friends that have not been able to order.

    Yuo can pre-order the iPhone 6 for a coupe carries but not US cellular (which is my carrier). Just wondering why that is.

    Preorders are not live yet.
    Us cellular is not a major carrier and will not be sold by Apple.
    You will have to go through the carrier to get one, when they carry it.

  • Why can i not update to the new version of iPhoto and Garageband through the appstore?

    Just updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.0 last night. There's a lot of new stuff in here that I'd like to figure out. So naturally, I launched Safari on my phone, went to Bookmarks, scrolled down, and hit iPhone User Guide.
    When I do that, I get a 404 error that looks like it's coming from a regular website, not from the mobilized site that used to contain the User Guide. This site has been dead all day today.
    Is there a new way I'm supposed to be reading the help files on my iPhone under iOS 6.0? Why is the site dead?

    You have several options:
    Go to http://support.apple.com/manuals/#iphone with Sarari on your phone and create your own bookmark; or
    Download the free iBooks app on your phone, then download the .pdf to your MBP, import it to iTunes and sync it to your phone by selecting it on the Books tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  The manual will appear on the bookshelf in iBooks and you can tap on it and read it on your phone whenever your want.

    This is the second time in less than a year that I cannot access the ITunes Store for updates to my IPad. I have reset my settings with no luck. Can someone help because Apple does not seem to want to.?

    Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.
