Why can I only select the 'I' beam tool?

Audition CS6 in Master Collection...I'm new to it so it might be finger trouble on my part, but I'm working on an MP3 file and all I can get is the I beam tool. The others (move, razor, slip, marquee etc.) are visible, but not active. Any ideas?

Yeah I know, I'm talking about clicking on the tool bar at the top left. I've got the I beam cursor. That's it. I cant choose any of the other tools to the left or right of the I beam icon. ('Select' probably wasn't the appropriate word) Maybe I'll reinstall it. Does that mean I have to reinstall all of Master Collection too? And all my Premiere and Photoshop plugins ? I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64bit btw

Why can't I use the Basic brush tool?

I'm learning the ropes of drawing in Illustrator and I've fallen at the first hurdle. Why can't I use the Basic brush tool? Whenever I select the brush tool and use the 'Basic' brush type, the cursor turns into a hashed circle indicating I can't draw. If I load other brushes, I can draw with other brush types, but I can't use the Basic one. If I select the Basic brush when I have other brushes loaded and try to draw with it, it always defaults to a different brush! I don't understand why.
On a related matter, I'm also having trouble changing brush size. I know that using the [ and ] keys changes brush size, but I have no idea what the values are. If I try this in Photoshop, I can see the brush size in the Options bar, but in Illustrator it doesn't appear anywhere! Not in the Brushes palette, the Stroke palette or the Appearance palette. Where can I see the brush size?

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Language recognition: why can I only select english for transcription?

I found an introductory video explaining language recognition. there the user could transcribe audio metadata and select different languages. when I do this, all lanugages apart from English (USA) are grey and can not be selected. Why could this be? Just a question of downloading a language plugin?

I can't replicate this. It gives me a number of options, German, US, UK, Korean, Italian etc. and none are greyed out.
AFAIK there is no plugin to install. IIRC you have the opportunity to select the transcription languages on installation. In that case a reinstall may help.

Why can I only view the DCIM folder?

Im trying to back up my music from my ipod to my windows 7 but when i go to the folders in the ipod i only see the DCIM folder and I noticed it's categorized as a digital camera... Is there anyway i can change this so i can move my songs back onto my computer?

Did you install iTunes? iTunes is the only way to back things up and sync content, unless your device is jailbroken. But that's a different story.
The reason why you only see the DCIM folder is mainly for security. You don't want a virus on your computer to mess around with the system files in your shiny iDevice, don't you? What you see instead is just a list of photos that you have saved from the internet or taken with the camera.

Why can I only write the samples to read during continuous acquisition?

I am acquiring analog voltage signals and attemting to write to a text file when condition is true, thus there is continuous acquisition. However, the written files only contain 100 samples (the size of my buffer).. I need my files to read samples until the while loop is stopped. How can I go abotu doing this?

I have been able to make this work, but it only writes the buffer size. I am new to labview and programming in general and I have tried to make a producer and consumer design however I dont seem to understand the concept properly and fail to run my program properly... So here's my code before any attempt to producer/consumer design which only writes 100 samples to file. Advice on how to modify it to producer/consumer because Im not even sure where to start.

Why can I only see the iTunes Task Bar on my Mac?

I am a new Mac user.
I tried to sync the music on my iTunes on my iPhone 4 with my Apple Macbook Pro last night and got some error messages.
Today when I click on the iTunes icon on the Mac I can only see the iTunes task bar accross the top of the screen.
What has happened and what can I do about it?

If you mean that you see only the iTunes bar and nothing else, not even the normal menus, you probably have iTunes in full-screen mode. Press the Escape key or move your cursor to the very top of the screen, then click the blue double-arrow icon at the very upper-right corner:

Why can I only download the trial for Illustrator CC

I am a Creative Cloud member and it seems like I can only download the trial for Illustrator CC. I was under the impression that I would be able to upgrade my current CS6 to the full CC versions of all the programs. Has anyone else had this problem? And how do I fix it?

Why can I only forward the first page of file?

When I try to forward a PDF file from my Mac it will only send the first page and it is not in file form.

Pretty sure that's it with a Mac. It just shows the cover page (page 1) in the body of the email.
When the receiver gets it, they should see the rest.

Why can I only see the mobile version of certain websites instead of the full site?

some website are shown only in mobile version instead or full version, even when I click on the link that says "full site" I get redirected to the mobile version. This only happens in Firefox since I've tried other browsers too.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Why can i only select one LUN for repository creation from the list of LUNs

1) have successfully created a server pool with heartbeat/cluster lun of 15GB storage
2) Now trying to create repositories for VMs - Unable to select more then 1LUN per repository - we have a requirement of over 14TB and have 1TB per LUN does this mean we will require 14 repositories??? Please help

right....It seems as though we will have to have 1TB LUNs per Repository, one question that comes to mind is that is it possible for a single VM to use more then one repository any ideas... ??
so for example if a VM needs to utilise remaining free space from a LUN is this possible or if a VM needs a bigger partition then 1TB can we use 2 x repositories to build this partition?? as we have max 1TB LUNs from storage.
Or will we have to request a amendment to the size of LUNs to increase to 2TB from storage? 2TB being max supported to a repository

Why can I only open the ringtone editor once per song?

I thought the free song of the week (Carol of the Bells) had a section that would make a good ringtone. I opened the ringtone editor to see how it worked and whether I could pick out the section I wanted. I then cancelled out of the ringtone editor since I don't even have an iPhone yet and it struck me as premature to actually buy a ringtone I can't use. Now the ringtone symbol is gone from that song. What gives?

A few things:
1. If there are different versions of the song in your library or in iTunes, some are supported for ringtones, and others are not - I know that sounds silly but it's true... it will be available on one album but not another.
2. Sometimes there are glitches with the ringtone icon. They are still, and constantly, rolling out new ringtones. Sometimes the icon comes and goes.
The best, and only, confirmed way to see if a ringtone is available is to right click a song and select "create ringtone". Some songs, even without a bell, will be supported.

The spot healing brush is designed for use in Spectral Frequency Display mode--click on the tool with the red/orange display at the other end of the tools from the one you want to use and you should get the control you want.
Beyond that, to get the best out of the tool you'd probably draw around the specific mix of frequency and time you want to "heal" rather to just try to manipulate a single sample.
Have a play--you can do some pretty amazing things with the spot healing brush.

Quicktime and Playing Audio CDs - Why Can't I Select the Whole CD to Play?

I unfortunately agreed to update my Quicktime software when prompted by Apple. Since then, when I try to play audio CDs while working on my Mac, I have to select one song at a time and then select "play" in order to hear it. Now, only 48 hours ago, all I had to do was double click on the audio CD and the whole thing would play with no problem. This is why I am so wary of this so-called "convenient" and "user friendly" update alerts because you never know what the update actually contains and how it is going to change the behavior of your computer!

Would assume most people now use iTunes to import/convert audio files for playback/storage on their computer/iPod and/or burning of custom MP3 CDs which hold on the order of 10 times as much music and are compatible with most current generation CD/DVD players.
