Why can i receive but not send mms?

i have the iphone 3g and have upgraded to 3.0
i can receive mms, but not send them. the bar goes to about 90% of the way, then i am left with a red blob, telling me it failed.
any idea why or what to do to resolve it?

Who's your provider?
I had the same problem with Optus in Australia.
It turned out to be a problem with my profile at their end. I was set to be a prepaid customer, when really I have an account. They fixed it in a few seconds by recreating my profile.

Why can I receive but not send emails on my i pad?

Perhaps the outgoing mail server settings are incorrect or incomplete.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

With sparse information you give I would venture that you have not set up the correct Outgoing Mail Server settings in Mail>Preferences>Accounts. Contact your ISP for their set up.

  • Why can I receive but not send messages through Mail?

I recently installed a wireless router (linksys). I can send mail at the local coffee shop, yet here at home I can't. I know it's something very simple, but I'm giving up...and asking for help in fear of tweaking the settings beyond my knowledge. I get a popup that tells me I can't use the listed server for outgoing mail. I have a couple choices...1) lynksys 2)stmp.mac.com:tugboater.
I wish I could get it set up...Its annoying to have to use mt yahoo address.
    Heelllppp!

Help! I have read through this string, but not found an answer. I too, can receive emails but not send them. The problem started last week - I've been successfully using my mail account for 2 years and then last week, stuff I send just disappears - no error messages. I didn't change any settings or do any updates. All sent messages show in my "sent" folder, as well. I have tried everything, including restoring my hard drive from a backup copy made before I was having difficulty.
I used suggestions in the online help, including using the "ping" function to see if I was communicating with my outgoing mail server. Trying to ping mail.mac.com I get the error message:
    "PING mail.mac.com (17.250.248.152): 56 data bytes
    --- mail.mac.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
I am using mail and .mac mail through a cable DSL line and Airport wireless connection.
I tried changing my outgoing port to 110 and to 25 without help.
    Any thoughts?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Can receive but not send MMS on z1 compact

So I've had this phone for about a year now and I've never had an issue receiving pictures and I'm fairly sure that I used to be able to send them. However, whenever I send a picture as an MMS it takes a while saying "sending" then "queued for sending" despite nothing else being queued, then a while later (sometimes hours or even the next day) it will notify me of a failed message. Also when I go to internet and MMS settings I click it and it downloads automatically, I've seen many suggestions to do this and needing to select a carrier or what have you. I have tried to send with and without wifi on. Switched the phone on and off, airplane mode on and off the whole nine yards. Any suggestions would be great!
Also I am on Virgin and I checked with them that my APN was set up correctly and it is

    Hi christophtaylor94,
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
This could possibly be SIM card related, I suggest trying an alternative SIM in the handset and try sending a message, if it works, then it is going to be network/SIM related.
Failing the above, a software repair would be the next step, I would suggest however performing a backup first.
    Backup & Restore
And follow the instructions below for performing a software repair.
    1. Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
    2. Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.
Note! For some models you will be prompted to do a backup prior to the update and then restore.
    3. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
    4. Phone Software Update.
    5. Start.
    6. Repair Phone
    7. Continue
    8. Accept data removal
    9. Next
    10. Wait for prepare
    11. Select Phone
    12. Follow the connection steps

Superb advice R&W!  My email sending block using TalkTalk started 2 months ago using Snow Leopard, continued when I upgraded to 10.8.2, and has been persistent on my wife's new iPad (IOS 6.1).  Implementing your wise words has fixed all that, and now enables me to call her on FaceTime — previously only she could call me.  Thank you so much; this will save hours of further fruitless searching and phoning.
Please remember that your email is now insecure, if you wish to have a secure connection SSL must be on and port 25 should be avoided.
