  • Why can't I login to iMessages from my Mac?

Why can't I login to iMessages from my Mac? It just started all of a sudden, all my iMessage conv's are offline. I tried but get an error message that states "Your Apple ID "xxxxxxxx" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time" and then a customer code to contact apple. This would require a pay for advice payment I'd rather not do.
    Anyone have any ideas?

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know, but according to reports, it can sometimes mean that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a no-charge service.
Otherwise, do what the alert tells you to do. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID" as the product and cite the customer code in the alert as the "validation code" to the representative.

  • Can't sign in on iMessage on my Mac, but can on my iPad and iPhone??

I can't sign in on my iMessage on my Mac.  When I put in my user name and password it just spins....  till I cancel it.  rebooted.  Password is correct - if I type an incorrect one, it lets me know.  Thoughts?   Preferences isn't available to check either.  FRUSTRATED!!!

If you are having trouble signing into Messages on your Mac, try the steps outlined below:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/ts3970
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website. Other things you should confirm while logged into appleid.apple.com:Note You may experience issues if your email address is associated with more than one Apple ID. If you have multiple Apple IDs, log in to appleid.apple.com with each Apple ID and confirm that each email address you wish to use for FaceTime or Messages is associated with only a single Apple ID.
Confirm that the email addresse(s) for your Apple ID has been verified.
Check for miss-types of the email address
Check the spelling of the email address
Check that all letters are lower case
Make sure that special characters are correct, e.g. no commas (,) where there is supposed to be full stops (.), etc.
Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Data & Time preferences, in System Preferences. Tip: Enable "Set date and time automatically" in Date & Time preferences to automatically keep this information accurate.
If third-party firewall or port filtering software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections to apple.com, verisign.com and verisign.net. A list of ports required for using FaceTime and Messages is in Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall. Please consult this article for further help configuring firewalls and Internet security software.

Sign out of your Apple ID at these locations on your Mac:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Hi, why can't I use the iMessage on my iPhone? I've already had my apple id email on it but it keeps saying "waiting for activation" always like that. No progress. Could anybody help me on this? Cheers

Hi, why can't I use the iMessage on my iPhone? I've already had my apple id email on it but it keeps saying "waiting for activation" always like that. No progress. Could anybody help me on this? Cheers

I have an old iPod Touch with old software that can no longer be updated:
    iOS version 6.1.6
I've been searching for a solution to my iMessage login problem for months and tried everything from those frustrating links and all the tips from other users.
    Here is what finally worked:
    1) Settings > Privacy > Location Services > On
    2) Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically > On
    3) Reboot device until Apple logo appears
    4) Settings > Messages > Sign In

  • I can login all accounts except imessage on my mac! why?

i tried everything to use imessage after updating my os to mountain lion on my mac but cant solve my problem... can anyone say why i cant use imessage on my mac?.. i can use all my accounts (iCloud, app store, iTunes etc.) using my apple id and have no problems using on my iphone (i can use imessage on my phone) either but when i try to sign in to imessage on my mac i get this message; "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." for two days. I tried and tried and tried, again and again but i got the same message!... anyone solved this please help!

    Back up all data.
Take the steps suggested in this support article:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: "There was an error processing registration" when signing in
The time zone must be correct for your location.
Make sure you know your ID (an email address) and password. The password should be in your keychain, which you access in the Keychain Access application.
    Sign out of iMessage:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
Then sign back in with your verified credentials.
If you get the same error, try resetting the NVRAM.

Here is a solution that worked for me, after nothing else would. Log out and back in to iTunes on your Mac/PC.
I had exactly the same problems as above, and no amount of network changes or even a full restore would help.
Finally, I went back to my PC, launched iTunes, logged OUT of that, then signed in again, this time with the new password.
Then I had to go back, and properly close Facetime and iMessages and sign in. It worked fine after that.
(To properly close an application, double click the home button, then hold down on the facetime app logo in the multitasking bar at the bottom, then press the tiny symbol.)
    Best of luck.

  • Why can't I get my iMessage & ICloud to work on my iPad???

Why can't I get my iMessage & ICloud to work on my iPad???

    No idea.
Perhaps if you gave a few details of exactly what happens, exactly what you've tried, exactly what troubleshooting steps you've taken, and what error messages you get we may be able to offer some suggestions.
However, with zero info to go on, it's impossible to say.

I can't sign in to imessages and face time with my apple ID, how i can fix it ?

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Why can't I send an iMessage to someone from my iPad unless they message me first?

Why can't I send an iMessage to someone from my iPad unless they message me first?  Even if it is someone I have chatted with on iMessage before, if they have been cleared off my screen, I can't send them anything unless they message me first.  I know for a fact they have an up to date iPhone.

    OK.
Turn off and on (restart) your iOS device (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds, then slide the slider.)
    If restarting doesn’t fix it:
It has been reported that changing your DNS settings fixes this issue. To change DNS servers, follow these instructions for iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad):
    Tap Settings
Tap Wi-Fi on the left-hand side
Tap the blue arrow next to your current Wi-Fi network
Tap the “DNS” field and enter the DNS servers; 8.8.8.8
Now see if it is working.

I can't sign in to iMessage or FaceTime. I put my password in and click "Sign In," but then it doesn't verify my email. It says that a verification email was sent to my email address, but I never get an email. There are no emails from Apple in my inbox or my spam.

What is the full text of the message that you are getting ?
Messages about countries usually refer to the country that you have on your iTunes account. You have your correct billing address on your account, and you are in that country ? If you can't log into your account directly on your phone to view/correct your address details (e.g. via Settings > iTunes & App Store), then can you do it via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com ?
