Why can I watch hd shows much sooner on my mac than on my atv2?

Why am I able to start watching an hd show within a minute into the download on my Mac, yet on my apple tv it takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes? It is an iMac intel core duo 2 ghz with 2 gigs of memory. I get about 4 to 5 mbs. I've tried rebooting both apple tv and router. I do not have custom dns settings.
I tested this with the exact same movie file on both my computer and apple tv within minutes apart. Nothing else was downloading and the internet connection was not being used both times. I stopped the download on my computer before attempting to download the file on my apple tv. It was 1.32 gb in size. The file played instantly on my computer, yet took 10 minutes on my apple tv to be ready.
This is not a random occurrence. For a long time, I could play all hd content almost instantly on my computer, yet on my apple tv, it takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the file and the time of day. I've also tried a direct connect form my apple tv to my router so i know it's not my wifi, but ive gotten the same results.

There may be more to this - there was another thread - I think but may be wrong (and only just realised) that the OP said they can play instantly in iTunes - this has never been the case for me with movies - it has to download fully first, but I'm not sure if same applies to TV Show rentals that I don't get in UK.
jjay91 suggests in the other thread that they start playback by intermittently clicking on the download in the downloads section of iTunes - this might just start playback of the incomplete file which wouldn't play through without stop/starts OR perhaps will play due to not utilising as much of a 'safety buffer' as AppleTV does.

That's a built in limitation of iOS. If you need to send messages to larger groups of people, you'll either need to send them in batches of 10 or use a dedicated group messaging app. GroupMe works pretty well. Blackberry Messenger is also an option, though I don't like the interface as much.

NNot sure if anyone help you resolve this or if it works with Mavericks but with Yosemite I couldn't send From iPhone 5 or iPad mini 2 because my Macbook Pro wasn't able to be seen via AirDrop. After a grueling 4 hours with support and factory resets of both devices I was transferred to the CPU Support team, which resolved my issue in about 3 mins. Needless to say I wasn't happy but figured I should help anyone else in the same boat as me. I have both devices operating on iOS 8 and MacBook pro rubbing Yosemite.
1. Open Finder Window -> Airdrop -> Change setting for "Allow me to be discovered by:" to no one and close the finder window.
2. Go To Apple Logo -> Force Quit -> Select Finder from App List -> Force Quit.
3. Open Finder Window -> Airdrop -> Change setting for "Allow me to be discovered by:" to everyone and try to send file from iPad / iPhone to computer.
This process allowed the computer to be seen / recornized on the iOS deVice. Hope this helps.

I am wanting to watch a show that i have on the NBC app on my IPAD2 but i want to move it to my apple tv. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to get this to happen? The apple tv shows that it has access to my apple ID but i am not a computer guy so i don't know what to do here. Thanks for any help!

Use AirPlay if the app supports it, not all do.

Welcome to the Apple community.
I am not entirely sure what it is that you are asking about. You cannot play iTunes content through a DVD player and in order to play through your TV you must either connect your computer with the appropriate cables or use an Apple TV.

I'm really disappointed that I can't watch tv shows on my iPad 2.....because of flash issue....are there any apps that help?

Can't watch TV Shows on ipod once I've watched them once.

Just got my Video Ipod a couple of weeks ago. Once I watch, or start to watch a show on my ipod. If i sync again, they are no longer on my ipod and I can't get them back on. Will it only let you watch them once? If so that's BS. New to the whole Video part, any thoughts or help would be great.

Are you using itunes 7? if so, what you need to do is connect your ipod and let itunes recognize it. Then, go to the screen on itunes where it displays the info about your ipod. Click on Videos, and adjust the settings so that it syncs all of your videos. You will have to do this because I believe the default setting is to only sync videos that you have not seen yet. let me know if you need more assistance or if i have not been clear enough (since i am just typing this from memory)

Can I watch purchased shows without downloading

I'd like to watch tv shows I've already purchased without downloading them to my laptop. The only options I can find other than downloading deal with Apple TV and Airplay. Seems like there should be someway to watch them directly from the cloud. If it makes any difference, if working with a PC running Win 7.

Why can i watch videos from safari online while in 3g area but when at home connected to wi-fi the video screen comes up with a play button with a line through it and doesnt let you watch video

i can not watch videos while at home and connected to wi-fi. when i touch the video i want to watch a screen comes up with a play symbol with a line through it. i can disconnect from the wi-fi and go to 3g and the video will play. this is happening when i go to safari and try to watch a online video.

My partner and I both have seperate iTunes accounts, understandably. And we both use our appleTV, understandably. Why can't we set up apple TV to play music / watch shows from both of our computers? I hope this is not because I haven't read the manual.

You CAN use the ATV to share more than one iTunes library. Homesharing however require you to use the SAME apple ID on both computer. I have homesharing turned on both my girlfriend and my computer with me signed in on both computers and the ATV. Both itunes librarie show up on the ATV as long as both computer are ON.

How can I make ringtones show in my Tones tab rather than the Music tab?

I just bought my first iPhone 4 and uploaded a bunch of music ringtone files to iTunes and changed the default preference to display the Tones tab. However, the ringtones all got added to the Music tab rather than the Tones tab. I have a number of questions:
I'm used to other phones where any music file can be set as a ringtone for a particular contact. Is this the case for iPhones too?
If so, how can I set a ringtone for a contact from these music files?
If not, how can I get the ringtones to appear in the Tones tab? I assume that I would have to do that to sync ringtones to my iPhone ringtone "folder".
Is there another alternative? I read on the forum something about dragging ringtone files to the iPhone. Not sure I understood that! Does this mean I can drag a music file from the Music tab to the iPhone icon and have that file end up in the iPhone ringtone "folder"? If it ends up in the Music "folder", how do I access it to set it as a contact ringtone?

It would be good if this was made a user-defined Option (Tools -> Options -> Tabs) in the next update of Firefox rather than having to install an add-on. I currently keep Firefox open to view my Accuweather.com add-on running or because I know that I will be returning to Firefox in short order. (I do close Firefox if I have visited a sensitive or secure site to ensure better security.) Every time I want to go to a bookmark, I must open a new "(Untitled)" tab before selecting my bookmark using the keyboard (I'm a dedicated keystroker; it's much faster for me). This way, when I close the website, I have an "(Untitled)" tab displaying so that Firefox doesn't close. Why can't I set an Option parameter that will result in me not having to go through this? Alternatively, allow users to set an option to keep Firefox loaded and open in the event only one tab is open and maybe if only one Firefox application window is running (I avoid having more than one Firefox window open as much as possible). I've addressed this last issue in the past but have seen no change when one closes the last tab in a Firefox window. As general practice, I would think that Firefox would run better if options, like I have described above, were part of the Firefox application code and not given to needing an add-on which may cause instability in Firefox as they have in the past, even with author verification and certification.

I was under the impression that with Mountain Lion that i would be able to use Mirroring, but i see that its only mirroring from Mac to Apple TV, or iphone / ipad to Apple TV. Why can't you use airplay to mirror my ipad to my Mac without having to buy Apple TV? If the new mac has airplay, why do i need Apple TV? My mini is connected to my 55 inch LED TV, thus i don't need an Apple TV to watch content. Seems redundant to have both really.
