Why can it not find a network? Phone or provider?

Need help...
Bought iPhone 4s locked to orange from eBay on ios 7.0.4
Got the phone, connected to iTunes, was already default factory settings, restored by previous owner...
Activated phone, placed orange sim in when asked in but all I get in the top left corner where network should be is "searching"
Checked sim, worked in an older mobile, network coverage good.
Tried virgin sim too, (aware could work on orange network) and although recognised card, ie asking if I wanted to transfer virgin settings over, still had "searching" in top left corner.
Contacted apple, did reset, restore etc, they told me to contact orange regarding this issue to make sure that they have updated my account with the new IMEI number.
Contacted orange, technical dept said could be due to the fact that the iPhone may still be on contract, and me placing a different sim in it is confusing the phone.
They asked me to get the previous number the phone was contracted too.
Did that from the seller, phoned orange back up and told that doesn't matter, doesn't make sense what I was told, contract info is on the sim, not phone so doesn't matter, in any case couldn't use the number as meant looking at another persons account...my sim as far as they are concerned is fine...
Help... Is it the phone or is it the network, ie sim or the fact it was previously on contract
Thankfully seller understanding, should get money back, but not sure what to do next...

Sorry, sent before completed above post...
Relates to a question, can an orange payg sim work in an EE phone...
Conclusion is it cannot. Although listing for phone said locked to orange, it did arrive in an EE box.

Thanks, that makes sense. If I do a search in IPhoto I find it. I have 6 grand children and also have had my camera for quite awhile and it starts file names over again after 10,000 pictures. (I don't have all these on the computer) but now I have some files with the same name ie img_4 and img_4

Lens Data- Why Can I Not Find It?

I use a Mac and ran the trial version of Aperture and liked it but it did not run very smoothly so I have purchased LR3. The features and utilities are about the same with one exception, Aperture automatically gives you lens name along with all the other EXIF photo data (aperture, zoom, etc...). Lightroom gives me aperture, zoom, ISO and shutter, just like Aperture but will not tell me the lens make and model. Am I missing something? I looked at that lens profiler program but didnt understand why I need it (and looking at the instructions with a checkerboard and other extra steps seemed unnecessary). If the camera records the lens along with the other pertinent information automatically (it must as Aperture picked it right up), why can I not find it?

I use a Pentax *ist DS and have a few different lenses. Some are older manual focus and a few are auto focus ones. The camera body reads the autofocus ones and whenever the photos were loaded up into Aperture, it gave the usual EXIF shot data as well as which lens was being used (whenever the autofocus ones were attached). Im hoping that LR3 can do the same thing without having to load up a separate plug in program in order to do it. I figured if the camera does it and Aperture picks it up, LR3 should too, right?

My test sytem include RT system based on PXI bus and Windows system installed in industrial PC.They are connected by LAN.
After I install the RT system and drivers, I can find all hardware of RT system through Remote system in MAX. But if I replace my hardware or controller in RT system.Always I can not find my hardware in MAX. So I must refresh in MAX continuously until I can find.

Is the problem that you cannot find the hardware in MAX at all or that it requires refreshing for it to appear?
When you change/replace the hardware in your RT PXI system, you have to refresh the view in MAX in order for it to detect the changes - this will not occur automatically. You can refresh all items in MAX (View > Refresh) or you can refresh each item individually when it is selected. Keep in mind it may take some time for the hardware to initialize before you can detect it in MAX.

Why can I not find Time Capsule as a wired hard drive?

TC airport turned off. Set up as using Ethernet cable from iMac directly to LAN port of TC. TC status light solid green. When I go to Time Machine to use TC as backup drive, the TC does not show up as available and I am not able to turn on Time Machine. I just want to use the TC as a wired hard drive for backup of my iMac - nothing else. What am I doing wrong. Any help appreciated.

I use the Uverse wireless router, but am not able to hook TC up to it by Ethernet.
Is it not possible physically, or are you saying that you had problems when you tried to connect it this way before? If the latter, my guess would be that the Time Capsule was not configured as a "bridge" on the network.
Please try the following setup, which I have verified by helping a neighbor last week who also has Uverse. I assume that your Uverse router has 3-4 ethernet ports on the back.
Connect an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN ports on the Time Capsule. Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Wireless Mode = Off
Click the Internet icon
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and now connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the Uverse router and the WAN (circle icon) port on the Time Capsule.
Restart both the Uverse and Time Capsule.
This should allow you to perform backups over the Uverse wireless network and also provide the option for you to plug an ethernet cable in from your computer to the Time Capsule if you want to use ethernet to back up.
You will need to open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock and then open Time Machine. Click Select Disk and your Time Capsule should appear as a destination for backups. Click Use for Backups.

I bought a retina 15", but it will not make a network connection to my 27" iMac 2 feet away. The wifi is working fine on both units, but prefer to use ethernet cable on 27". The question is, why can I not ewstablish a network connection between the 2? Air

my desktop iMac 27". The odd this is, the AirDrop works fine, so they can obviously see each other over wifi.
Sometimes, when I launch network on the 27, I will briefly see my retina notebook attempting to connect, but after a few seconds, the notebook icon disappears until I relaunch. Then we can go thru the same exercise, ad nauseum.
Any suggestions?

Because the retina 15 only has a wifi connection (no ethernet), that's the connection I'm stuck with for the notebook. But on the 27iMac, I did have both ethernet and wifi enabled. When I turned the wifi off on the 27, therer was a brief moment when both computers were showing their counterparts when I tried to make a network connection. BUT, after a few seconds of 'searching', the computer I was trying to connect to disappeared from the Network list.
So I tried the opposite; the retina can only connect thru wifi, so that's a given. I swithched my ethernet off and then enabed the wifi on the 27 and ....same thing: When I try a network connection, there are a few seconds of 'searching', then the ony option I'm left with is share screen, which doesn't work either.
I've read the 'dropped' network is a problem with the retina, but the odd thing is that I never lose my internet connection—that continues to work fine, as does Air Drop—but I can't seem to connect, network-wise.
Any ideas about the dropped network?

According to I tunes i synced 154 photos into my phone via itunes as directed but none will displayon my phone. Why can i not find my photos?

i followed the instructions for syncing photos to my computer from my iphone. I now want to sync photos from my computer back into my iphone. The pc i am using shows that i selected a folder. It contained 154 photos. The little screen said transfering.... then completed. after this the itunes show 154 photos in the phone but none show in the camera app. I looked in the general, settings and it also says 154 photos live in my phone but none are visible. Why?

Did you check the Photos app, in the Photo Library album?

          I have written an authenticator using the JAAS framework as described in the manuals
          for developing a security provider.
          Basically the user types in a username and a password.
          I come into the login module,
          store the username into a WLSUserImpl principal,then add the principal to the
          subject.
          Then i create a javax.resource.spi.PasswordCredential with a username and a password
          and pass this to the privateCredentialSet of the Subject.
          So far so good.
          Next , some time later , i access an ejb, which needs the service of a connector.
          Before i come into the connector , weblogic passes via my own credential mapper
          also written according to manual for developing security providers.
          Essentially i don't need the credential mapping , since i know this password already
          when i did the authentication(the password for authentication is the same as the
          password
          needed for the JCA connector).
          I come into the credential mapper and weblogic gives me a requestor and an initiator
          subject
          but none of them carry my private credentials which i stored into the subject
          when i was in
          the authentication module.
          In the credentialmapper i am supposed to create a PasswordCredential.
          For the sake of testing i create phony PasswordCredential with a phony user and
          phony password.
          Finallly i come into the connector
          which has a method createmanagedConnection and which passes a subject and a requestinfo
          and a managedconnection factory.
          The suject that i receive is a resource principal with a private credential carrying
          the phony user
          and password.
          Of couse i need the user and password entered during authentication,
          how do get them???
          Also i noticed when i configured my credential mapper,
          that weblogic calls the getCredentials method twice in succession,
          I don't understand why two calls is neccessary

I have bought several music from iTunes and now I cannot find them in my library. The same goes for music that I have ripped from my cds. What gives?! Why doesn't the music stay in the iTunes library like it does in Windows Media. There is music that I cannot get again and this is not acceptable.

Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. If you try connecting the iPod to a new iTunes library or PC, you won't be able to add any new content to it until you choose the Erase and Sync option that you are prompted with when you plug it in or restore the iPod if that option doesn't appear.
If you have content on your iPod that needs to be copied back over to your iPod, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to you can recover these contents and moved them back over to your iTunes library.

Why can iTunes NOT FIND songs on an EXTERNAL DRIVE

I've read many posts regarding the use of external drives for iTunes data storage. Here's my situation:
I've just restored my computer to it's factory settings, then installed iTunes 9.2.1.5 My iTunes consists of songs only and they reside on an external drive following this path: E:\iTunes Music\(artist)\(album)\(song[s])
iTunes Music, artist name, and album name are all folders. The songs appear in numeric order (01, 02, etc.), and are individual MPEG files.
I have tried changing the iTunes Media Folder location to: E:\iTunes Music (by following: Edit-Preferences-Advanced) Indeed, I have attempted all possible folder paths...right down to individual songs...nothing works. iTunes simply does not see the folder(s)/songs. What's up?
The frustrating thing is that this very same external drive worked just fine before this whole affair! ??? What am I missing? Please provide a detailed answer. Many of us out here would like to know the secret.

You'd have had more luck if you'd moved your library files out to your external drive as well as the media. That way, when you'd reinstalled all you would have needed to do was use SHIFT-start iTunes and point it at the library on the external.
Next time you reinstall Windows backup the entire *Documents and Settings* or Users folders from the C:\ drive so that after the rebuild you can restore anything you discover you still want from your old profile.
Better yet do these backups before something goes wrong, say once a month. The following tool is great for general backups of any specifc set of folders, not just iTunes.

You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes.

Why can I not find the primary video setting in Bios so I can change it from integrated to PCIE?

I have purchased a new video card to add to my computer which has integrated graphics. When I installed the card I got a blank screen so I removed the card and restarted the computer and entered BIOS in an attempt to change it from integrated to PCIE the problem is I cannot find the option to make the change. I can select advanced chipset but there is no primary video option to select and as far as I can tell there is no option to switch it from integrated to PCIE.... I researched this heavily and am now resorting to this as I cannot find a way to get the video card to work. I have posted the options I have in my system's Bios below. Why can I not find the Rubber Stamp icon in Fireworks 8

Using Fireworks 8:
ok - fairly new to all this - but I am trying to clone pixels and am looking for the rubber stamp icon. My "Bitmap" menu has marquee, lasso, magic wand, brush, pencil, eraser, burn & red eye icons on it, and under "Assets" (under Image Editing tab) in the other toolbar I have red eye, crop, scale, blur, sharpen, dodge and burn icons. No rubber stamp icon to be found. I am trying to edit a .jpg file (photo). I have read that it only works on bitmap files so I have saved it as a .bmp but still no luck finding the rubber stamp icon. Where am I going wrong please?!

Panic not... it has only taken me all afternoon but there must have been a error as I have just reloaded the app and holding the mouse button down now produces a menu of options on the bitmap menu, so the user can toggles from one to the other.
