Why can't a choose to create a Windows 7 install disk on my 2010 macbook air?

It is a 2010 macbook air, with lion 10.7.2 and bootcamp 4.0.1. the option to create a windows 7 install disk is greyed out, i have a trial version from microsoft website, but i also have a downloaded windows 7 both of them are .iso, i also have a 4gb usb in. could someone explain to me how to fix this?

You might follow this procedure...
http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20020513-285/install-win-7-on-macbook-air-fr om-a-usb-drive/
Note that to start the procedure, you will need a Windows computer to create the USB install stick.
I have an iMac with Windows 7 running via BootCamp, but I really don't like the BootCamp setup mainly because it's necessary to reboot the computer every time you switch from one OS to the other.
A few days ago I got a new MBA 128GB model which I decided to put Windows on via Parallels.  I have an old stand-alone DVD drive I plugged into the MacAir which immediately recognized the DVD drive.  I then installed Parallels on the MacAir.  When that was finished, it prompted me for a Windows installation disk, which I then put in the DVD drive.
Away it went with very little requests for inputs from me.  In a short time, I had Windows 7 up and running.  So far it looks like a great setup.  With a few other programs, the MacAir reports that it still has 88GB free out of the 128 GB SSD.

  • How to "Create a Windows 7 install disk" on Mountian Lion w/Bootcamp 5

It's basically the same way you create one with previous Bootcamp & OS verisons.
Finder -> Applications -> Utilities -> Select Bootcamp -> Show Package Contents
    Open "Info.plist"
Scroll until you see whats listed below.
    <key>PreUSBBootSupportedModels</key>
              <array>
                        <string>MacBook7,1</string>
                        <string>MacBookAir3,2</string>
                        <string>MacBookPro8,3</string>
                        <string>MacPro5,1</string>
                        <string>Macmini4,1</string>
                        <string>iMac12,2</string>
                        <string>iMac11,2</string>
              </array>
    Remove the "Pre" in "PreUSBBootSupportedModels"
Then it will ask if you want to make a copy of the file, click yes.
Now in the new "plist" file cut out "MacBook7,1" in the top line and replace with your Model Identifier (Can be found in "System Information" under "Hardware Overview")
    Save this file as "Info.plist"
After save the old "Info.plist" file as "Old.Info.plist" and move to the trash can (May as for log in info to do so)
Then after that file is in the trash move the NEW "Info.plist" (The one you edited) to the Bootcamp Content folder in place of the other one.
If everything is done right you should now be able to "select/disselect" the "Create a Windows 7 install disk" in bootcamp.
    You're welcome,
    Avery

I recently bought my Mac MIni 2010 Model, yes i know, 2010 Model?! But that's what i can afford for now since i already have an Apple Cinema display, an Apple Wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse.
When i tried opening the Boot camp assistant, since my Mac has an optical drive, only two options were shown and the "Create Windows USB install disk" option wasn't there at all.
So i searched the net for help and i found only one that answers my query (http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showtopic=51873), however, after following the tutorial, it didn't work and my Boot Camp assistant ended up crashing (quit unexpectedly). So i reverted the process and my Boot camp assistant went back, up and running but still no third option.
So disappointed, i went back to the "info.plist" that i was working on (using Xcode) and tried to mess around with the contents.
Then after over an hour of trial and error, i decided to just revert the changes that i did and quit. As i was clicking on the , and because i was a noob, i deleted by mistake the entire array of strings containing "Boot ROM Versions" that allows some mac models to boot windows using usb and when i click cmd+z, it just won't undo it.
So i guess, i was screwd! So nervous that i thought i killed the app, i closed the "info.plist" and checked if the Boot Camp assistant would still launch.
To my surprise, it actually opened! And to my astonishment, it even shows the third option! I guess, no one has ever did this, as we speak!
So you can call me an Accidental Hacker LOL! To all of you who understands fully the function of "info.plist" - any thoughts?

  • Boot camp not showing ''Create a Windows 7 install disk''

So i am trying install windows 7 64 bit version on my 2008 macbook pro and i dont know if this is the problem or not, it doesnt show ''Create a Windows 7 install disk''.
The other thing that i have not made clear is, when doing a windows 7 cd, do i need to burn ISO file on DVD or should i open it and burn all the files inside the iso image, to the disk?
Is there any specific ways or versions of Windows 7 for bootcamp or i can dowload any tipe of windows 7, put it on cd and use it as a bootable CD?
P.S.: I already had windows 7 ultimate 64 bit installed on the macbook. I installed it from my friends copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and i cant find that CD anymore, so when i tried to do a new copy of windows on CD and do the bootcamp it didnt recognize it, like there was no installation disk. That means i should make a bootable CD with windows 7 files on it or what?
    Thanks for help.

  • HT1373 Why can't I transfer all the songs from iPad into iTune on my new Macbook Air?

I've recently purchased the new Mackbook Air 2013 model , OSX MT 10.8.4 , iTunes 11.0.5
And here's my problem, I connected my iPad to iTunes and thought all the songs
would be transfered automatically to iTunes library, but appearantly only haf of them did with iCloud icons next to the song's name.
Another thing that I noticed is that all the songs in the library are the ones I purchased on iPhone quite a while ago (I share iTunes account on both devices)
but for those recently I purchased on iPad are just not there.
So I'd like to ask you guys how to figure out this problem.
    Many thanks.

It works, thank you so much

Why can't iMovie on iOS create portrait videos?
    Splice can create portrait videos!!!
    Martin

I don't know why, as we are all users here no one will really know why.
I assume it's because TVs only play wide video.
But if you really want to see it in future I suggest you tell Apple:

If enough peoploe ask they will change it.

  • Why can't I CHOOSE the channels I receive?

My parents pay far less for DISH and get more channels. The only reason I keep AT&T is because I need reliable internet. I'm frustrated with a lot of channels with NOTHING to watch. This is compounded by the fact that I get multiple Spanish language channels (not just local broadcast) and I don't speak Spanish and I get multiple sports channels and I don't watch sports--well I will watch the Olympics. I also don't watch cartoons and there's lots of those available to me. Most of my TV watching is local broadcast or PBS. I'd love to get BBC or WGN without paying extra. I would gladly drop all the Spanish, sports and cartoons to get some intelligent adult TV that's in a language I speak, that doesn't include men bashing each other's skulls and doesn't make me lose IQ points.  Why can't we choose the type of service we want instead of just getting one the choices we can afford from AT&T's cookie cutter products?

What you are describing is called "a la carte service" and has been debated for years if not decades. The main reason you can't pick and choose channels has to do with how the channels themselves make money.  For the most part, each one cuts a deal with each TV service (e.g. Xfinity, DirecTV, U-Verse, Dish, Time Warner Cable) where the service pays the channel a certain amount for each household capable of viewing it (usually less than 50 cents, but ESPN charges something like $5).  Note two important factors here: (a) it is the TV services that are paying the channels, and not the other way around; (b) it is based on how many people can view a channel, and not how many people actually do. With "packages," a lot of channels that very few people would watch are grouped together with the more popular channels, and the additional cost of carrying these channels is offset somewhat by the fact that the channels do not have to charge as much as they otherwise would because of the number of households that can watch the channel, most of which never will. If you changed this, and made everything a la carte, then most channels - including the popular ones - would have to charge more in order for you to view them.  Want BBC America?  $3/month, thank you very much.  That $5/month for ESPN?  More like $10.  Also remember that the service itself has to add to these costs so it can pay for providing the service (e.g. buying and sending out the cable boxes).

Topher Kessler's advice to "right click" on the attachment will give you various options, including the option to select the destination.
If you do not have a two button mouse, hold the control key down and click on the attachment.

  • Can I use a software of Adobe for creating CD covers having installed Adobe CS5 on my MacBook Pro?

Can I use a software of Adobe for creating CD covers having installed Adobe CS5 on my MacBook Pro?

If I go to a copy shop to print the covers (double-sided for a slim case of DVD) it would make sense to have two covers on one page in A4 and they should be on the right place so that the two backsides of the covers are at the back of the front of the covers printing the page in A4 double sided.
Is this possible to do that if I choose the right size of the covers and save the picture (in jpeg or better as pdf file)?

For large amounts of text Photoshop is not the best choice.
But you can certainly create Type Layers – select the Type Tool (T) and create Point Text by clicking onto the Canvas or Paragraph Text by click-dragging on the Canvas.

I was able to fix the problem with some help from Apple. Whenever I last downloaded Reader, I apparently didn’t complete the process by accepting the Reader contract. I was able to go right to that point in the process and complete the installation. The messages that I needed Reader but it was already installed were quite confusing. It would have been nice if the Adobe installation process that I was re-trying this morning had been able to detect a partial installation. The Troubleshooting page almost had me doing some ridiculous things that wouldn’t have helped.
