Why can't callers hear me?

WHen some people ring my phone they can't hear what I'm saying although I can hear them but then sometimes people ring me and my phone is fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.

  • Why can't callers hear me unless im on speaker phone?

I did the new i.os 8 upgrade and ever since, when callers call me they can't hear me unless i put them on speaker phone. What do I have to do so they can hear me without using speaker phone? Cuz i can't answer my calls in public since i have to put them on speaker phone.

    Hello there Anick,
It sounds like you are making calls or recieving them, and the other party cannot hear you unless you have speakerphone turned on. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you resolve this issue, named:
    iPhone: Microphone issues
Follow these steps, testing after each.
Make sure nothing is plugged in to the jack connector.
Make sure nothing is blocking any of the microphones (refer to the pictures below to find your device's microphones). Check for these:
    Dirt or debris
    A screen protector or case
When you're holding your phone next to your ear, make sure you don't block the microphone with your fingers or shoulder and make sure to speak into the microphone
Turn the iPhone off and then on.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
If necessary, find general iPhone hardware troubleshooting suggestions.
For further assistance, contact Apple Support.

  • Why can't callers hear me? Mute if off.  I can hear them.

I answer a call and say hello.  The caller cannot hear me, but I can hear them.  My mute button is off.  All settings have been reset to factory settings.
I restored my iphone4 yesterday.  The problem persists.

    Hello there, Katherine7153.
A great place to start with this issue is the following Knowledge Base article:

  • Why can't callers hear me? Does anyone else have this problem?

Ever since I got my iPhone 4S, people have had trouble hearing me on phone calls. I hear them just fine. Nothing I've tried (hand placement on the phone, new and no cover, etc) seems to correct the problem. My voice cuts out and suddenly they can't hear me for 5 seconds or so. Is this a known issue with

  • Why can't I hear the phone ring when I call somebody, but if I put the speaker on it works

Why can't I hear the phone ring when I call somebody, but if I put the speaker on I can hear the ringing?

Don't jump all the way to restoring just yet.  Check to make sure there's nothing in the headphone jack, and nothing covering the microphones (including the noise cancelling microphone at the top next to the headset jack)
    1. Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    2. Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    3. Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    4. Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • Why can't i hear all my downloaded songs?

Why can't i hear all my downloaded songs?

David is correct. The announcement was that all new music for sale would be non-DRM. There was no guarantee that everything would be upgradable.
Another possibility is that the iTunes Plus version is there, but the Store did not correctly match it with the old DRM tracks that you bought. If you see the new one in the Store, contact Customer Service.

  • Why can I not hear my iPad 2 "click"off when I close cover

Why can I not hear my iPad 2 "click"off when I close cover

Hi you are not going to believe this but under "ringer and alerts" I decided to increase the level of sound (was set half way) once I did that it was like it "released" it!!  The cover now clicks off even when I returned setting back to original place.
Thanks so much for your hep.

Try to set it up as new device without the latest backup, to rule out a software problem:

Why can't people hear me when I answer the phone?

I've been having the SAME problem.  I've made 2 trips to the "Genius" bar and they can't seem to find a fix.  It will work for a few minutes after I do a software restore and then *poof* suddenly stop working altogether.  Nobody can hear me although I hear them perfectly fine... and it doesn't matter where I am or if I'm on bluetooth, speaker phone, iPhone, etc.  I am frustrated along with you Kathiem.

your mic might not be working... exit the phone app and double click on the home button. this will bring up the multitasking apps. press and hold the apps and delete all of them with the red delete sign (does not remove the apps from the system). then shut down your iphone and turn it back on in a few seconds. after this, make sure mute is off (it will light up blue if its on) and try calling someone. this should solve the problem
