Why can't I access iCloud via IE or Firefox, but can via Safari?

I've posed the question, but don't know what to do next or whether I'll be able to remember how I got here to get back.  Thanks Apple for making Help so frustrating - running around in circles and getting no where.
btw, have been all over Apple with email/phone calls and appt at an Apple Store -- no help.
In the meantime, anyone have any input to my question?
Thanks!

Apple is shooting its self in the foot again similure to the 80's pullout of small operating business sales. ICloud is a mistake. it is a one piston 8 cylinder engine. I cannot access my email from my company computer and will not be able to access it on my company phone. Fix this debacle. Does Apple intend to become more propriatory since Steve is gone? BIG MISTAKE!!! I now know 23 people that have given up their Iphones because of this. Since there has been no replies or strands developed over this input since February, I take it that Apple is Not Concerned and every one will follow the pack.
Maybe, maybe not.
As you have given no information at all in your post it is not possible to respond in any sensible fashion to your problem, if you are looking for help please give some description of the issue, or if you're here merely to rant, carry on.

  • Can no longer access Facebook via Safari on iPhone

Ever since I loaded IOS 6 onto my iPhone 4, I cannot get to Facebook via Safari...it automatically reverts to the fb app. Even if I put www.facebook.com into the browser. I still access fb via Safari on my ipad (new ipad). This is important as I have low vision and the font is too small on the app.

I have the problem after upgrading my iPad to iOS 6.
It started with the app store, then facebook app and finally can't access to any apple.com page.
Already restore the iPad and now I can access to app store. Still working to get back my access to facebook.
If anyone has an idea about this?

On the iPad tap Settings > iCloud
Toggle Documents & Data off then back on then restart your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
On the iMac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Documents & Data then reselect it then restart your iMac.

  • Problem accessing mail via Safari browser

How do I access iCloud Mail via my Safari browser on my iPhone? If I go to iCloud.com it just offers me the option to install it on my phone.
The problem is, I already have it installed on my phone and it works fine EXCEPT at my new job - the wifi is not very good and I can access internet/Facebook etc but every time I try and load email it always says it 'cannot find the server .' I therefore tried to access email via safari browser - my other email provider works fine that waybut iCloud doesn't even give me the option to login, just keeps suggesting I install it.
Any ideas how I can check iCloud email at work? Can't do it on work computers, site is blocked....and there is no 3G/4G signal.
    Thanks for any advice!

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2618 you should be able to access it via a browser by going to https://www.icloud.com/#mail

  • Attaching file to email by accessing email via safari

it seems that there is no button in the email (yahoo. gmail etc) interface page for attaching files to the email to be sent via safari. i.e. cannot attach file if u access mailbox via safari. is that normal? hear that you need to tap the pre installed "MAIL' app on the ipad, set-up the email mail box, and accessing mailbox via the "MAIL" app, then attaching file is possible. why is it so?

In order to attach a file in an email - the app it self must support it. For instance, you can email a Photo in the Photos app by selecting the photo that you want to email and then tap the curved arrow icon in the upper right corner and select the email option.
Apple's Pages for the iPad allows you to email files as well - but you have to do it from the Pages App itself. Other apps also support the feature but as Meg explained, you can't attach a file in web mail - at least I haven't seen how to do it.

  • Why Can't Safari do what Internet Explorer does in Windows

Why can't Safari developers fix Safari and the mac os to run Sirius Satellite stream the way in which Internet Explorer runs it. I had to download Firefox and run Sirius from it because Safari and Snow Leopard won't run Sirius. If Apple wants to be the operating system of choice then it has to offer what IE offers with Windows.

    Hello Arthur:
Is there a question there, or are you just pontificating? Anyone who suggests that IE is superior to Safari should migrate back to the "PC" world.
The problem you pose is a Sirius problem, not a Safari issue.

  • Why can I surf on Firefox, but not on Safari?

    Hi,
I'm running an iBook G4 with 10.4.8 on it. My DSL internet connection is through an apartment server, requiring its own manual network configuration to work. That is the easy part...it took a week to figure out the proxies (the local staff and their command of english is Ok but not that good) and I got Firefox up and running. It has been working great for a month.
But one thing is puzzling me, why can't Safari see that I have a functioning DSL internet connection? I am using the same manual configuration for the connection and I have made sure that every program that needs this connection can see it. This problem is, in fact, bigger than just Safari. None of my Apple programs (including Network Diagnostics), Yahoo Messenger or Google Earth can see my working internet connection. I'm perplexed! Any ideas?

    Hi, CatherineTW.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your Bluetooth device is connected during playback of these videos.  Try changing the audio source to iPhone or disconnect the Bluetooth device when playing videos.

you can learn a VERY valuable lesson from this question... NEVER publish your email address in public forums of any kind - FaceBook, Google+, chats, etc. - these places are low hanging fruit for nefarious characters - ÇÇÇ

  • Why can't Safari connect to free wifi when other browsers can?

When  trying to use free WIFI in hotels, the connection requires opening browser  and then the hotel log in screen pops up for me to log in (room number or sometimes just to say "agree")
    Safari does not work!
I set my network connection to Automatic
The WIFI address I want shows up so I  can select and the button turns green, next to "Wifi" in Network Preference
But when I then launch Safari, nothing  ... I cannot log into the hotel's network
Yet if i launch Chrome or FireFox, immediately the hotel's window pops up  and then I am fully on the Internet (and can use Safari
I have no firewall or such , so why can't Safari do what other browsers can?

  • Why can't Safari be like the others?

Why oh why can't Safari be like Firefox who allows you to organize or view your bookmarks by name or jazz up your toolbar? These are such little things in the grand scheme of browser design. Don't they know that Mac users are colorful and creative and would really really really like a little help getting organized? Why should I be forced to use another browser simply because I want these simple features? Come on Apple, meet the competition - I'm feeling punished for my loyalty!

    Hi Again Emlanie.
I'm suspecting that maybe you were hoping for that really cool import bookmarks feature that FF has. I Iike that myself. 'POOF' it's done! But I don't like it enough to use FF as my main browser. Mulder was right... it really depends on what you want out of it. And as I told you before, I like it clean and simple.
BUT, if you want bookmarks in Safari, it's really no big deal. Trust me, I set these up my first week of ever using any computer... so I'm pretty sure you can do it.
My suggestion for setting up Bookmarks would be:
1.) Decide how you want to categorize your bookmark 'headers' in the bookmarks bar. I do mine by subject: Restaurants, Tickets, Banking and so on. This makes it easier when you add a bookmark, and is more conducive to looking for one later, if you have alot of them as I do.
2.) Go to Bookmarks in the Safari menu bar and click on 'Show All Bookmarks'. Proceed to make the folders you'll need with your header titles on them by using the '+ add folder' button at the bottom of the left hand column. Make them all.
3.) Once your done, proceed to drag each folder to the column on the right, starting at the top, and in the order you want them on your Bookmarks Bar. The top will show as the left side of your BM bar and so on to the right. I do mine alphabetically. You may choose to do it by favorites or most frequently visited, whatever. As you drag each folder to the right column in the order you want, it is automatically placed on your BM bar. Now all you have to do is add bookmarks.
I've checked FF and there is no export feature to Safari (only import, nice trick :o) So, you can add your bookmarks by just visiting your sites and then 'add bookmark' then all you have to do is choose which (already waiting) folder to place it in. Really easy. And I've got loads of bookmarks!
So.... if you decide you want to try Safari for a bit and see if you like it, I hope this helps a little.
    Good Luck and Have Fun!
    MWN :o)

  • HP 8500 printer will not print fast on firefox, but does on Safari. HP support says it is a problem with firefox. Can you help me out?

    Question
HP 8500 printer will not print fast on firefox, but does on Safari. HP support says it is a problem with firefox. Can you help me out? edit

Thank you for posting your list of installed Extensions. One of them might be intercepting the menu command. Since you have the Add-on Compatibility Reporter, it's possible that an older add-on that doesn't actually work well with Firefox 5 could be to blame. Could you try disabling the "HP Smart Web Printing" extension and see whether that makes any difference?
Also, you can simulate a print button on a web site by pasting this to the location bar and pressing Enter. You also can save it as a bookmark for easier access (when scripts are saved as bookmarks, we call them bookmarklets). Hopefully you won't need it for long.

  • I can not access to iCloud via safari

Working in the iPad of my wife and my iPad, In safari on the iCloude page appears: configure iCloude on this device, (already did).....instead of the page to access to iCloud.  Thank you!!!

Apple may have designed it that way but they missed a HUGE part of this. I have a work iPad (employer owned) that I would like to be able to access my personal iCloud account on. I understand that I can set up my personal account and my work icloud account on the iPad, but I do not want to give my employer access to everything in my personal account. I obviously do not mind if they read emails or other personal stuff I access via their iPad, I just do not want to give them full access to my entire account. All I want to do is be able to check email occasionally (which is permitted by my employer). Apple needs to allow access to iCloud via a browser on the iPad and iPhone. There are obviously other reasons for this - ie. do not have your iOS device with you and need to check email from someone elses fro whatever reason and there is not a computer handy. What is the value of blocking iOS access to iCloud via a browser? For the life of me I cannot see the value to wanyone - including Apple for doing this.

  • Access iCloud via Chrome for Android

So I went to www.icloud.com on my android smart phone and low and behold it wouldn't let me in stating my browser is not supported?  Is there a work around for this or do I have to wait till I get back to my iMac?

As far as I know, iCloud.com can only be accessed on Windows and Mac computers, but not on mobile devices like you Android phone.
