Why can't I access my icloud email on Chrome?

Why can't I access my iCloud email on Chrome? I can open it, read one email and then it freezes > both on my mac and on my pc! After an upgrade I can't access "mail" either, which is why I resorted to iCloud on chrome.

On your iPhone iCloud is accessed automatically when you use the iPhone, I.e., contacts syncing, calendars syncing iCloud documents accessed, backups made, etc.
To enable iCloud functionality go to Settings > iCloud.

You can use iCloud as your primary email, just keep the other as a backup.

Why won't Apple allow us to use their own @icloud.com domain for an Apple ID. This has upset me since the inception of MobileMe; it makes perfect sense that many people would prefer to use their iCloud email address as there Apple ID. We've all had MobileMe since day one, which is now iCloud; it's been several years, and I still can't do it. Having to frequently log in with an individual Apple ID & Individual iCloud account creates so much confusion, especially with my wife and parents.
I know this is an age old complaint, but it doesn't make it any less relevant. Is there a special way to change my existing Apple ID to my existing iCloud email address? If not, then why won't Apple allow it?

This is exactly what I want to do but don't think I can:
I noticed the following :
If you attempt to create an Apple ID which is the same as your @icloud email address from the online facility, it does not allow you (can't use an Apple associated email address as your Apple ID). However - if you start a fresh device - such as a new iPhone, iPad (must be mobile it seems), and then create an iCloud account and Apple ID from the prompts when setting up the mobile device, it IS possible to have your Apple ID and @iCloud email address as the same. I know because I just did it!
Unfortunately for me, the result I got above is not for one of my own ID's but a friends, and I would VERY much like to do the same - my current Apple ID is a completely different email address from my iCloud account. Trying to get them the same in my situation is a major bother - I think that if I wipe a device (such as an iPhone5 that is mine) and try to setup as I did my friend's device, then I will get a conflict because the iCloud email I have ALREADY exists. This is my worry and I will not attempt this until I get the new iPad 4 soon to test this.
There is an inconsistency here between the two methods of creating Apple ID's and iCloud accounts.
Overall in my opinion, the Apple ID system as currently available from Apple is not designed very well, and should be addressed.

You can if you create an new Apple ID at the time you create the iCloud account, and choose to create a new @icloud.com email address as your primary email address when creating the ID. You could not use your existing @icloud.com email address as it is already an alias for your existing iCloud ID; you would have to create a new one.

I would like to be able to use my iCloud albums to organize my photos but if I cannot access them from apps it seems pointless. I will end up having to maintain both an iCloud library and a separate iPhoto library which is more work that seems necessary. I want everything easy to organize and access. It seems like in this age where most people are more likely to use their mobile devices than their Macs (and some do not even own Macs) that there should be a mobile solution. Hopefully I am simply without a clue and you folks can help me out with a fix or a source of info as a solution. I have not found answers yet.

Why can't I use my iCloud email as my Apple ID's primary email?

I want to use my iCloud email as my primary email address so that I can recieve purchase receipts on this email without having to repurchase all my apps and have to juggle two IDs. Apple seems to not want to let me do this. Is there anything I can do? Setting my iCloud as a secondary email doesn't help.

Why can't I get my icloud email on my computer?

I cannot get my icloud email on my iMac intel computer - I always get a message to go to "preferences" and see if there is a yellow something there and if so, uncheck the box and then recheck - well this does not work. The yellow thingy goes away, but comes right back again. Help

I am totally bewildered! I have taken the plunge to leave Gmail, my primary email address and move to iCloud. The first thing I tried to do, was change my Apple ID email address. To my astonishment, while it allows gmail.com, it does not allow its own icloud.com. This means that I either, have to keep on with gmail as my primary address or create another one eg sky.com. What is going on? I simply want to migrate from gmail to icloud and Apple trip me up at the first fence. Any idea, what I can do? Why won't Apple, accept it's own email address?

When you start from scratch you can create an @icloud.com address and use it as your ID, but though it seems illogical you can't do what you ask. I don't know whether this is a technical issue.
However, I would suggest that having your published email address as your login is poor security. This used to be the case with MobileMe and there were quite a number of complaints from people who had found themselves locked out of their account because some idiot had tried to sign into their account several times without knowing the password. They then had to change the password in the ID and all their devices, and a couple of weeks later it would happen again.
This sort of nonsense sometimes arose through mis-typing, and sometimes because some idiot would become convinced that he owned the address and would keep trying to log in with it.
Of course, someone who knew your email address and felt malicious could render your account useless by keeping on doing this. I know all this sounds a bit extreme, and it is moderately unlikely, but these things do happen.
For best security, I would suggest creating a new free address somewhere with a garbage username which can't be guessed and is unlikely to be arrived at by accident. I know it's less convenient that logging in with your @icloud.com address, but you might like to think about the security issue here.

Because you are working with a photo management database in iPhoto which gives you a great deal more flexibility and power compared to a folder based organization like you had on your PC. You do need to learn how to use it- there is a learning curve.
Do I first need to store my photos in Pictures and then make copies of them in iPhoto?

Why can't I access my iCloud-stored Pages document on my iPhone (Pages iOS)?

I have the latest iOS my 2 phones. I have the current Pages iOS app on each phone. I have several Pages documents on my iPhones (created there, locally). I have my iPhone(s) set up for iCloud access and I have Settings on the phones set for iCloud access to Documents & Data. The phones are connected to the net.
I have (successfully) done a "Save As" of a document from Pages on my Mac to the iCloud. I have confirmed the Save As worked by logging into my iCloud account (via Safari) and viewing the document in Pages (iWork). I even did some edits there in Safari and created a new version of the Pages document there, so now I have 2 Pages documents in my iCloud account.
However.... when I launch Pages on either of my phones I do not find a way to open (or import) either of those documents from my iPhone.
What am I missing? Thanks!

Thanks. Yes, the Documents & Data is on. But your second suggestion was spot-on. I got a reply to my re-posted question in another forum area and that pointed me to the Pages setting in the Settings app. It had been switched off. Switching it to "on" has the iCloud-stored documents now appearing in Pages on the phones.
