Why can't I access my mail

Whenever I go to the mail app at the top it says welcome and below are a list of email websites none of which I have and it won't let me just access my mail please help I have important thing being sent to me via email

Is your account listed on the right-hand side of Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and if it is and you tap on the account to select it then is Mail 'on' for it ? If not then turn it 'on' and it should then show in the Mail app. If the account doesn't show on that screen then tap the 'Add Account' button to add it
If it's already 'on' but not showing in the Mail app then try closing the Mail app via the taskbar and see if it shows when you re-open the Mail app : double-click the home button to open the multitasking bar and then swipe or drag the Mail app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
If that doesn't get it to show then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Try maintenance...
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
    If Safari unexpectedly quits, it could be a 3rd party plugins causing the problem. Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins. Move any 3rd party plugins to the Trash and restart your Mac.
    And make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
    Try Open DNS - Free / Basic
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/ Move the Cache.db file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
    For Firefox:
    1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History... .
    2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
    3. Click the down arrow next to "Details" to choose what history elements to clear. Click Clear Now.
    Repair disk permissions...
    Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Why can't thunderbird access my mail anymore after traveling to a different country?

    Hello everyone,
    I started having problems with Thunderbird after moving from Germany to Lebanon. First I thought it was because I changed my time zone on the computer but now I think it is more related to my yahoo account. First Thunderbird started to download one message multiple times (basically every time it went to retrieve email from all of my web accounts, but it didn't happen all the time and only to my yahoo account). Then it stopped to connect altogether giving me the report "maildrop busy". I tried opening it from time to time but it would only sometimes and apparently randomly download all the messages including yahoo but also sometimes giving me nothing or just one mail a dozen times.
    Now I moved to Kyrgyztan via Turkey and since I'm only able to use yahoo through the browser I got asked to identify myself through an alternative email (web.de) which doesn't exist anymore so now my yahoo is also completely blocked in the browser. So I thought maybe Thunderbird initially couldn't download my yahoo mail because it probably asked to identify myself when I moved to Lebanon in the first place. But then why would it have been able to get the mail at some times anyway and why could I log in online without getting asked the question? Does Thunderbird identify itself automatically even when you change locations?
    So I am of course in big trouble because yahoo is my main email account. The fact that I deleted my older alternative mail account is of course my own loss but can anyone say if there is a way to fix Thunderbird so maybe I would then be able to access yahoo through Thunderbird again?
    (Another problem is, that yahoo offers no way to contact them directly, I did all the help and customer support sites, they are useless, and there is no phone number or mail contact...)

    you could try turning off email scanning in your anti virus as that is the most common cause of intermittent can't connect and repeated download of the same mail. Other than that it is up to you and yahoo.

    When I try to use the "Mail" function on my iPod Touch, I get this message: The connection to the server "imap.aol.com" failed. I get this message everytime regardless of what signal strength I have.
    Is this an AOL problem or something else? Setting up the iPod to read mail is easy; all you have to do (at least for AOL) is provide your username and password (unless there is something else I missed).

    Here is my AOL mail problem (POP vs IMAP?) that I think can be fixed but I couldn't find in this forum:
    I usually read, answer, file my AOL mail on my main computer or my laptop. I occasionally check my my AOL mail using my Treo or iPod Touch. On my Treo, new messages are downloaded but when I check my computer, they remain as "new mail." However, when I check using my iPod Touch, I receive the new messages as expected, but when I check AOL on my computer any new messages can only be found in the "old mail" folder. How can I change this so new messages read by my iPod Touch remain as "new" on AOL?

    Was getting ICloud mail then it stopped.   Icons next to ICloud on my mac mail say it's a netweork error.   I tried deleting the iCloud account several times and reentering it but it always leaves out the info that goes into the "incoming server" box and there is no way to manually enter it as the box is grayed out.   

    Sign out of iCloud (system preference>iCloud) reboot and sign back in.

    This is the second time in three months this has occurred. Bell Aliant suggested I contact Apple directly as the only option is to remove my e-mail account and reconfigure it. This will mean losing all my files. These files are very important as my account is a business account.
    Bell Aliant thought perhaps it is an Apple problem and that Apple may better be able to remedy the situation without me losing my e-mail files.

    Did they explain how the app managed to delete all of your mail and then not even let you have access ?
    If that was the case the app should still be able to access the empty folders.
    I know there is often blame and counter blame in these situations but there are limits.

    There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    (Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
    You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
    If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
    If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
    For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
    Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
    For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
    b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

    You can try deleting the email account and then readding it.  OR do a reset, hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

    Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
    I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.
    APPLE. What are you doing?
