Why can't I access old PC programs anymore with Lion?

Question

Just updated my Macbook pro to Lion.  I had previously used Quicken to keep track of business.  When I click on quicken now, it says Power PC formats no longer supported.  Any way to recover that data or get Quicken to run with Lion?  Time Machine?

Finally, a suggestion, not just in this thread but elsewhere: why make every point/objection a personal contest. We're all trying to help people with problems, and we're all doing it voluntarily. I fail to see why we can't have a difference of opinion but remain cordial, and still helpful. We're not the only ones reading these thread, and they shouldn't be our own private battlegrounds (yes, I will own to being as guilty of that as others at times, but it'd be far more pleasant and useful if we could cut the needless misinterpratations and snarky tones).
