Why can't I add artwork for wav files

I have a few music in my iTunes that are in WAV audio format, in the get info I am not able to add missing artwork like I can do all the others audio format and yes I have tried the get album artwork from iTunes but it says could not be found.  What is this?

Perhaps if you asked in the iTunes for Windows forum rather than here in the iPad in the Enterprise forum, someone might have suggestions.
Regards.

  • Can't add artwork for WAV file?

It's true. I tried. Is that supposed to happen? Why can't I put artwork on a WAV file in iTunes?

i think and am pretty sure that the album art is saved into the tracks data tags. There is a difference between the data tag on a file and the iTunes database infomation. Things like artist, album, genre go into the tracks data tag. Things like ratings and playcount go into the database file (see ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Database). If the artwork were stored in iTunes then it would global and across all formats and would not be retained if music is moved around. I think that album art is preserved if a track is moved and as you've pointed out album art can't be added to some formats such as WAV so i'm guessing that album art is a codec limitation. WAV is pretty old a raw uncompressed format that is much larger than mp3 or aac. You would need to convert the audio to one of these formats to add album art. To do this set your import options to one of these codecs under the importing tab in the advanced pane of the iTunes preferences. Then with the WAVs selected in iTunes go to the Advanced Menu in the main menu bar and click on 'Convert Selection to <Codec you chose>'
    Hope that helps

  • Why can't one add artwork to music saved as a wave file

i can add scanned artwork to an entry in itunes only if it is saved as an AAC or MP3 file but when i try and save scanned artwork to a wave file, it doesn't afford me that choice.....any reason that would be?

It's the way WAV file formats were designed years ago by Microsoft. It's not just itunes that can't add artwork to the actual file; no jukebox player software can add artwork tags to WAV files.
If you want artwork to display in itunes for WAV files, you can get the artwork from the itunes store if
    1) you have an itunes store account
    2) that album is sold is your country's itunes store
itunes will store the artwork in some special folders outside of the WAV files, and use the itunes database file (ITL file extension) to find them as needed.
For albums not in the itunes store, you have to do something like this

  • Artwork for WAV files?

Does anyone know how to import album artwork into iTunes for a WAV file.  Nothing happens after bringing in the artwork.  Can it be done?

    @Dj_AmTraX: good tip!
I tried to first load my music as apple lossless and added the artwork (via get info, artwork, add) then loaded all the music a second time additionally in the WAV file format. The album artwork then appeared in iTunes for all the WAV files too. So one could say yes, it can be done but apparently on iTunes only with a bit of extra work and the restriction of needing to have the music stored in two different formats.
It is a pity that Apple's iTunes doesn't support linking WAV files to artwork jpgs as standard.
The more mp3-like the product the less likely they seem inclined to offer good functionality for the (hi-fi, bulkier) WAV format. Now storage is so less expensive they should maybe re-think? I find high-resolution audio files so much better on a good hi-fi system ;-)
@any_WAV_enthusiast: Who has found the method above to work for them?
Maybe someone now knows a quicker or easier method to get artwork shown for WAV files in iTunes / on i-devices?

  • Why can't use thunderbolt drive for Cloud files folder?

why can't I use thunderbolt drive for Cloud files folder?  It's too big for my limited laptop storage.
    Thanks

Because sync requires to use persistent storage locations. This is out of Adobe's control. It is entirely up to the hardware vendor how he anchors the drive/ volume and integrates it into the file and folder structure.

  • Why can't I add metadata to my files?

I have uploaded my pictures to an external hard drive then opened the files in bridge to add metadata.  When I try, it says, "file cannot be modified".  Any ideas on why this happens or how fix it?

Any ideas on why this happens or how fix it?
At first glance you don't seem to have the correct write permissions to your External Disk. Check the disk and folders and also check if the files are not locked (those will show with a lock icon in Bridge)
You have to have admin privileges (read and write) to make changes to the files.

  • Adding artwork to .wav files

Why can you not add artwork to .wav files?
I am a DJ, and create mix cd's. I have iTunes 7. I wanted to use iTunes to burn the CD's, and I thought it would be nice for my listeners to have a copy of my album artwork for each particular CD. Is there not a way to at least add a file to a cd that you are burning from a playlist? It doesn't even give you the option. It just starts burning the CD. I guess I could just do it manually through windows, and add the jpeg file, but it says there is not enough space on my blank disc. Why would the files be larger? It says I have to get rid of 25 MB os stuff from the disc. The picture file is only 3 MB. Plus, this is a CD that I've been burning for over a year. No problems before. Why won't iTunes work with it? Am I missing something?
Also, some of my track names are long. I list the original artist - track name - and sometimes who did the particular remix. Maybe I'm missing something here, but why is it that when I import a song to iTunes, part of the file name is cut off? Windows has been pestering me with this for so long. Anytime I move a file, or copy the music file contents of a folder, the names get cut short, and I have to sit, and rename each of them. It makes me sick! Now, iTunes is doing it.
I imported the Songs into iTunes. I burned a CD. I ejected the CD, and re-inserted it. It pops up in iTunes with all of the track information that I put into it. However, if I click on the drive in windows, there are no track names.
    what gives?

    figment222,
A couple of things. .wav files are uncompressed audio files with no support for "tagging" information to them. When you insert an audio CD in a Windows-based PC they appear as .wav files to allow you to drag and drop them as a way of importing them as uncompressed audio. On a Mac they will appear as AIFF.
The artwork is stored in a "tag" in an MP3 or AAC file. This article has more information:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93672
When you enter information for an Audio CD, iTunes can not write that information to the CD, but will remember that information on your computer. This article gives more information:

  • Why can't i add album artwork to most of my music?

seems like itunes will only let me add album art of mp3's, not my main music library. am i doing something wrong?

    It's mostly wav files.
why does it not let us add album artwork to wav files? i like keeping my library as wav files instead of compressing my music.

  • Album artwork feature for .wav files inexplicably removed from iTunes.

Hello, I was wondering if Apple would please allow us to display artwork in iTunes for albums that contain .wav files.  Waves just sound better to me. I remember back in 2004 or so this feature was available in iTunes, nearly a decade ago, but now it has been inexplicably removed.  I am not interested in compromising the sound quality of the .wav file by converting them to compressed formats, Apple lossless, or even Apple's rival to the .wav file. Thank you.

I don't think .wav format has ever supported artwork.  It is possible (I don't have any wav format files) I guess  if it is added to iTunes that iTunes can add artwork for it in its own database, but wav does not support tags or artwork embedding.

  • Musician Wanting To Add Artwork For CD

I'm a musician who has just released a new CD. Where can I submit my album artwork so that people who buy my CD will see it when they import it into itunes.

    That makes sense .
I could be mistaken but I thought that Apple used an
external entity to retrieve artwork and I was hoping
    to submit to them directly.
I do plan to submit my CD to Apple in the near future
but I thought that this might be a quick option in
    the mean time.
Apple uses an external provider called Gracenote (as in Gracenote CDDB) to obtain track/album/artist information when you insert an Audio CD. However Gracenote do not provide Album Artwork.
Apple therefore use their own iTunes store as the source of Album Artwork pictures for iTunes. Currently there are about 4 million tracks on the iTunes store with the notable exception of the Beatles. (A friend recently wanted to know why iTunes would not automatically add artwork for his Beatles CDs, it is of course because they are not [yet] on the iTunes store.)
The majority of Album Artwork on the iTunes store is 600x600 pixels, this compares with Microsoft's WMP and their equivalent source of Album Artwork which (even ignoring the incredible number of inaccuracies in their database) is a rather pathetic 200x200 pixels. Amazon and Walmart internet stores use 500x500 pixels.
Finally, yes, in order for your artwork for your CD to work in iTunes using this "Get Album Artwork" facility, your CD or tracks have to be on sale on the iTunes store. Part of the process of submitting your music to the iTunes store for sale will include providing artwork to Apple for inclusion.

  • Why can't I add text in the signature panel in firefox?

why can't I add text in the signature panel in firefox?  I have adobe acrobat pro XI.  I can open a pdf in acrobat pro and am able to add text to a pdf, but when I open a pdf in firefox, the "add text" option is not available.

When you install Acrobat XI you are also installing Reader for use in the browser. Reader is "sandboxed", or as it says in the Preferences, it is in "Protected Mode". Acrobat does not understand the concept of running in sandboxed memory (sandbox is a security feature to prevent the bad guy from exploiting a memory error and getting into a memory address where they can do damage to your computer) so to help protect Acrobat users the same way Reader users are protected we just install Reader along with Acrobat, but it is only used in the browser (part of this is because the bad guys use web sites as their primary method of distributing corrupted PDF files that can cause problems).
That said, because you are in Reader the file needs to be Reader Enabled prior to being posted to the web site (or opened in the browser). Once the file is Reader Enabled you should be able to add the text annotations.

  • Why can't I add HD videos to my iPod touch?

So I recently bought an iPod touch, and I haven't had trouble with it until now. I downloaded a free TV show extra thing and it's in HD & SD, and it downloaded fine and everything. But when I tried to add it to my iPod, a popup comes up with the message: "Blah blah blah" was not copied to the iPod "Michaela's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod.
Why? I tried to do the "Advanced Settings" and convert it, but the convert option is grayed out and I can't choose it. I thought the iPod touch could play HD (and I do have another HD video on it currently), so why can't I add this new HD/SD video to my iPod? And I know there's enough space because I have 24.6 GB free space.

It's the screen format see below.
The iPad and iPhone 4 can play High Definition (HD) content and Standard Definition (SD) content. iPods and the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS can play Standard Definition (SD) content. To find what video formats are supported, see the Tech Specs page, click your device's product family, and then your specific model. All HD purchases from the iTunes Store also include an iPod/iPhone-compatible Standard Definition version to accompany the HD version. When syncing an HD purchase from the iTunes Store, iTunes will automatically sync the SD video for devices that require SD content.

  • Why can't I add narration now ?

I have added narration in the past on previous versions of Premiere elements and on Pre 10 but in the last 2 weeks I get an error when I click on the red record button I get a error message that my audio hardware selection does not have any input channels and I should go to Preferences, Audio Hardware to correct this.
I go to Preferences Audio hardware and and it shows Premiere elements WDM Sound and next box has ASIO setting. I click on these and I see no other possibilities or choices.
I still have Pre 8  loaded and the narration will not work now on it with the same error.
What could cause this after narration has always worked in the past?

Welcome to the forum. What is the make/model of your mic.? What is the connection type? What is the make/model of your sound card/chip? Do you have the latest driver for that sound card/chip installed? In a program, like Windows Recorder, does the mic. work fine? In Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager, does your mic. show up with no errors, or warnings? What is the ASIO setting now? Good luck, and please let us know a bit more. Hunt

  • Why can't I add bookmarks to Firefox 3.6.6? Nothing happens when I click "Bookmark This Page".

Why can't I add bookmarks to Firefox 3.6.6? Nothing happens when I click "Bookmark This Page".

Just for the record, I was having this problem with older versons of Firefox also. It just happened recently and, with the help of this forum (thanks cor-el) suggesting to open Firefox in safe mode and checking add ons, I found the problem. It was the recent update of Mcafee Site Advisor. If you have Mcafee Site Advisor as an add on, disable it and see if that helps. It worked for me.
    To disable this add on,
    Go to:
Tools/Add ons/Extensions and click: "disable" for this add on and restart Firefox. Hope it works for you too.
P.S. To uninstall Site Advisor altogether, you must do that through Windows Add/Remove Programs.

Why can't I add a location to a photo in the new Photos app?  Apple appears to have taken away a feature without asking.

I have an iPhone and occasionally use it for photos, but my main camera is NOT an iPhone.  To be forced to go outside Apple for a product when Apple had perfectly good products available is ludicrous.  But it is what it is, apparently.
