Why can't I buy a movie that I pre-ordered, with the iTunes card already redeemed?

See, I bought an iTunes card the other day and redeemed it that same day. After doing so, I pre-ordered a movie that was expected to be released on the 18th of March(today). So I tried to purchase the movie I pre-ordered with the credit I redeemed from the iTunes card, but it is asking for my billing information. So I clicked on the link where it says "To redeem code, click here", and it asked me to enter a code. My concern is why can't I buy that movie I pre-ordered with I the money I have in my iTunes account?

You didn't purchase the movie, you pre-ordered it. So the code works to put in the pre-order for the movie. So it's on hold, so to speak. Then when the movie comes out (and only then) are you actually billed, so you have to enter the code again in case you or someone else who has access to your computer used some -- perhaps too much of the credit in the meantime.
If I use a regular credit card and pre-order something, oftentimes there is some kind of perk or extra included along with it for me in return for pre-ordering. Like an extra feature for example. I don't actually get billed until I actually get the movie and so it's kinda like that.
Did you lose the code?
If you did, I'm sorry, but you could call Apple & hopefully they will make things right.

I pre ordered a book an now that it is out I can't get it it's saying that I have to buy the book all over again

    Hey there Christian1529,
It sounds like you are unable to download a book that you pre ordered. This info should help you get that downloaded from the folllowing article:
    Download a pre-ordered item
When a pre-ordered item becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know that you can download your pre-order.
If you enabled the option to automatically download prepurchased content in iTunes, then your pre-ordered content may already be in your library. If not, click the download link provided in your email notification, and your pre-ordered content will begin to download. You can also use the Check for Available Downloads feature in iTunes on your computer (choose Store > Check for Available Downloads) to begin downloading your pre-order.

If you are still unable to download it, I would reach out to our iTunes Store support team directly with the following article:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1933
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.
Click Submit to have your issue reviewed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Why can't I buy HD movies?

Why can't I buy HD movies the same way I can buy HD TV shows?
Apple has now made it easy to buy HD TV shows (and with 2.2, via the Apple TV). You get an HD version for playback on your computer or Apple TV and an SD version for playback on your iPod. Why can't we do this for movies? After all, the HD versions are available to rent!
I am hesitant to buy movies from Apple as a result, because I would get better results buying the Blu-ray version. If I could buy them in HD, it would be a no-brainer.

I can understand why the studios would want to get the most they can out of selling HD movies. But by now they must be seeing the writing on the wall. iTunes and other online delivery services wrote the eventual death of hardcopy media long before the HDDVD/BluRay war ended. If I'm not mistaken (and I am on many occasions), didn't Microsoft and Netflix announce an online delivery partnership shortly after HDDVD threw in the towel? The only hardcopy media of any kind I have purchased since I got my AppleTV are shows and movies that I collect.
I would venture a guess that it's only a matter of time before HDTVs start coming with internal hard drives and wireless capability. In the next ten years or so, the way we watch movies and TV shows will change drastically, and the only reason for broadcast/cable TV will be to watch live events like news or sporting events. But they too will eventually be coming via online sources as well. The broadcast networks are going to have to make major changes in the way they do business and how they deliver their product in order to remain viable.
HD movie sales will be available soon enough. It's only a matter of time.
    98 cents change, please.

Yea I would have to say wait until the release of IOS 5, because the phone will probably run it a lot smoother. I mean go ahead and buy the Iphone 4 if you are dying to have it, because you can just update it which is no big deal at all, but it would be the smarter thing to wait for the new updates.
And the networ issue as far as I am aware is fixed on the Verizon iPhones, so it really depends on which service you have.
    - correct me if i am wrong
Have to disagree here, Apple have not even announced an iphone 5, it is pointless to speculate that we will see one or not see one until Apple actually releases a statement. ios was built and tested on the iphone 4 so there will not be any slowdown or laggyness compared to a phone that has not been released yet.
If we are advising potential apple product buyers then we should not be putting them off buying a iphone 4 on speculations alone. Just because apple have for the last few years released an iphone every june/july does not mean then have to stick to this approach.
Apple have not issued any statement regarding an iphone 5, until this time it does not exist, only in heresay on the internet.
Any one looking to get an iphone 4, to you i would say waiting until ios 5 is released is a personal choice, no matter if you wait or not you will be able to update via itunes. One way or another in the future you will have to do an ios update via itunes whether this is the 5.0 software or 5,2,1.
Please note that Apple are very closed mouthed about new hardware releases and potentially a new iphone could be round the corner, however there is no evidence to suggerst this, i.e Apple have not even mentioned an iphone 5 this year anything you hear towards the contrary is media spin thus far and speculation.
ios 5 was built and tested to work seamlessly on iphone 4, the beta software released to developers is being tested on iphone 4. Please do not listen to people telling you that the iphone 4 will not run this ios as well as a phone that does not exist yet. When iphone 5 launches it will most likely have dual processors and not until its launch will the next gen apps start appearing.

Hi, when the itunes finished the downloading for ios 6 , the iphone turned of and shows that i have to connect it with the itunes , i already did but still not working . please appreciate your help

First make sue you are installing the 64 bit version of iTunes.
Second make sure it is iTunes 10.7 or later.
I would download a fresh copy of the 64 bit version of iTunes 11. After installation reboot your computer.
Before connecting your phone reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Why can't I buy a movie in original language (english) because I live in Switzerland?

I really grinds my gears that I'm restricted to mostly German, French or Italian for the choice of the language of the movies I want to watch. I have to check every movie to make sure it is available in english, and I can only see that information on iTunes on my computer, which also ****** me off.
Apple, please do something about it. Why can I buy a DVD which will automatically have the original version in it, and not be able to buy a movie from iTunes without having to make sure it is in english when the movie WAS MADE IN ENGLISH...?

Because the movie studios released the movie to Apple with only those languages available.
    Suggestions here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Also, you should write the movie studios and tell them you want iTunes releases to be released with the original language as well as the language of the country it is released in.

  • Why can't I buy HD movies on iTunes for Windows?

    Hi,
Was hoping someone could help me with an issue I'm having trying to purchase HD movies on iTunes using a Windows 7 system.
When trying to purchase the movie in HD, I get the following message:
The thing is, I was able to buy 3 HD movies previously, but over the last few months, it hasn't been working. When I close the above window, it takes me to the system requirements, which I think I have.
Windows System Requirements for HD content:
32 or 64-bit version of Windows 7; Windows XP and Vista do not support HDCP
    iTunes 10 or later
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor
At least 1 GB of RAM
A video driver that supports HDCP (you may need to check with the manufacturer to determine if your video driver supports HDCP)
A display that supports HDCP with a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher with a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI)
    Here are my system details:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Dell Inspiron 537S
    Pentinum (R) Dual-Core CPU ES300 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz
    4.00 GB RAM memory
    64-bit Operating System
    iTunes 10.4
The only ones I'm not sure about are the last 2 bullets. I called Dell and I was told I didn't need a new monitor, but just a video card. I didn't trust the representative's answer too mcuh.
Does anyone know what I'm missing to be able to purchase HD movies?
If it helps, the movie I was trying to purchase was Transformers: Dark of the Moon
    Thank you!

    Do you have?
A video driver that supports HDCP (you may need to check with the manufacturer to determine if your video driver supports HDCP)
A display that supports HDCP with a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher with a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI)

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't for the life of me see the difference between your two package bodies. If the package specification is the same, there must be some difference, but I don't see it. Could you point out the difference?

  • Can a standard Adobe ID Suite be installed on more than one computer? If not; how can an educator buy a second seat on another computer with the same educators account?

Adobe requires an ID account to install software on a single computer. However I have a portable Mac as well as a desktop system. Can I install another copy with the monthly paid installation on the second computer or do I need to buy another seat with the same account?

    Hey tferm78!
I have a couple of options for you to consider. First, you may simply want to authorize all of your computers for your iTunes account and turn on Automatic Downloads, so that when you download something on one computer, it will automatically download to other computers:
iTunes Store: Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
iTunes Store: How to enable Automatic Downloads

You could also look into iTunes Match, a service that would seamlessly link all of your iTunes libraries:

Lastly, here is an article that will help you move your library from one computer to another, if you so desire:

  • Why can I purchase a plane ticket, but not an App with my Debit card?

I cant believe that Apple continues to not address this issue?!?!? Its been 2 years now that I cannot authorise my Debit card with my iTunes account, to buy a simple App, song or film? I refuse to own a Credit card just so I can purchase items in iTunes.
Wake up Apple, you are losing the thing you love most, MONEY!

Apple has not explained why they no longer accept debit cards in the iTunes Store. All we, your fellow users, here know is that apparently they don't. I doubt that Apple doesn't know that they lose sales due to this policy, so clearly they have some good reason. What that reason is we can only guess, and my guess is that they feel that the lost sales are less important than the problems causes when someone hacks an iTunes Store account and drains someone's bank account.
If you refuse to own a credit card - and personally I think you're taking a risk since debit cards usually give you much less protection against fraud - then perhaps prepaid iTunes cards would be the way to go.
    Regards.

  • HT1657 How can I find a specific movie I want to rent in the Itunes store?

  • Hi,  can I pay itunes match only with the itunes card in Germany?

because I have no credit card

CHRISRMOR:  With iTunes match, as long as you uploaded all of your songs to begin with, the music should be there when you open a new iTunes on your new hard drive.  You will just have to download it all from the cloud.  If you use iTunes match on other devices, you  can download any or all of your songs from the cloud too.  So to answer your question, yes, you are correct.  When you download iTunes onto your new hard drive, authorize the computer and turn on iTunes Match and update it, then all of your songs should be there.  There is a symbol of a cloud with an arrow pointing downward that will show that it is in the cloud.  If you right-click on that symbol you can download an individual song.  Or if you select all or a group  of songs, you can download all of them with a right-click.

Thanks, when you review a question you've posted each answer often has a mark as helpful or answered option near it.
You can give 2 five point awards for helpful, and 1 ten point award for correct answers.
You don't have to award points at all, it's nice and makes you feel your contributions are worthwhile, but more widely it's handy to see a question marked as answered either to know to look for a solution there for a similar issue or to allow you to skip things people have answered.
Let us know the answer if you find it elsewhere.
