Why can't I buy songs in other countries?

I'm hoping this will change. If we are allowed to access the iTunes Music Stores in other countries, then we should be allowed to buy the songs too.
I really enjoy the UK store, but I can't buy anything because I don't have a billing address in the UK!

Why? Licensing from the media companies. If an agreement hasn't been set up then Apple cannot sell the media. You can probably bet that if Apple can sell something they will because they are probably very happy to take your money.
You can see if another vendor in your country does sell the item.

Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

Are you in Italy with an Italian iTunes account ? If not then you won't be able to buy content from its store, you need to be in a country with a billing address and account in that country to be able to buy from it (content is licensed to Apple to sell on a country-by-country-basis). If there are particular songs that you'd like to buy then you can try requesting that they be added to your country's store, but ultimately it's the record company's decisionas to whether they can be sold there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Why can't I buy songs off my Itouch from itunes?

when i log into itunes from my itouch i can't but any songs. it works and i can view songs, but the button with the price where you click to but doesn't show up. I even have part of a gift card left on my itunes. This started when i recently downloaded a bunch of cds to my itouch.

If you haven't already tried, you have to plug your iPod into the computer and open iTunes. Then it can get confusing, but when you're in iTunes you have click on your device and then sync your music. This will take all the music already in your iTunes library and put it on your iPod. It will also take all the purchased music on your iPod and move it to iTunes.
However, if you have downloaded songs from cds or anyother program, they will not sync into iTunes and will be deleted from your iPod. But this will only happen if they are not already in iTunes. You also need to be careful of one other thing when you are syncing your iPod. The iTunes library already comes with a default of songs that apple provides you with, and these may also sync onto your iPod if you're not careful. I know because I had to do the same thing with my iPod and all this happened to me.

I currently have an account in the Canada itune store, but when I attempted to buy songs from the Japan store, the error -3237 popped up! Do I need to register the location as Japan to download from the Japan store?

This topic is literally asked & answered dozens of times a week in the forums. In order to purchase from another country, you will have to have a credit card with a billing address issued in that country. The other option is a gift card from that country but the billing address rule still applies. This is not Apple's fault, but rules the record companies require as they dislike cross-border sales.
Just a suggestion since you're both new, it might be easier to try to "search" the forum, using several different terms to see if your question has been asked previously, that way you don't have to wait, hoping that someone comes along who can answer your question.

why can I not order music from either germany or austria if the canadian itunes does not have it?
I don't mind paying in euros or paypal, which ever.
I think the stores should be compatable or should allow buying from another country.

The short answer is that the content owners do not allow Apple to sell content across country borders. It's not by Apple's choice.

I have the same problem. I am trying to purchase music from the German iTunes store.
Is there a way around it? For example, could a friend in Germany "gift" me a song? Would it arrive in my mailbox and would I be able to then download the song? Or, could my friend buy me an iTunes gift card from the German store which I could then use to purchase music from that store? There must be a way around this obstacle! Anyone have any ideas?

It puzzles me. If you buy a CD abroad, you can play it in your CD player at home. So why not iTunes downloads. For instance, I'm located in the Netherlands, but I see an album in the US store I want to download, but I can't because I'm only allowed to buy something from the Dutch store.
Why ? It makes no sense.

Please give more information, as your device model and software version. Also what happens when you try to buy music? Probably is because you don't have an apple id synced up or you haven't registered a credit card.

Why Can't I buy music from other country's music store?

There are albums I want to buy (in Spain's music store, in particular) but I can't. And for some futarded reason, those albums aren't available in the USA's music store.
Why is this? When are they going to fix it? Why doesn't the world revolve around me and my tastes?

this has been discussed more than once:
It's the decision of the big record labels and/or the copyright holders - it's not a decision made by Apple.
So there won't be any "fix" until the record labels will change their attitude.

Why can I not buy songs from iTunes Music Store?

Earlier this year I moved from the U.S.A. to Sweden... changing my 'Mac.com' account address while doing so.
Last week, I tried to purchase some songs from the iTunes Music Store with my American MasterCard (a debit card) which is listed with my Swedish address at my U.S. bank. As I had never purchased at the iTunes M.Store before I was instructed to 'review my account'... which I did. It had my present Sweden address and my Mastercard listed as method of payment. Upon submitting the form, it was rejected, saying that my MasterCard was 'invalid for Sweden'! So I then go to the Apple-Sweden Store and purchase an iTunes Music Card which I receive in the mail the following day. Now I follow the Apple advice posted for purchasing music by redeeming an iTunes Music Card without listing a credit card (http://www.apple.com/se/support/itunes/store/giftcard/#GCA)... except there is no selection for NONE as indicated in these instructions.... So once again when I submit the form it is rejected, meaning that this time I have already spent money for the iTunes Music Card that is now worthless to me!
Is there another way I can redeem this card without going through that 'review account' window...?
I don't care to set up another account by setting up another e-mail address just to do this... as I want all of the Apple business to go through my Mac.com account as it should be configured to do so!

O.K. Everything seems to be in order now!
I don't know what happened but this is the results....
After attempting to edit change the information on my iTunesMS account at least 7 times, I posted the above question, logged out of iTunes, closed down all my apps and turned off my computer.
A few hours later, I thought I would give it one more try and when I turned on iTunes, went to the Music Store and then 'reviewed' my account... it had my old American address on it with the country listed as Sweden... I just left it alone, as it didn't have my credit card info listed at all... Curiously, I'm clueless about that (though I did send this same complaint to Apple during the first posting... did that have anything to do with it?) When I clicked the continue button (without changing any info) it prompted me that I was finished setting up my iTunes Music Store account and I was immediately able to download some songs....(using the iTunes Music card--- I have not tried my MasterCard!)
So basically, I did nothing except close iTunes, turn off my computer and later rebooted it and opened iTunes! Strange... does that seem like a fix or what?

I have some money on my itunes account - it was originally from a giftcard, but when I try and purchase songs it won't let me! It keeps reverting me to the billing information. Help please!

Due to recent security issues and identify theft (mostly due to phishing scams), the iTunes Store seems to be requiring more frequent verification of credit card information when a card is registered in your account, even if you have a balance from a prepaid card. Either just go through the verification process or, if you have a credit card entered and don't expect to need it anytime soon, go into the Payment information in your account and set the payment method to "none" which should then stop the regular requirements for verification (it may still ask - mine does - but you should just be able to click through the buttons without problems).
