Why can't i connect to the Wi-Fi at my doctors office?
It's a free, open network but i try logging on to my new MacBook Pro and nothing! I go to network settings and diagnostics and it says im connected via Wi-Fi but isp failed and internet connection failed. On my Iphone 4s it works great, as soon as im there a pop up comes on browser and states to log in as a guest and im on the internet. My MacBook Pro in the other hand stays loading and does nothing doesnt give me that screen asking me to log in as a guest. Please help me out on this anybody. Apprecaite the help.
It's hard to tell exactly what might be wrong. Can you connect your MacBook Pro to other wireless networks in the city, like at Starbucks or McDonald's? If you can, you probably have it set up correctly, but if you can't, the problem might be in your network settings. If you are knowledgable about networks I would ask whether the MacBook Pro is getting a self-assigned IP address or not, since that would indicate a different problem than if it had a router-assigned IP address...

- logging out and back into your account on it
- disconnecting and reconnecting to your network
- a soft-reset (i.e. a reboot) -

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

ThanksI assume all of your network connections are OK, you can get to the internet and that you aren't blocked by something like an enterprise firewall. Are those assumptions correct? . My experience has been that from time to time, the update server get's "maxxed out", and if you try later it will work.

If you do not have an iPad with 3G cellular service, you can only connect to the internet when you have access to Wifi. Wifi is not available everywhere, but there are places that do offer free Wifi service, such as Starbucks, Panera Bread, the Airport, etc. When you are at a location which offers free Wifi access, you have to join their network, which is usuall nothing more than touching a connect option that should automatically pop up, when you open Safari on your ipad.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
