Why can't I create a iCloud account

Can't create a iTunes account

You can create an account on another device or computer, and then use it
on your iPhone.
You cannot unlink the iPhone from its previous account. The owner of the iCloud
account to which the iPhone is linked must remove the account before you can
use your iCloud account on that iPhone.

  • Why can't I access my icloud account on iPad

Why can't I access my icloud account with iPad mini ?

On your iPhone iCloud is accessed automatically when you use the iPhone, I.e., contacts syncing, calendars syncing iCloud documents accessed, backups made, etc.
To enable iCloud functionality go to Settings > iCloud.

  • Why can't I get my icloud account to register my new email on my iPad. I have managed to change it with iTunes and Apple.

I bought an iPad and opened up an iCloud account now iCloud won't register my new email address on my iPad! Why?

    Okay, got it working!
My process was pretty straightforward (of course, everything is, in hindsight):
    (1) Go to my user library folder
    (2) Do a spotlight search for the word "mail"
    (3) Delete something that looks like it might be related to/possibly interfering with Mail's operation
    (4) Try Mail
I repeated the above process a couple of times and poof, Mail started to add my accounts!  First, my Gmail account, and then, after disabling and re-enabling my iCloud account inside System Preferences > iCloud, my iCloud account too!
The file I believe was the lynchpin was located here:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail
Give that a shot if you can't get your iCloud/Gmail email to show up in Apple Mail 7.1 (1827) under OS X 10.9.1, despite the accounts seemingly adding succesfully in System Preferences.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This may delete mail you have stored locally, so please do not attempt if you store your email locally (i.e. POP email setups).  I think for IMAP setups (e.g. iCloud & Gmail) this is just deleting the cached versions of the emails, so they'll just get rebuilt once the email is downloaded from the server again.

  • Why can't I create a POP account?

I wanted to change an IMAP mail account to POP. I thought I knew how to do it. I saved all my messages to different folders on my Mac. I then deleted the IMAP account.
I went to Accounts in Preferences and clicked to create a new account. I filled in my name, email address, and password on the first screen that came up. It did it's stuff and, voilá, an IMAP fully formed account was created.
I know that I've seen mail account creation dialogues with a big button on top divided in half with IMAP and POP and you click the half depending on what kind of account you want.
Why don't I seem to be able to do that now?
    Thanks in advance.

This worked perfectly. I wanted to award points for "helpful" or "solved" but the link didn't work. Right above where I'm typing here it says:
ote: You have not assigned any "helpful" or "solved" points. To do this, go back to your question and click on "helpful" or "solved" next to each message. Awarding points is an important way to encourage people to answer your questions in the future.
But when I went back the link was dead. Anyway, thanks.

  • Why can't I delete an iCloud account, I think we should have that option, this is ridiculous.

I worry about my information floating around some server through Icloud when I don't want it there. Apple should provide a way to completely delete an icloud account from everywhere - devices, the web etc. If I had known that I wouldn't have this option, I would have never signed up for one considering all the trouble icloud has caused me. It keeps losing my contacts etc. Am I the only one that is annoyed and frustrated by this?
I can delete an account from my iphone 5s but not from the internet. ***?

You can't delete the actual account. In part this is probably to prevent the address from becoming available again and someone else grabbing it and pretending to be you. You can go to the website and delete all your data there so that it's empty, and then just ignore it.

  • Why can't I downgrade my iCloud account

I no longer want to continue with my iCloud account T £14 a year.  When I log into iCloud settings the option to downgrade to free is greyed out.  Help..

You can cancel an iCloud storage upgrade but only within 15 days of buying:
Apple seem to have made this as difficult as possible. You may be able to do this using http://expresslane.apple.com - Click on 'More products and services', then 'iCloud', 'Account and setup' then 'This topic is not listed'. Explain the situation in the box provided and wait for a response - include a phone number. However you may find you cannot proceed without entering a hardware serial number which is still eligible for AppleCare.
In that event you will need to phone them directly, using the Apple Online Store number given at the bottom of this page. The first person you speak to may tell you to do it from the iCloud website but this is not possible. Politely insist on escalating the issue to a more senior person and eventually you should be able to get through to someone who can deal with this (you may have to wait for them to call you back) - you will be asked security questions and for part of your credit card number to identify yourself.
If it is more than 15 days since you purchased the storage you cannot cancel it for a refund; you can downgrade your plan as from your next renewal date. Please see

  • Why can't i create a kid account on family share?

I upgraded to iOS8 on my phones and ipad. Since my son been sharing my account and i always have to approve his purchases, I wanted to make him his own account now when you can with family share. However, when I try to add a kid account, it says that I have to add my credit card to iTunes. However my card is already added there. Is this a bug or am I doing to wrong somehow?

    Hi Zubera,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’re running into an issue creating an Apple ID for your son, iTunes is requesting payment information. Take a look at the article linked below, it’ll walk you through the process of creating an Apple ID for a child.
Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids
Create an Apple ID for your child
Before you begin, make sure that you're using a credit card as your iTunes Store and App Store payment method. You'll use the security code on the credit card as part of providing your parental consent.
Use these steps to create an Apple ID and add the child to your family group:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Family, and tap "Create an Apple ID for a child."
Enter your child's birthday and tap Next.
Review the Parent Privacy Disclosure and tap Agree.
Enter the security code for your credit card and tap Next.
Enter your child's name, tap Next, then create their Apple ID ([email protected]) and tap Next.
Follow the onscreen instructions to set a password, choose security questions, and set up your child's account. Choose passwords and security questions that you both can remember.
After you add your child to your family group, they will have their own Apple ID that they can use on any Apple device. Your email address will be the rescue email address for your child’s account, and you can use it with the security questions you provided to reset a forgotten password.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why can't I create Road Runner account?

Set up the trial .mac mail account okay.
Have a hawaii.rr email on old PC and trying to set up on laptop.
Sometimes the pop-server creates but the smtp-server doesn't and sometimes neither one creates.
Called RR twice...they keep saying it's a Apple problem.

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1315184&tstart=75
My Road Runner account ran into the same problem until my friend cloeb fixed it for me. The two techs I had talked to previously at RR told me to contact Apple, as it was their issue.
Maybe something in the above-mentioned thread will work for you.
    Good luck!

  • Why can I not create this user account?

I deleted an account and I'm now trying to recreate it. When I go to the Account manager and type in the name (using the same name I had before) I am unable to. I get the message "The name you have chosen conflicts with a name assigned to another user. You can't assign the name "Joe Smith" to two different users. Remember that name s are not case sensitive when check for conflicts."
The thing is, I don't have another user in any variant of Joe Smith.
    What gives?

Same problem here: "The name you have chosen conflicts with a name assigned to another user." - "You can’t assign the name “x” to two different users. Remember that names are not case-sensitive when checking for conflicts."
    When running a
    $ dscl localhost -read "/Search/Users/x"
    it returns a
    <dscl_cmd> DS Error: -14136 (eDSRecordNotFound)

  • Why can't I activate my iCloud account?

I have fully upgraded Macbook, iMac & iPhone. I cannot activate my account because I have received none of the "verification emails" from Apple. My email address has not been verified despite Apple ID\Password working otherwise. I have tried everything for many hours - it would be good to receive some support particularly as the MacBook was only bought a few days ago. Apple Support on-line advice leads nowhere and I can't access a phone call or chat line for advice.

Have you requested that Apple send you a new verification email.

  • HT201342 Why can you not use your iCloud account as your apple ID?

    ??

This answer is probably the most popular one on the forum.  But apparently, this is a view not shared by virtually anyone else in the industry.  You can pretty much point to the same risks at stake for Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, or what-have-you.  No one else requires you to use a primary account other than their own.
The predicament you mentioned could easily be resolved by requiring multiple contact numbers and addresses, which Apple kind of does already.
My thinking is there's either something more 'sinister' at play, or Apple just haven't really took the time to think about this issue.

  • Why can't I create a free icloud account

Why won't it let me create an icloud account?

You can create an account on another device or computer, and then use it
    on your iPhone.
You cannot unlink the iPhone from its previous account. The owner of the iCloud
account to which the iPhone is linked must remove the account before you can
use your iCloud account on that iPhone.

  • I can't create an icloud account from my occasion iphone 5. I don't know why...

I bought before some days an occasion iphone 5, but always when I like to create an icloud account, in final of the process, it appears a message like that "This device (iphone) is not allowed to create a free icloud". what I must do?

Yes.  This is what you friend would need to do.  He (she) would need to start by saving any photo stream photos on his phone to his camera roll unless they are already there.  To do this, he should go to his my photo stream album, tap Select (Edit in iOS 6), tap the photos, tap the share icon--box with upward pointing arrow (Share in iOS 6), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  Then he should go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.  (If he is running iOS 7 he will be prompted to also enter his iCloud password to turn off Find My iPhone.)  This will only delete his iCloud data from his phone, not from his iCloud account.  His data will sync back to his phone when he signs back in.
Then you can go to Settings>iCloud on his phone and sign in with your Apple ID to create your new account.  Leave all other settings off and do not choose Merge with iCloud if you are prompted (since you do not want his data in your new account).  Then tap Delete Account to delete your new account from his phone (and provide your password if prompted to turn off Find My iPhone).
Then your friend can go to Settings>iCloud on his phone, sign back in with his iCloud ID and his data will sync back to his phone as it was before.
Then you can go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and sign in with your Apple ID.  Since you are signing into an existing iCloud account this time you will not receive the prompt that your phone is not allowed to create.  Then you shoudl be good to go.

  • HT1918 Why can't I use my icloud email address for my iTunes account

Tired of the cox communications inability to imap emails, going to dump it completely want to use the icloud email address I have, why can't I change my apple id to that email address

"Well, then I want to be able to merge that one and the one my purchases are on..."
This is exactly what I want to do but don't think I can:
    I noticed the following :
If you attempt to create an Apple ID which is the same as your @icloud email address from the online facility, it does not allow you (can't use an Apple associated email address as your Apple ID). However - if you start a fresh device - such as a new iPhone, iPad (must be mobile it seems), and then create an iCloud account and Apple ID from the prompts when setting up the mobile device, it IS possible to have your Apple ID and @iCloud email address as the same. I know because I just did it!
Unfortunately for me, the result I got above is not for one of my own ID's but a friends, and I would VERY much like to do the same - my current Apple ID is a completely different email address from my iCloud account. Trying to get them the same in my situation is a major bother - I think that if I wipe a device (such as an iPhone5 that is mine) and try to setup as I did my friend's device, then I will get a conflict because the iCloud email I have ALREADY exists. This is my worry and I will not attempt this until I get the new iPad 4 soon to test this.
There is an inconsistency here between the two methods of creating Apple ID's and iCloud accounts.
Overall in my opinion, the Apple ID system as currently available from Apple is not designed very well, and should be addressed.
    Best wishes -

  • Why do I get a prompt to create an iCloud account when I already have one?

When I try to turn on notes so my iPhone and iPad will sync, I am prompted to create an account when I already have one. Why? How can I do this?

Have you created an iCloud account?  This is not the account or ID you use for iTunes.  And where exactly are you turning on notes?  In what area within settings of your devices?
