Why can't i delete photostream from icloud ??

I was trying to delete some picture that i don't want to share with anyone so why can't i delete or where it the button say that is should be somewhere say DELETE BUTTON on photostream??
I did go to icloud and click on advanced to reset my photostream but it keep saying error urgh why am i getting this again and again?? it shouldn't be so difficult just to delete only few pictures but why should i reset whole picture why WHY?? I think you guys struggling since RIP Steven Job passed away and you should be able fix this by now so please please help me on this thank you....

I didn't say SJ announced the lack of a delete facility.
I meant the way it works now is the way it worked when it was announced by him back in June because the OP was implying that due to SJ no longer being with us, somehow that had some bearing on there being no delete function, and somehow that must mean Apple are struggling without him.
Too frequently on these forums lately, people attribute what they see as "bugs", "omissions" or "oversights" as being a result of Steve Jobs no longer being around, when in fact these things were decided long before Steve even stepped down as CEO.
Photo Stream wasn't developed in-between 5th October and 12th October, so SJ would've known about the lack of a delete function way back in June, and long before that too.

What happens when you try to delete them from the iBooks app on your Mac ? If they are downloaded into the app (i.e. they don't have the cloud symbol on them) then you should be able to select them and then press the delete button on your keyboard to delete them.
In terms of the cloud, you can't permanently delete any item from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they don't show for redownloading, which you can either do via your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
Or for the iBooks app you can go into the Store in the app, and on the Featured tab select the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the screen and hide them (hover your mouse pointer on a book and it should get an 'x' on its top left corner, click that to hide the book).

I've noticed that my iCloud backups are constantly hitting their 5GB max, even after clearing out camera rolls, etc.
After some testing, I've found that iMessages are also backed up. For someone like me, I'm constantly sending pictures / videos to friends and family, having a little guy under a year old (but that's not important).
In any case, it seems you can set iCloud backup for just about every app EXCEPT iMessages. The only way I've found to solve this is to constantly delete message threads from my iPhone, so that they aren't taking up iCloud space. But this honestly is a bit of a pain (okay, only a little bit)... why can't I keep my messages around for as long as I want, without backing them up?

Make sure you have their icloud email they use for imessage in their contact information before sending them an imessage.

You'll have to go to your Settings -> Mail, Contacts, etc -> Email Account -> Advanced -> Deleted Mailbox
Turn off Archive mode, Turn on Trash
You can also put the phone in airplane mode to delete them real quick, but that's only a temporary fix.

It sounds like you are try to delete the songs by connecting the iPod to other than the computer from which the songs were synced. You can only delete songs synced to an an older iPod (pre iOS 5) by connecting the iPod to its syncing computer and unsync them.

Why can't I delete photos from my iPad?

Quite by accident, I discovered how to delete over 300 photos all at once. Inside iTunes, I clicked on where to file under photos and picked a file on my computer that had 8 landscape photos. iTunes copied those 8 photos over to my iPad and completely erased all of my unwanted photos. Luckily, these 300+ photos were backed up elsewhere.

Only photos that are in photostream can be retreaved unless you have a back up.

Why can't I delete photos from iPhoto (ios)

The whole point of the app seems to be to edit and organize photos, so if I've taken the time to hide some number of photos, why can't I then delete these? Instead I have to go to the Photo app and delete them there, which doesnt show me any of the tagging or organizing I spent time on in iphoto... It should at least then show me "hidden" photos in Photo so I can delete them there, or let me delete from iphoto and it just removes it from Photo after, it seems pretty simple. Why has iphoto (ios) been limited in this way?

Adunn83 I agree, this needs to addressed by apple in the next update. You should be able to delete photos that are on the iPad camera roll from within iPhoto, end of discussion.
This stops the iPad being a pc replacement without this and iPhoto on the iPad was why I bought the largest iPad and not a mac, I'm not impressed and it should be a simple fix.
Does anyone know how we can let apple know to add this to the next update I tried to look how to email the developer but it just went thought to apple support and wanted to phone me. I just want to let the developers know its something customers want fixing, do the iphoto developers read this forum ?

How can I restore deleted data from ICloud?

I just lost my IPhone 4S 32GB. Using find my IPhone app in iCloud, realised that, because of being shut down immediately after loosing, there will be no chance to get it back. So I choosed to remote delete all data from that device.
Although one day later I still had all my data in iCloud, after another two days everything was lost! After another day, I was able to see only one contact in my contact list, as well as calender activities up to one month before loosing the phone.
As sync was activated also with my outlook, I have there an empty database as well.
Mails are also missing, from all the servers (even if for one of them IMAP was the setting), also for the last month.
Please HELP me get all the info back. Thanks.

An iCloud account doesn't store multiple copies of a single note,
This can appear to happen if you are saving them to multiple locations
Notes can be saved to
       Email accounts
       iCloud
       iPhone or device
You most likely lost access to one of the sources of Notes.
Make sure that each of the accounts that can use notes has them turned on.

How can I restore deleted emails from iCloud backup?

I have an Earthlink email account that never synced with the server before, so I went a little crazy deleting a bunch of emails. It wasn't until I checked my WebMail that I realized it deleted them from the server, too. I checked with Earthlink and they couldn't do anything for me. But I had an iCloud backup from yesterday that I tried to restore. Except the email account keeps syncing with the server and I'm back to where I started. Is there any way to retrieve this data? It's gotta still be in the backup, right?

If they were backed up, you can restore your phone from that previous backup. If they weren't backed up, you cannot restore them.

Loosing files so why can't I retrieve them from icloud?

I am randomly getting messages that itunes cannot locate files. I have Icloud and they are all on there! Why can't I go to icloud and retrieve them? What is the point of icloud if you can't get your music off it??

How did you do the import from iPhoto? Did you export/ share them from iPhoto to the disk and import them from there to Aperture? That would explain the reduzed quality and resolution.
Aperture offers two mechanisms to import iPhoto pictures - both are accessed from the Aperture main menu File -> import
The iPhoto Browser: - File -> import - Show iPhoto Browser
This option lets you select and import indiviual photos in iPhoto. Both, the masters and versions are added to your Aperture Library as managed import.
Import iPhoto Library: - File -> import - iPhoto Library
You import the whole library, and you can choose if you want to add the masters managed or referenced.
With both these options you will preserve all the quality/resolution available in iPhoto; Aperture will import the masters and any versions, and so some pictures may appear to be duplicated after the import. You will be able to tell by the keywords if you are looking at an original master or a version.

Why can't I delete photos from my album?

I created an album today and am trying to sort through it by keyword to check that each photo is labeled correctly. I have been doing this by going to the search box below and choosing one keyword. However, iPhoto will not allow me to delete any photos from this album if I have any keyword selected in that search box. If anything is entered in the search box, and then I select photos and hit "delete", the following photo just gets highlighted, instead of the selected photo being deleted. How can I select all the photos in an album that have a particular keyword, then delete them from the album?
Also, earlier I clicked a box that said "do not confirm before deleting", when I was deleting several photos from this album. Now I'd like that confirmation box to reappear. How do I get that back?

Here's an example :
- Say I have a group of photos flagged. I navigate to the "flagged" smart album. I then click open the "info" pane on the right. I see that a picture of my husband and son is wrongly keyworded "cousins". I click on the picture, then on the keyword "cousins". I hit delete and tab. "cousins" reappears. I try deleting "cousins" and hitting "tab" instead. The deleted keyword reappears again. I delete it about three more times before "cousins" finally disappears for good. Then I add the keywords "brett" and "noah" and click off the picture. Select the photo again, only see the keyword "brett" - no "noah". Yes, I could hit command-K and open the keyword menu, but that's an extra step that I shouldn't have to take, seeing as keywords are available in the info pane. I simply can't figure out what they are wanting me to do in order just to simply delete a keyword using the "info" pane. Is there a particular keystroke that makes a keyword addition/deletion "stick"? I have tried using tab, return, clicking off the keyword box, and no matter, those stinkers just keep undeleting themselves.
Another example of incorrectly adding/subtracting keywords:
- Again, in the "flagged" smart album, let's say I have clicked on the search box, and chosen to search for all photos with the keyword "san francisco". Now I look in those photos for ones of my husband. I highlight only those particular photos (by holding down 'command') and then using the info pane, type in the keyword "brett". Instead of adding "brett" to the selected photos within the keyword "san francisco", "brett" is added to ALL the photos with the "san fran" keyword.
- Same scenario, only this time I want to delete a keyword from selected photos in the "san fran" group - but it gets deleted from ALL the "san fran" keyworded photos.
I can get around this problem by adding photos, such as the "san fran" keyworded group, to a regular album, and then adjusting keywords, and the problem doesn't seem to repeat itself. To me this seems like an unnecessary step, but it does work. Anyways, within the flagged album, and I would assume within other smart albums as well (though I haven't tested this theory), I am having trouble with iPhoto adding/subtracting keywords as described above.
Seriously, thank you again for taking the time to help me out here!
P.S. I have deleted the preferences file 3-4 times already, and that doesn't seem to have any effect on these particular issues.
