Why can't I delete some emails that have no content?

I have some emails that when I try to delete them the email app closes I cannot even select the email without the app closeing

Did you try swiping the emails from the list view? You don't have to open the emails - just swipe on the message in the list from left to right and a red delete button pops up.
Try resetting the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 101-5 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. See if that helps.
You can try closing mail as well. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close mail by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the mail app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close it. Restart the iPad - by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. See if you can delete the emails now.

Why can't I delete some of my emails?

If it only happens with selected emails and not all of them, I don't think this is the problem, but you can check this to be sure.
Go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>tap the blue arrow next to the email address under Account>Advanced>Deleted Mailbox>On my iPad>Trash. I have an IMAP account and it is set to On the Server>Trash.

Why can I not delete any emails on my iphone5?

Thx. That seems to have solved my problem. I don't know but just all of a sudden when I opened an emal there was no option at the bottom.  After doing as you suggested, now all the options are back. Quite confusing to me. I do appreciate your suggestion and fix.

  • On an iMac why can't you delete an email without opening it?

Why can't I delete an email without opening it first? Is this not a security risk as I have always been advised that, if I don't know who the email is from, I should delete it so as to avoid opening any suspect attachments that open immediately.
This is my first Mac so could it be that I have not realised how to do this?
My wife can do this on her iPad.

    A couple of points:
    1. Your concern is not really an issue with macs. More of a PC thing. "Suspect attachments" are extremely, extremely rare for a mac. I mean, like one since 1984, when I bought my first mac. The reason is that Apple seems to be on top of things and keeps updating mac software to protect your mac from this sort of thing. Just keep up with the system updates and you won't have a problem. Microsoft, on the other hand, makes tons of security holes in their software because of their mindset, i.e., that the consumer is a moron and the enemy.
    2. In my mail.app, there are three columns in the message viewer, the first which lists the mailboxes, the second which lists the emails, and the third which is a preview window. I can select an email in the second column and delete it without opening it, so I don't see what the problem is that you're having.

       1. Use Apple's Express Lane.
Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the

'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple

  • Why can't I delete some synced multiples?

Am syncing a Mac, iPad, and iPhone.  I often have multiples of the same pictures appear on the devices. I am able to trash some of them but others do not display the trash can when selected. I can find no logic in why multiples appear or won't delete

Do you have your iPod set up to automatically sync your iTunes content including Podcasts or do you manually add and remove content from youri Pod via iTunes?
If you automatically sync content to your iPod, double check your sync settings from under your iPod's Podcasts configuration tab in iTunes.  Try removing the option to sync podcasts at all and then updating the changes to your iPod.  This will remove ALL podcasts from the iPod. Once it has finished, resync the podcasts back to your iPod and see if that helps.
Otherwise, it may be necessary to just restore your iPod to factory settings.

  • Why can't i delete some apps?

I just upgraded to iOS7 (hate the new look BTW) and now I have Facetime as an app.  I don't want it 'cause frankly I have no use for it, but apparently I can't delete it, just like the Games app.  Is there some way to delete standard apps that apparently come with the OS?
    Shado

The Apps included with the iOS can not be deleted. Your best bet may be to move the unused Apps to a common folder, call it "Unused" and move it to the last screen.

  • Why can't I delete some podcasts on iTunes 11.1?

I have OS X 10.6.8. I upgraded from iTunes 11.0.5 to 11.1, and now I cannot delete some of my podcasts, even if I unsubscribe to them first. In some cases, I can delete a podcast, but it returns immediately, with that new cloud icon beside it. Does anyone know how I can delete these darned things?
    Thanks,
    Sheila

I have this issue as well in itunes 11.01.  Can't right click, get a menu and delete a movie/video.  Can't highlight and hit delete key.  Have actually gone into iTunes location on Windows 7 and completely deleted all videos from both the music and tv shows folders from my computer.  Then, deleted them from my recycle bin so they no longer exist on my computer.  Same goes for books.
They still show up in iTunes, and still sync to iPad...

  • Why can't I delete some cache items in Safari preferences?

Safari>Preferences>Privacy>Details: Several cache items return right after they are deleted. I then went to Safari>Preferences>Advanced>placed check in box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar". But that menu does not show up in menu bar. If I close out and relaunch Safari, the unwanted cache items are gone from the Privacy Details. Even though the Develop menu never appeared, if I then go back to Advanced and uncheck the Develop menu box, those same "deleted" cache items return to the Privacy Details list. What if I don't want to delete some, but not all, the cache items? Why isn't the Develop menu appearing in the Safari menu bar? Is deleting cache items an all-or-none choice?

You're not the only one experiencing such problems.
Just installed Lion - and in Safari the ability to block cookies does not work at all, either in selecting 'from third parties and advertisers' or 'always'. Likewise, in selecting to 'remove all website data' such information repopulates within a couple of seconds.
I am not at all at happy with this situation. If anyone has a solution, do share.

  • Why can't I delete some files on iDisk?

I need to delete some sync data on the iDisk (MobileMe syncing is corrupted). But for many files I get the message: "you don't have sufficient privileges for some of the items".
And mind you, these are NOT the core files like Backup, Documents, Web etc. which I know cannot be deleted. These are files and folders underneath these 'core folders', like Bookmarks.xml under iDisk>Library>Applications Support>Bookmarks.
Thanks in advance for any pointers/suggestions/solutions. Cheers, Veit

The best procedure would probably be to go to System Preferences>MobileMe>Sync, stop sync (do this on all machines), then click on the 'Advanced' button and then on 'Reset sync data'.
Then you will need to set up all syncing again from scratch. Though I've never tried to tamper with the files you mention I wouldn't be surprised to find they were protected (as is the '_gallery' folder in Web/Sites) to stop people deleting them inadvertently.
