Why can't I delete temporary internet files in Bootcamp/AppData folders

Why can't I delete temporary internet files in Bootcamp/AppData folders. Message occurs that file cannot be deleted.

Are you trying to delete files from your Time Machine backup?  Don't do that!! If you have files/photos you wish to delete then delete them from iPhoto or whatever photo application you are using. They will be removed from the backup by the TimeMachine backup system. Your backup is not a simple file it is a time/event dependent organizational picture of your system sort of like a multilayered transparent collage, but if you start pulling random pieces out it will collapse the file system. Under "user config\preferences\windows settings\folder" Created 2 folders to delete Temporary Internet files with with 1 targeting Windows 7 and the other targeting windows xp.
Here the the path for windows 7: C:\Users\%localappdata%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
Here is the path for xp: C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
However, temporary internet files not being deleted. Are my paths correct and are my enviroment variables correct. thanks

Smartest solution: Use Item Level Targeting on the content of a registry
    value:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell
    Folders:Cache
Put that content in a variable and use this variable as target path for
    your folder ;-)
Works on each OS that supports GPP.
But things may get hard when deleting the "Low" folder - so why not
    simply use

  • How do I manually delete temporary internet files, and if I delete them on IE are they also deleted onFirefox?

I know how to delete cookies on firefox but have not figured out how to delete temporary internet files. I can do it on IE, does that do the job or do I have to delete TIF's on firefox also?

The equivalent of temporary internet files on Firefox is the cache. For details of how to clear it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Clearing TIFs in IE will not clear the cache in Firefox.

Also Firefox uses a Cache and not IE's temporary internet files.

  • I want to delete temporary internet files. Notice I did not say clear the cache. That does not work! How can I delete the temp files? Why did you take that feature away? VERY frustrating that you would do that!

I search for how to delete temp int files and keep coming up with the "clear cache" crap. That is not what I searched for. Clear cache does NOT delete the temp files. Why would you take that feature away??

The Windows temporary internet files folder isn't used directly by Firefox. Firefox uses its own cache folder and you can see its current usage on the about:cache page via the location bar.
If anything does show up in the temporary internet files folder then it is likely caused by using MS plugins like the Windows Media Player or Silverlight. You need to clear that folder via IE or the control panel (internet settings).

  • User can't access his Temporary Internet Files

    Hi,
one of our User gets the following error message when he tries to edit a visio file on our sharepoint:
    "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporaray Internet File\Content.I...
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
If the user logs on to another host in the rds-server-farm(Windows Server 2008 R2) he could edit the file. But how can i prevent this error?
We delete cached profiles once a week.
    Best regards,
    Minti_

    could be several reasons;
    insufficient permissions,
    network connections,
missing or corrupt files or even because a file or folder is being blocked by Windows or by your antivirus application
Also be sure to check the Permisions of the file for blocked MAC addresses and/or full control for the specific user/computer
If he's in a OU , check for the permisions and policy's within the server
Also check the firewall permisions of the user

  • Why can't I delete simple photo files even with admin access?

I'm cleaning my Time Capsule HD deleting some photo files. Most of them were just moved to trash, but when I try to move a specific folder, the OS asks my password saying that Finder wants to make changes. After typing in my password I receive a message that I don't have permission to access some of the items. It dosn't make any sense since I, same account tring to delete them, have copied these files into that folder.
    I really appreciate any support.
    Thaks and regards,
    Alex

  • Deleting Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

    Hello
I'm new to the world of Macs and am puzzled by this issue. On WinXP there is a way to delete the masses of temporary files that accumulate when browsing on-line. Is there a way to do this on a Mac? I cannot find anything about this in any of the books on Tiger I possess and my pal who encouraged me to get the G5 hasn't "even thought about it!" Does it happen automatically (as does Defragging, so I read) or isn't it an issue with MacOS's?

Thank you so much, maclover. I'm extremely impressed by how quickly my query has been answered. And your warm words of welcome are appreciated.
I have to say that my introduction to Macs was rather fraught. My Powermac behaved most oddly when I set it up. I assumed it was my inexperience that caused it to respond to opening Photoshop by telling me "This server is not available or doesn't exist"! or show its infuriating rainbow wheel in permanent motion when I clicked on iPhoto, and many other quirks. My mac-using friend was aghast at what mine got up to and I went back to my (fairly) reliable pc. But a re-install of the system discs effected a miracle cure and I'm completely at home with the gear now. When I read the very partisan "Macs are wonderful, Windows pcs are rubbish" in certain magazines I do think back to how close my Powermac came to being kicked across the room. A brand new machine from the Apple Store shouldn't have been like that.
Now I've got that off my chest I can only thank you again
    Regards

  • Why can't I delete this video file from my trash can?

I have a video file that I will not disappear from my trash can when I click the "empty track" button. I managed to move the folder containing the video file from documents to the trash after a lot of effort, but it kept telling me that I didn't have the privileges necessary to delete the video permanently. Now the video file is sitting inside a folder inside the trash can where I can't move anywhere else. If I try to move it anywhere else, it simply copys to that folder but stays inside the original stays in the trash can as well, but I can still delete the copy and the original stays sitting in the trash can. Can anyone help me so I can get rid of this file once and for all.

ho yeah .. i know that, but i tried even in a low quality and it's not worked.
Maybe it's related to the TimeQuick?

  • Temporary Internet Files

I am new to this forum and new to MAC. I have a used PowerBook G4, with MAC OS 10.4.7. My issue is this, the other day I got a notice that I only had a minimal amount of Memory left, even though I have not downloaded anything and I do not create documents that take up a large capacity of space. My roommate who sold me the MAC said something about deleting Temporary Internet Files, I know how to do this on a PC with Explorer, but this computer doesn't have Explorer. I don't know what the deal is. I deleted a large bit of info, mainly all my iTunes to get back up to more than 2GB, well in just two days of only being on the internet and nothing else, I am down to 1.5GB. Where is my memory going and how do I get it back? Can anyone help me. I would really appreciate it. If you could send me your responses to my email address~ [email protected] Thank you for all the help you can provide!

  • New Temporary Internet Files folder being created.

For weeks I have been puzzled by new Temporary Internet Files,Cookies and History folders constantly reappearing in my Windows XP Local Settings/Temp folder.
My normal TIF etc folders are still functioning normally in Local Settings. So no harm is being done but it's been annoying the hell out of me.
Today, quite by chance, I've discovered that the culprit is Adobe Reader X. 10.1.2. The act of simply opening Reader immediately creates these TIF folders within my temp folder.
I say immediately but it does take about 15 seconds after Reader opens on the screen before the TIF folders appear in the temp folder.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can go about resolving it?
    Many thanks.

While it is recommended to define your External Application URL via SSL (if possible), due to the requirement for the credentials to be posted from the client, the interim page has to be in the clear in order to post the values to the external server (the communication here will be encrypted via SSL). Short of turning off local caching of documents (not really a solution) there is no immediate solution, as even setting a "no-cache" directive on the page will not guarantee that it will not be cached (browsers do not always honour this!).
Never the less, if you are actually finding this to be an issue please log an enhancement request with Oracle Support. As there a significant period between posts I would be interested to know if people have actually run into this directly.

  • How can I get Full PDF file in temporary Internet Files folder when a PDF is opened in IE?

when a URL displaying a PDF file(http://www.google.com/Test.pdf) in internet explorer is done, the PDF file is opened in Microsoft internet explorer itself. But I observe one thing. i.e., If the PDF file is created with acrobat distiller the the PDF file opened on IE is fully obtained in Temporary Internet files, and if the PDF file is created with other than acrobat distiller(i.e., created using other PDF tools), then if the same file, then only a part of PDF(10KB-50KB) is obtained in Temporary internet files folder, and remaining is obtained by Acrxxxx.tmp in C:\Documents and Settings\Current UserName\Local Settings\temp folder. why this is happening?
consider the total size of file as 1.5MB.
In my PC, I had Adobe reader 8.1 and IE6.

Yes, I was seeing the difference between PDFs that are linearized. I had unchecked that option, still I can't get the Full PDF in temporary Internet files folder.
Are there any more settings to be changed.
Why only for some files this is happening, What was the difference b/w the files which are fully obtained in temporary internet files folder and that are of not fully obtained.
