Why can't I disable the Passcode Lock on my iPhone?

My phone just recently requested a passcode for no reason that I can tell and now I can't shut it off. I went into the general section where you are supposed to be able to turn it off but the option is "grayed" out so I can't choose it. HELP!!!

Typically this happens when a corporate Exchange account is added to the iPhone and the corporation requires a passcode to protect access to their system.

Why can I not disable the guest user in the 10.8.2 update? I have never enabled the guest user, but after the update, it was automatically enabled with a "managed" tag. It is not selectable even after entering my admin password to unlock the options. I was able to select the account under "parental controls", but again, could not delete it. Why Apple? Why?!!????

SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.

Why can't I have the Facetime App on my iPhone?

    Very Vague question.
Why do you think that you cannot?
Tap contacts, pick the contact you want to call, scroll down to the facetime button.
    What is your issue?

  • Why can't I see the iTunes store on my iPhone 5c?

Why can't I see the iTunes store on my iPhone 5c?

Well then it is somewhere on one of your Home pages or in a Folder:
Do a spotlight search to see if it accidently got moved into a Folder: Swipe down in the center of the screen to bring up the Spotlight search and type in iTunes. If it is in a folder, the folder name will show up to the right.
If it is not in a folder, but shows up on the Spotlight search, then you need to look at each Home screen to see if you can find where it got moved to.
Finally, you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout, which will reorganize all of your icons so that the original Apple core apps are on the first Home screen as they were originally. Of course, if you have a lot of app icons that you have set up on specific Home screens you would have to move them all back to where you wanted them. But that should put the iTunes icon back on the first Home screen.

  • How can you disable the passcode lock

I thought I might like the pass code lock activated and I did do that, but now I wish to de-activate it and when I went in and turned off the passcode, and shut the down and turned it back on, it did not work,,my phone is an unlocked phone,,did I just turn it from and unlocked phone to a locked phone permently,,confussed!

Settings/general/passcode lock then enter passcode and then tap turn passcode off  The fact that your phone is unlocked is not relevant.  IF you do what I said and don't turn the phone off as you have done it should work

  • Why can't I disable the "Tap to Talk" feature?

This is the most inane feature I could possibly imagine...the whole point of texting is so that you DON'T HAVE TO SPEAK to the person...!?!?!?!
If you're going to send an audio message to someone, maybe they might send one back, and so on, and so on, and...why not just use that other feature in your iPhone....THE PHONE!!!???
I've already disabled the raise to talk aspect of it but it's so annoying I just want it to go away. Has anyone figured out how to do this yet?

Thanks Meg, and you're right, but it's clearly triggering one of my OCD pathways, simply because I just don't understand why it's there in the first place.
Maybe that's the real question I'm asking.
If I don't want to drive, I'll take the train. One day, my train gets upgraded with an option for me to drive it. Ok, maybe that might be fun once or twice, but at some point, I'm doing the very thing I set out not to do in the first place....drive!
What is the purpose of this feature?

Base on your original question, why not use emails instead if all you want to do is write.

  • Why can't I open the apple store on my iPhone

First let me say this is a phone I got sent from Apple.
The issue I have is when using my extension cable once fully charged my phone says charging is not supported with this accessory.
Next issue I have is I can't log into the App Store on my phone. I click sign in put in my apple id and it does not show me as logged in.
Last issue I have is I have deleted and installed the Apple Store App and it tells me goto settings and use iTunes & App Store menu.
Oh and when I update my apps on the phone I still have to click the update apps when I connect phone to iTunes.
Any help trying to fix these issues would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why can't I disable the very annoying "GMT" that automatically adds itself to my calendar?

When I schedule an appointment in my calendar, I will manually set the time zone for Boston, USA. I have also set this as my default time zone.
But the software keeps taking it upon itself to change it to GMT.  It makes it very distracting and annoying to me. I want it how I want it.
Is there something I am missing about how to stop it?

Apple is becoming more like microsoft every day.  I was just told iOS 7 now takes up 3 GB of space and the built in apps another 700 MB.  I can't believe it Perhaps this drafts issue is intentional?  Apparently all this spying is even more easily done on drafts than sent emails.  Plus if you were encrypting inside your email program after you write the message this would be saving a plain text to a third party server.  Suspicious "glitch" to say the least.
. *EDIT*: And they sensor posts that call them out on their shoddy products.

  • Why can't i hear the other party on my iphone?

I managed to solve this problem.
Here's how I arrived at the solution:
This morning I could hear the other party fine.
This afternoon I could not hear, except by using the speakerphone.
    How could this be?
What had I done "wrong" between the morning and afternoon?
It turns out, I had downloaded a new app (wi-drive) and updated another (Google Translate)
So I just deleted those two apps.
Lo and behold, I could hear the other person.
My advice: if you can't hear the other person, just try deleting the last apps you downloaded before the problem started.
It might just work, as it did for me.
    good luck

  • HT1222 Why can't I download the new software on my iPhone

Ive tried to do it on my lap top and my phone and it won't go I know why it won't on my lap top but idk why it won't go on my phone only reason I could think of why it won't work is I don't have a sim card

I'm guessing because the servers or part of the network is still overloaded by millions of other trying to do the same.
Some seem to think this helped:
Adding Open DNS servers to network preferences (2012) - https://discussions.apple.com/message/17806286

  • Why can't I install the netflix app to my iPhone

I can't install any apps to my iPhone

Can you find the App Store app on the phone ? If not then that implies that the store is hidden by restrictions, and if it is then it will also stop you installing apps from your computer.
If she can't remember her restrictions code then was it on the phone when it was last backed up ? If it wasn't then you can restore to that backup and it should be removed.
If it was on the phone when it was last backed up then the only way to remove the code is to reset the phone back to factory defaults (e.g. your mum could log into her account on http://www.icloud.com and send a remote wipe message to it) and you can then re-sync content back to the phone - you won't be able to restore to the backup as that will restore/keep the restrictions code in place. Prior to resetting the phone copy any purchases over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option, and copy any important documents, photos off it.
