Why can't I get a Mac created/iPad edited Pages document to appear in iTunes when using "send to iTunes" command in Pages on my iPad

This morning I updated to iTunes 10.4. and also updated Pages on my MacBook (SL 10.6.8)  to version 4.1. My iDevices are all recognized in iTunes and all is going fine except for this one thing. I created a Pages document on my Mac and I sent it to my iPad using file sharing with iTunes. I edited and finished the document on the iPad and then used the "send to iTunes" feature and prepared to sync back to my Mac. The document appears to transfer over - and I have tried sending it over again and again - but it never appears in the file sharing Pages documents window after I sync. When I try to send it from the iPad again, the device tells me that the document already exists and asks if I want to replace it, so it must be transferring somehow but I don't see it in the window.
This only started after I updated both applications. I've been using Pages and file sharing without any issues at all until now. The really ironic thing is that I can create a Word document on my Mac, send it to the iPad, edit it there and send it back to iTunes and it appears in the window like you would expect - but my Pages documents do not. Word documents work fine but not Pages documents? Documents created on the iPad seem to be going back and forth fine but not Mac created files.
I've tried everything I can think of, restarting disconnecting the iPad reconnecting the iPad, hard reset .... Any ideas? Is there something that I am missing? Anybody else experience this?

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

Why can't I get the Mac to accept a dvd to play which it did yesterday evening?

    Hi a brody,
It's pretty well documented. Here's a Wikipedia article on the topic. Tons of other links to follow.
The drives themselves weren't damaged (by trying to do something like write to the drive's firmware), but the rootkit was installed on any computer you put a loaded disk in.
I had a couple of legally purchased CDs from that era, and they never played right. They would skip, stall and even spontaneously eject. And this was in various music CD players (home player, car), which the rootkit wasn't supposed to affect.

  • Why can't I get my printer to print out a playlist from i-tunes? It used to work but now my printer doesn't seem to receive the "print" command.

Why can't I get my printer to print out a playlist from i-tunes? It used to work, but now the printer doesn't seem to recognize the "print" command coming from i-tunes. The printer works for other applications!

I  finally solved this problem after toiling with it for a couple of  days.  Solution:  Once you have  burned your CD you must go back into  iTunes to your music/playlists and select the playlist you just burned  and click file; print and you will  get the mosaics that we have been  accustomed to.  I was on hold with  Apple Support when I found this  myself.  Yes......!!! Problem solved..for me anyway.  Good luck!

  • Why can't I get my Mac to like the LDAP server?

On Monday I started hammering away at getting the LDAP server setup on the Linux server with openldap. I was able to get a test Mac running Leopard to see the LDAP server and the accounts. The next battle was to get home directories to mount under /home. I was about to do that after finding a working ldif example using automaster and autohome. After that I was able to get the Public share automatically mounted on /Network/Public. Wonderful!
Tuesday I came in thinking that the next battle would be with Samba. Unfortunately, somewhere in powering off the Mac and rebooting it, I lost all the share mounting! It still sees the accounts, but it absolutely will not see the mounts. In trying to figure it out I have wiped the LDAP database and restarted it, I have wiped the test Mac twice, I have made sure the Mac is running the latest updates, and still nothing.
If I go into dscl this is now what I see:
    ls Automount/
    Record Name Unknown
    Record Name Unknown
    ls AutomountMap/
    Record Name Unknown
    Record Name Unknown
    cat Mounts/10.110.1.1:\/share\/public/
    dsAttrTypeNative:cn: 10.110.1.1:/share/public
    dsAttrTypeNative:objectClass: mount top
    AppleMetaNodeLocation: /LDAPv3/10.110.1.1
    RecordName: 10.110.1.1:/share/public
    RecordType: dsRecTypeStandard:Mounts
On the LDAP server, the records look like:
    mountDirectory: /Network/Public
    objectClass: mount
    objectClass: top
    mountType: nfs
    cn: 10.110.1.1:/share/public
It looks like for some reason it's either missing entries from the LDAP server, and/or it's ignoring some of the mapping and leaving them out. The Mounts entry is missing the VFSLinkDir which maps to mountDirectory. The Automount stuff is missing the RecordName which maps to automountKey and automountMapName.
What the heck happened? Why does the Mac refuse to see the LDAP server the way it did on Monday?

I am having something similar going on and can't sort out what it is doing:
    ldiffs:
    dn: automountMapName=auto_master,dc=example,dc=edu
    objectClass: top
    objectClass: automountMap

    dn: automountKey=/foo,automountMapName=auto_master,ou=Mounts,dc=soe,dc=ucsc,

    objectClass: automount
    automountKey: /foo
    automountInformation: auto.foo,dc=example,dc=edu -rw,resvport,

    Second one:

It seems like it can't find the trigger point tstaff. It is looking for:

which isn't what the DN is in ldap:
    Distinguished Name: automountKey=tstaff,automountMapName=auto.foo,dc=example,dc=edu
    any thoughts?

  • HT4150 Why can't I get the Mac OS X v10.6.4 update to download?

    I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Yes, I know I am very behind the times . . .
The download starts, but quits after a few seconds and I get a "not recognized" message when I try to open it.
    Thanks.

Are you doing a Software Update or downloading directly from Apple?
If Software Update, instead download the combo 10.6.8 update from here. Use Disk Utility (on your hard drive in application/utilities)  to repair permissions, then apply the combo update, and when done, repair permissions again. You'll be at 10.6.8 at that point.

  • Why can't I get the slider on the right side to remain active ?

Why can't I get the slider on the right side to remain "active" ?
I'm using iTunes 11.4 on a Mac Pro with OS 10.9.5
In good old iTunes 10.7  there was a slider on the right side that you can move up and down to locate songs.   That same slider is there, (but much smaller), with iTunes 11.4, but it seems to deactivate itself for reasons I do not understand.
I have found that when I go to the lower right corner and resize the iTunes window the slider will appear briefly.   If I don't act very fast, that slider vanishes and I cannot scroll up and down.
    Thanks !!

  • Why can't I get Back To My Mac to work in both directions between my 2011 Mac Book Air and my 2012 Mac Mini?

Why can't I get Back To My Mac to work in both directions between my 2011 Mac Book Air and my 2012 Mac Mini? The network uses a Time Capsule. Everything works when connecting from the Mini to the Air, but the reverse is not the case, none of the Mini's drives are visible, and the screen sharing option is not available. I've tried the measures already suggested in online articles, everything seems to be configured correctly using my iCloud account. I'm at a loss, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've now managed to get the service running in both directions, but not in the way I had anticipated. I had to create a second account on the Mac Book Air, this also has administrator privilages, everything works fine when connecting from this acccount. However, this is not the way I would expect to work, none of my documents, applications and settings would be available, unless I laboriously duplicated them to the new account.
Also, I've yet to get the service running from outside my home network.

I have a new macbook pro and an LG w2361v monitor.  The max resolution the mac is allowing me to set is 1400x1050, why can't I get to the max resolution the monitor can accept (1900x1080)?  I know that the monitor is able to accept this resolution but It can't seem to find it.  Is it something to do with the new thunderbolt port? or the fact that I'm utilizing the VGA adaptor?  I could go HDMI if that works better.

    Use DVI or HDMI.
VGA runs out of steam after a while.

  • Why can't I get the App "Deskconnect" on my Ipad 3.  It claims to be compatible with Ipad as well as Mac and Iphone?

Why can't I get the App "DeskConnect" on my Ipad 3.  It claims to be compatible with Ipad, Iphone and Mac.  I was able to download onto Mac and Iphone but it is not recognized for Ipad?

I liked the idea of this app so I went looking for it and have now installed it on my Mac, iPhone and finally my iPad.
This app, although it will run on the iPad is actually an iPhone/iPod app, as suggested above. So the only way to get it on my iPad was to search for it as an iPhone app in the App Store app on my iPad. Then it came up as an app that I could install on the iPad.

A thousand thanks and kudos to Michael for this fabulously excellent thread!
Eudora's now happy in her new Snow Leopard VM home on my Lion ModBook!
Appears essential to keep resource-forked data off Lion disk:
First attempt with Eudora on SL VM was sharing data on Lion disk. Error messages on open like "can't find Table of Contents" suggest Lion ate resource forks crucial to Eudora.
Found success by transferring data from SL Mac to thumb drive, then mounted drive in SL VM so Lion couldn't touch.
While Michael warns against storing data in VM, appears there's no choice with Eudora. At least She's enthroned on a mirrored RAID.
There is Nothing like Eudora! (to tune of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" from South Pacific -- Oops! my gray hair is showing!)
(It's amazing Parallels can force Lion to store taboo resource forks. Thank God for code warriors!)
