Why can't I get Back To My Mac to work in both directions between my 2011 Mac Book Air and my 2012 Mac Mini? The network uses a Time Capsule. Everything works when connecting from the Mini to the Air, but the reverse is not the case, none of the Mini's drives are visible, and the screen sharing option is not available. I've tried the measures already suggested in online articles, everything seems to be configured correctly using my iCloud account. I'm at a loss, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've now managed to get the service running in both directions, but not in the way I had anticipated. I had to create a second account on the Mac Book Air, this also has administrator privilages, everything works fine when connecting from this acccount. However, this is not the way I would expect to work, none of my documents, applications and settings would be available, unless I laboriously duplicated them to the new account.
Also, I've yet to get the service running from outside my home network.

    Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

    Have you tried quitting Pages completely, restart the iPad and then go back to Pages and see if they will upload?
    Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

    I liked the idea of this app so I went looking for it and have now installed it on my Mac, iPhone and finally my iPad.
    This app, although it will run on the iPad is actually an iPhone/iPod app, as suggested above. So the only way to get it on my iPad was to search for it as an iPhone app in the App Store app on my iPad. Then it came up as an app that I could install on the iPad.

    The Home button isn't working
    Put the iPhone to sleep.
    Wait a couple of seconds.
    Press the Home button.

  • Why can't I get TC or Airport Extreme to work in my house?

    I   am very mad at myself for buying a TC in April and now the new one is out!!  I had issues with connectivity with my Airport Extreme and purchased a TC in April thinking that the APE was on the way out and now the TC is doing the same thing....help!!
    I live in an old house with lathe and plaster walls.  The TC is in a closet on the stairwell that is central to the main floor.  We have about 75Mbps download from Comcast but the wireless was getting flaky.  Our iPads, and phones would just loose connectivity and a speedtest.com test would show maybe 6Mbps when we had the APE so we figured the answer was a new router.  After we started seeing some of the same issues with the new TC, I have changed our set up to using the TC as the base station and have the APE (old one) set up in the livingroom as an extention. 
    I am still not sure this is the best way to run this and am really mad that Apple upgraded just after I purchased the TC. Should I just sell the TC and get the new version with hopes that the new antena will help my problem?? 
    BTW, I work for IBM from home so I really need the internet to work to the max in order to get my job done.

    It is the nature of technology.. whenever you buy you are going to be caught by the next wave of products.. let yourself off.. Apple are the most secretive company in the world. Although I was telling people to wait for a fair while before the announcement.

    The heavier the materials and the higher the moisture content the worse wireless. Older houses often have water problems..
    There is no certainty the new AC model will fix your problems.. and certainly not without AC clients.
    If you have a 75Mbps connection my first test would be ethernet to the TC and test if you can get that.. wireless turned off on the computer and no other clients turned on. Make sure the TC is actually routing at full speed.. people have found the TC can be slow.
    If the ethernet test fails, replace the TC with another brand router.. eg Asus or Netgear.. ones that take 3rd party firmware are my favourites..
    Relegate the TC to backup duties in the local lan by bridging it to the router.
    If ethernet is fine and wireless fails to connect fast enough.. do a proper wireless survey in your home.. use a wireless analysis software.. I don't know the paid one for Mac but istumber is ok.. inssider on pc is really good.
    A full spectrum analysis would be even better but that requires more specialised stuff. But turn off everything you own that is wireless.. cordless phones, av senders, door bells, baby monitors, and the zillion other things that use unlicensed bands.
    Do a full reset of the TC and set names, short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric for both 2.4 and 5ghz bands.. different names.. and set fixed channels and test each in turn.. non-overlapping at 2.4ghz, 1, 6, 11
    For 5ghz down low, 36-40 and one of the high channels is enough.. 150 or greater.
    If you own the house and you do work from home.. run ethernet.. and claim it on tax as business expense..
    Anybody running business should run ethernet.
    Wireless is for toys and hobbies .. the reliability of wireless is really not up to business standards. At least IMHO.. !!
    If the business run wireless.. it comes with products that have the big C on them and cost thousands of dollars. Ask at your local Apple store what brand wireless equipment they run.. it aint apple.

I called twice and was told they would put it back, After 10 days , I called a 3rd time and was told I would either have to take a credit to my account or wait 4 weeks to get my money back on my credit card. It only takes a minute to take it so, why should it take 4 weeks to get it back? And why was I lied to twice when the agent said it would be taken care of immediately?????

    It seems like it can be taken care of immediately by a bill credit. A bill credit does not put the money back on your credit card but takes it off your bill. To me it's the same. So if you have a $100 credit on your bill you have $100 that you pay back to your credit card rather than to Verizon. If you want anything else the request must be submitted through the fiancé department and has to then be researched and approved before being paid. I would say take the bill credit. You're still getting your money back.

    I just activated my iPhone 4 (Verizon) today and was downloading free apps w/o problem until a few hours ago when I could no longer gain access to the App Store.
    When I click on the App Store it just gives me a "loading" message but nothing comes up.
    Have Net access via wireless and 3g. Can do searches w/Safari and can get into the iTunes store, but not the App Store.
    Is the App Store "down" or is there something I can do to "fix" this problem?

    Update: Well, it looks like I have more problems than just the App Store. Now, I can't bring up the Settings page (it's blank). Phone still works but other functions like Maps and Weather also come up blank.
    Any way to reset w/o the Settings page? Help!

    The downloads folder does not save files when they are downloaded.
    problem particularlly with binary files e.g. adobe reader 10
    NIS has been deactivated and problem persists.
    Initially downloads are canceled. When retry option is selected file downloads in window but sub directory shows file while downloading and then it is deleted

  • Why can't I get AVCHD to look as good in FCP7 as direct output from camera

    I've been comparing my Sony HDR-SR12 footage and noticed a problem after import with FCP and other Mac apps.
    Quality issue:
    items in motion not as clear/smooth in FCP and subsequet exports as it is directly from to monitor OR files opened in Windows with media player. It is not very noticable until you project it on a 100 screen or play in full screen on an imac.
    it is most noticable with scenic landscape pans..even slowly.  Items moving across screen have a slightly strobed or choppy/blur effect that make it difficult to focus on them. Again.. NOT a problem directly from camcorder to projector/montior or playback on Windows media player, so it's not the camera file.
    exporting to quicktime doesn't help, so it is not likely a processor/disk speed issue on playback.
    Sony file spec:  AVCHD 1440X108060i 29.97fps
    Camera output- mini HDMI-(monitor), USB(file transfer).
    What I have tried.
    OS 10.6.8 with FCP7- import AVCHD files with pro res 422 codec. Timeline auto prompt switched to proper setting. Still no improvement- I then changed setting for lower/upper field, etc. No difference.
    iSkysoft AVCHD/MTS converter- playback in quick time- still no improvement.
    Booted in Windows- converted AVCHD files to WMV- inital trial not any better, plus other resolution/qaulity issues.
    I have an iMac 2.8Ghz intel core i7, 8gig ram and 7200speed internal HD.
    Anybody out there have similar problems?

    Final Cut Pro shows you a proxy image. To see the real deal you need a 3rd party card/external box feeding a broadcast monitor.
    If viewing using the Quicktime player, make sure you use the QT7 version. QTX is not ready for primetime.
    Also, open up the QT 7 preferences and make sure you have "Use high-quality video setting when available" checked.
