Why can't I get my contacts to move to my new iphone

I am having trouble with moving all of my contacts to my new iPhone. I am hardwiring the IP5 to my MBA using iTunes and checked the correct box. I moved all of my checked music and bookmarks but no contacts. Is there something I'm overlooking?

The answer to the iCloud question is no. I do not sync to iCloud because I use my phone for business and my iPad for pleasure. I only sync my phone through my MBA so I can control my sync'd files so that I don't have a lot of personal junk on my phone. My music transfered and my essential bookmarks but nothing else.
The second question is that I do not use Exchange.

Not an AppleTV problem as such.
Many app developers seem to block video airplay of content that you can watch in an app.
I can only assume this has something to do with rights issues for the movie/show.

Do you get a send error message or a red "!" when you send? Do you have a data plan on your account? Check that your carrier has you provisioned for MMS.

We don't know how to answer because we don't know what you are doing.
I can tell you that you cannot connect the two devices together to transfer content. And videos do not work in Photo Stream, but it does work for photos. However, you can only stream photos to the device after you have enabled photo stream on the iPad. Any photos that were already on the phone - before you turned on Photo Stream -will not sync to the iPad.

Are you logged in with the same account that was used to activate the phone ? If you are, and the apps aren't showing as free, then try logging out of your account by tapping on it at the botto of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if they then show as free.

My purchased song from itunes is on a laptop at work and I can not get it to transfer to my IPhone. The laptop is a shared computer but my job is coming to an end and I would like to recover the purchased songs and delete everyhting before I leave.
Any other ideas on have to move the purchased songs from the laptop?

I assume that you mean that you do have an iPhone because messages will not work with any other type of cell phone. You should be able to add your phone number in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at, if your phone number is lited in there, select it and then uncheck your email address and then the iPad will be using the phone number just like the iPhone.
If you phone number is not listed in there, you probably have to sign out/turn off Messages on the phone and the iPad and then start over again on the phone - and then your phone number should be accessible to use on the iPad.

Every time I sync my phone (with iTunes) I get an error message that the Outlook sync client has stopped working. My Outlook freezes up and I have to restart it once sync is complete. And I can't get my contacts to sync with Outlook at all. Any ideas??

If you need a more specific response you will need to provide a lot more information, including exact error messages. Given the provided information one possible cause might be you don't have your computer turned on.

Why can't I get the device folder when I connect my iPhone to PC via USB?

iPhone is designed not to be able to transfer content that way. You can import photos and videos ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083 ) but there are limits/restrictions. For example, you can sync music that you downloaded from the internet to the iPhone, but not transfer it back to a computer. This has everything to do with music rights/legal stuff, you can only transfer purchased items from the phone to a computer using iTunes.

Why can't I get my pre order to download on my iphone?

I downloaded some pre ordered music to my mac this morning but I cannot get the music to show up in my purchased items on my iphone so I can download it there also. I'm at work and cannot sync my phone with my work computer so I would like to redownload the music directly to my iphone. The account is the same so why can't I see the music in recent purchases? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, got it working!
My process was pretty straightforward (of course, everything is, in hindsight):
(1) Go to my user library folder
(2) Do a spotlight search for the word "mail"
(3) Delete something that looks like it might be related to/possibly interfering with Mail's operation
(4) Try Mail
I repeated the above process a couple of times and poof, Mail started to add my accounts! First, my Gmail account, and then, after disabling and re-enabling my iCloud account inside System Preferences > iCloud, my iCloud account too!
The file I believe was the lynchpin was located here:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail
Give that a shot if you can't get your iCloud/Gmail email to show up in Apple Mail 7.1 (1827) under OS X 10.9.1, despite the accounts seemingly adding succesfully in System Preferences.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This may delete mail you have stored locally, so please do not attempt if you store your email locally (i.e. POP email setups). I think for IMAP setups (e.g. iCloud & Gmail) this is just deleting the cached versions of the emails, so they'll just get rebuilt once the email is downloaded from the server again.

Why did you pay $23.00 for the FREE Reader? Someone ripped you off. Reader has nothing to do with editing PDFs, but is simply a Reader (or in MS terms a Viewer). If you have OFFICE 2013, you can open PDFs in WORD, but I don't know how well it works (everytime I have seen MS implement some such conversion, they screw it up).

Why can't I get a purchased 1080p movie to stream to my Apple TV?

I purchased Prometheus last night from the iTunes Store and have my settings so that I download the 1080p version vs. the 720p (you are allowed to download all three resolutions when you purchase). It's the first full 1080p movie I have purchased from iTunes. I have a private network set up in my room specifically for streaming movies from my iMac to my Apple TV (ethernet to router, Apple TV connects to said router). This setup has worked for all movies purchased in standard definition and even for some 720 rips i made myself with no problems. I click Prometheus on the Apple TV and I get the loading ring that never goes away and the movie never starts. My guess is that it is because of it's substantial size, though, it's not much larger than some of my 720p rips. Since my network is not connected to the internet,a nd speed of the wireless router may be a factor, how can I test this speed? Or if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can play this movie that I purchased, your help is appreciated.

When I have finished using any application, text, what's app, contacts just about any thine I cannot get back to any other screen as it is frozen. What do I do as my home button will not work either?
