Why can't I get Outlook for Mac connected to Network?

I have a friend who recently bought a MacBook Pro after having a pc forever. She had Apple migrate all her data over to the MacBook Pro. We then installed Office for Mac 2011. Her preference was/is to use Outlook for her emal. This only became known to me after I got her email set up and working in Mail. I then proceeded to set up Outlook with the exact same settings that I successfully used for Mail, i.e., incoming and outdgoing servers, ports, SSL, authentication (name and password), etc. There was a brief time when it was up and running, but inexplicably, this is no longer the case. The error message I get continues to point to authentication and her ISP's denial of services. Has anyone else had this problem? I've heard Microsoft's Outlook can be finicky.Any help would be appreciated.

I guess I was hoping that I might find other Mac users who have Office for Mac 2011, encountered the same issue, and had something to offer by way of a solution.
But I will also take your suggestion and post on the forum link you provided.
Thanks, btw, for the link.

I am having trouble getting mail from the shaw server that my new iMac is connected to. I have to reboot the system to get Outlook for Mac to access the system and obtain new messages. Any ideas? Its at the point where I have started using the PC again as its less trouble.......

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />
See "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in "Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection"<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

  • How can I get Outlook for Mac Calendar synced to Google Calendar?

The Mac calendar produces a view of the Outlook calendar and good syncing. But I cannot find a way of syncing this view with Google calendar. I can get a separate view in Mac Callendar of mt Google calendar adn again good syncing. But I cannot get the Outlook view on Mac calendar across to the google view. What am I missing here?

Dear Klaus, Many thanks for your response. However as far as I can see the Outlook in this thread is always on a Windows PC. My Outlook is on the Mac.
I can sync to Mac Calendar V6 with Outlook 2011 for Mac and with Google calendar. But the Google sync and the Outlook sync are in diferent accounts although both visible on the Mac Calendar at the same time. However I cannot find a way of using the Mac Calendar to bidge across from the "On my Mac" account (which is synced with the Outlook for Mac) to the Google account.
    Kind regards, P.

  • How can I synchronize my Outlook for Mac 2011 contacts with iCloud?

Don't works synchronize my outlook for mac 2011 contacts with iCloud. Someone can help me please?

Outlook 2011 for Mac is not compatible with iCloud Contacts &amp; Calendars because Microsoft do not support the industry standard CardDAV and CalDAV protocols that iCloud uses.

  • Can I synch my Outlook for Mac 2011 calendars and contacts with my iPhone calendars and contacts?

I have Outlook for Mac 2011 and also use OSx Mountain Lion on my iMac.  I want to synch my Calendar and Contacts from Outlook with my iOS devices (iPhone 5 and iPad).  How can I do this so I don't have two calendars and two contacts that don't sync with each other?

if you don't have a online account that outlook is syncing the calendar with you can't sync it with anything else.
Just because you enter a appointment, or something, in the outlook calendar that does not auto sync it with other devices unless you have it setup to sync the local, on computer, calendar with a online account of some type. That could be outlook.com or office365 or google or even apple icloud. Once you setup a online account of some type to sync the local calendar with then you can sync that account calendar with orher devices.
This is what the other poster was trying to say but did not fully explain with the mention of icloud.

I have Mountain Lion (10x) not Lion.  When I go to Sync Services in the Outlook preferences - there is no Calender there to link to.  Is this because MS no longer supports Mountain Lion?  Is there any other way to sync to iCal?

Why can't I get a connection further than about 15-20 ft with my iPad2?

    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.

  • Getting Outlook (for Mac 2011) contacts to iPhone 4S with Mountain Lion installed

I installed Mountain Lion only to find out I can no longer get contacts to my iPhone. ML doesn't support Sync Services so I can't go through Mac's Address Book. I can't get Outlook contacts directly to iCloud. For some reason I can't even do it through iTunes either (with all iCloud disabled). Now I have a phone with NO contacts on it!

Install the latest Service Pack for Outlook.  Then go into Outlook under Tools and Sync Services and put in a checkmark for Contacts.  This will sync your contacts from Outlook into the Address Book.  Once that happens, iTunes (latest version) can sync that info over to your phone if you pick sync contacts in iTunes.
This is how I did it.  I can sync everything except Notes this way.  Apple ***** a little bit in this regard.

  • Why can't I get refunded for a song I accidentally downloaded twice?

I just got an iphone today, and I am starting to learn how to use it.
I was downloading some songs, and I realized I downloaded a song twice.
I go on the itunes website, and I see that all sales are final!
Is there any way I can get refunded for that one song?
I know it is not much, but something inside of me doesn't feel right.
If not, then please state a logical reason as to why.

    Try this link:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2788282?start=0&tstart=0
Report it using the iTunes Customer Service web page.
In the "Specific Request" menu, choose "I accidentally bought..." and explain the situation in the box below that.

  • Can't send in Outlook for mac 2011

I installed MS office for mac (2011). Everything is OK except sending email via the outlook client.
My email address is from outlook.com. It would not work with my Mail client, so I installed Outlook. It receives OK, but will not send.
Presumably it is something to do with the IMAP address i put in the boxes.  Can anyone help? I am a basic computer user, not a techie, so if you have any advice please bear that in mind.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You should post your question on Microsoft's Mac forums since it's their software you're having issues with

  • Why can't I get signal for Ipad 50 feet away in upstairs

I have a new airport extreme wireless router.  signal is just ok in next about 30 feet awy almost line of sight.  Cannot get wifi in upstair bedroom about 50 feet away.  How can I make signal better or stronger.

    Hi bcircus,
Below is the setup guide for your Airport Extreme
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/airport_extreme_5th_gen_setup.pdf
The article below outlines the optimal wireless settings:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
If your signal is weak in another part of your home, you may need to extend the network with an Airport Express:
Extend an existing Wi-Fi network’s range.
If you already have a wireless network in your home and want to extend its range, AirPort Express can help. Just place it in range of your primary base station — an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, or another AirPort Express — and near the area where you want your wireless connection. Launch the easy-to-use AirPort Utility app on your iOS device or Mac, and you’re mere minutes away from long-range Wi-Fi enjoyment.
    Cheers,
    Judy

  • Why can't I get swiftkey for my iphone 4s?

I love my phone but not so much the keyboard.
I would really love to use swiftkey but it seems that Apple doesn't allow 3rd party keyboards?
    Is this true?
    Is it likely to change?
Any alternatives or advice very welcome.

You are correct, it is not available for the iPhone. You can make suggestions to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html. This is their feedback page for users to make suggestions.
