Why can't i get overdrive audio books onto my ipod

why can't i get overdrive audio books onto my ipod

Some find the mobile device transfer confusing.  To load or delete a WMA or MP3 book onto an Apple mobile device do the following.
1. For Windows versions, you must first do a security update of Windows Media Player (even though you won't be using it) using Internet Explorer at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite .
2.  Open iTunes, plug the mobile device into the computer USB port and open the Overdrive Media Console.
3. Highlight the mobile device in the left hand menu of iTunes and insure the "Manually manage music and videos" box is checked in the Summary Tab.
4. Highlight the book you want to transfer in the Overdrive Media Console and click the Transfer Button.   A window opens permitting you to click the boxes for parts of the book you wish to transfer.
5. After the book has been transfered, when you click the disclosure triangle (arrow) to the left of the iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes, MP3 books will show up under the Music subsection and WMA books will show up in the Books subsection.  Once the mobile device is disconnected from iTunes, MP3 books will show up in the Songs list of the mobile device and WMA books will show up in the Books list.
6. To remove a book from a mobile device plug the device into the USB port and open iTunes. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes so that you can see the device’s subcontents. For an MP3 book select the Music subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.  For a WMA book, select the Book subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.

Trying to get a audio book onto my ipod, doesn't seem to want to download

    Heather,
Can you first verify that you have configured the iPod to sync audiobooks from your iTunes library?  To do this, plug the iPod into your computer, and then when it appears in iTunes, select it from under Devices in the left hand pane.  This shoud bring you to the iPod's Summary tab.
Now in the main section/window of iTunes look for the Books tab along the top and click on it.  Under this tab you can configure how and what audiobooks are synced to your device.  Before making any changes, first verify that the Sync Audiobooks option is ticked at the very top.
If you do make any changes from under this tab, be sure to click the Apply button in the lower right to sync the updates changes to the iPod.

  • I downloaded audio books from overdrive media and my ipod nano 6th generation showed it was transferring why can't I find the audio books on my ipod?

I downloaded audio books from overdrive media and my ipod nano 6th generation showed it was transferring and now I can't find it on my Ipod where would it be?

The problem may have been in how you transfered it.  You didn't go into much detail.  Just be sure to follow the steps in the tutorial below.  Note Paragraph 5.
Many libraries worldwide now use Overdrive Media Console, which comes in Mac an Windows versions http://www.overdrive.com/Software/omc .  Some find the mobile device transfer process confusing.  To load or delete a WMA or MP3 (Macs can only download MP3 books) audiobook onto an Apple mobile device see the "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" video in the guides at Step 7, then do the following.
If the mobile device storage is full, transfering will delete that portion of music necessary for the ebook.
    7. The Overdrive Media Console Guided Tour (videos) is at http://www.overdrive.com/Solutions/Libraries/tour/MenuWelcome.html .  The "Portable Devices" and "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" videos are there.
    8. To find a nearby library for ebooks search http://search.overdrive.com .  You can download the software, search for books and see tutorials without an account at the website of any library that uses Overdrive, however, you need a library card to download books.  At this library site, for example, the software and guided tour are at the bottom of the left hand menu.

Why can't I get all my contacts onto the iCloud?

What I used to copy my contacts from my 1st gen iPod touch to my new 5th gen iPod touch was a piece of software called Syncios.  Just download and install Syncios (www.syncios.com), which is totally 100% FREE.  When you connect your iPad to your computer via the included cable it'll give you a Warning about you can't have iTunes running.  On the Syncios website it'll give you all of the info on how to back up your contacts.  When you connect your 5th gen iPod touch to your computer just click on the Recover button then the file name of the contact back up.  Hope this helps you and it helped me a lot.  I backed up both my contacts and notes using the same software.

  • Why can't you purchase an audio book on the Itunes store from an Apple TV?

Apple seems to be moving everything they sell on Itunes to graphics, away from the traditional text based browse function they started with.
I don't think they've done the most effective job on that move on a PC/Mac, it's sometimes easier just to go through the Apple TV and buy from there and let it just sync and transfer to my Itunes library on my PC.
However, I've noticed that you can't purchase an audiobook from an Apple TV, though you can purchase everything else that can play on an Ipod from there.
Audiobooks just don't show up as an option on the Itunes store from an Apple TV, but they do play on your Apple TV if you purchase them from the Itunes store from the PC or Mac you sync or stream from.
Does anyone know if this is a licensing issue, or yet another oops/oversight on Apple's part? Doesn't seem to make sense, Apple has been pushing tighter and tighter integration between the Itunes store and Apple TV, and it's yet another lost revenue stream on Apple's part that I hope they fix.
If you can buy it from the store, you ought to be able to buy it using your apple TV. Period. Makes as much (non)sense as restricting what content you can purchase if you are buying it from an Iphone vs. a PC vs. a Mac. If you sell content on your store that plays on your devices, then sell it, regardless of which device (that you also make and sell) that your customers access your Itunes store from. It's why they make us sync everything back to Itunes on a computer in the first place.
And yes, while it may sound counter-intuitive to listen to an audio book from a device connected to a TV,
I listen to audiobooks from my Apple TV nightly in my bedroom to go to sleep by, streamed via airtunes to the Aux port on my clock radio by my bed, then turn the TV off and snooze. Works extremely well and has for years now. Beats headphones or futzing with external speakers on an Ipod or trudging upstairs to the room I have my PC in to stream an audiobook to airtunes, then back to bed. With Apple TV, it's pick, click, then turn off the tv and the lights. Sure would be nice to buy an audio book that way also.
Any thoughts on why they would restrict you from buying audiobooks from an Apple TV? To me, it's yet another lost revenue opportunity for impulse buys courtesy of Apple.

  • Why can't I get my Nook books anymore?

I can no longer open my Nook books or add new ones.  What's going on?

Start iTunes on your PC.  Connect iPad by cable. Allow any sync to finish.
Click on your device icon and in the main view area under the apple logo click on Books.  Put a tick in Sync Books, then select Selected Books.
Under the Books heading ensure Books and PDF's is selected.
Tick all the items you want to sync.  Click apply in the lower right of the page, and then sync.
It may take more than one pass to sync everything.  The ones that do not sync will be unticked - retick them, click apply and sync again until all your content is updated.
Open photos. select album tap it to get expanded view of photos, then tap on a photo to get the option bar including Edit.
If your application is not doing what it should, close out to home screen.  Double tap home button to bring up the multitasking bar, hold an App till it wiggles, then use the little '-'red in each corner to close them.  When finished and still in this view, press and hold both the on\off and home buttons down together until the Apple log appears - this is the same as a reboot and wont change anything - but it clears the ipad's ram memory and unlocks the majority of most types of freeze and improperly performing apps.  Return to the Photo application, select your album, select your picture - do you have editing bar now?
If your photo's you wish to edit are still not editable - email them to yourself. use the checkout arrow at the top of the email page when email is open to select the option to save image. It will now be in Photoroll and can be edited.
when you have finished editing - email the photo to yourself again and save it back to photoroll - make a copy and stick it in the album of choice.
In photoroll, if the original edited photo is reverted or you try to upload - it uploads the original - only saving the edited copy after emailing it yourself is the way to keep the edited copy permanent.
Sorry about the length of reply, but wanted to try and save you problems with editing later.
    Regards, Ct

  • Why can't I get find my iphone on my ipod 4th gen?

Hi there. I am trying to get find my iPhone for my iPod. It has iOS 5.1.1 and I signed it up to iCloud, but when I try to get find my iPhone, it says requires iOS 7 which is incompatible with this iPod. I need help. I don't know what to do. I have got the iWork and iLife apps perfectly because when I installed them they said 'do you want to install an older version of the app?' I said yes and they installed instantly.

    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • Not sure if this is a iCloud or Wi-fi issue. Why can't I put my new playlists onto my iPod Touch?

    Hello!
A month or so ago, I bought a new MacBook Pro for myself, an iMac for the wife, a 2TB TimeCapsule iCloud and  Music Match. The whole 9 yards. Since then, I have't been able to put new playlists onto my iPod Touch. When I plug it in and switch to the "Music" tab for the iPod, I get " iTunes Match is On. Brian's Newest iPod can access music in iCloud. Songs can be downloaded and played via Wi-Fi or a cellular network."
Well, no I can't. The reason I know this is because yesterday, I was given two brand new music CDs, which I uploaded onto the MacBook Pro. Made a new "AC/DC" playlist and everthing. And now I can't get this playlist or any new playlist onto my Pod. Looking for "AC/DC" under the "Artist" tab or "Back in Black" on my iPod does't work either.
This is Gawd-Awful annoying. I don't WANT to play everything from Wi-Fi or cellular network. (Don't need/want an iPhone-that shouldn't count again me, should it?) The whole point of buying a 32 GB iPod was because I am usually not on a network of any type during most of my day. How do I get the stinkin' music onto it?
Maybe I am missing the point of both iCloud and Music Match. I thought the second allowed me to download better versions of all the songs I have on my computers. (Was that payment a one-time thing or will I have to pony up each year, btw?) And iCloud meant that I could listen to any and all of my songs on anything with an Apple Logo on it via wi-fi. But is that the only way?
    Okay, done ranting now.
    Thanks.
    Brian

Nope, though it did allow me to get some missing songs back onto my iPod. That's something. But neither "Back in Black" or "Dirty Deeds" show up anywhere on the Touch. Could this be because iTunes has no deal with AC/DC?
Quite frankly, at this point, I'd really rather not have the "ease of use" of iCloud attached to the iPod. It's not like I change my playlists that much. It would just be nice to get what I want onto my MP3 player. Not sure which one it was: iCloud, Music Match or the Air Port but the only real result of all the $ I plunked down is seeing all of my Wife's 231 Christmas songs popping up on my laptop. Really don't want them here. She SURE AS **** is sick of seeing all of my stuff on her computer.
    Thanks again.
    B.

  • Why can't I get any audio sound on my Hi8 video capture in iMovie?

    Hi
I have just captured some video clips from my Hi8 Camcorder and exported it to iMovie on my Apple Mac. Unfortunately there is no audio sound on the captured video. Can any one help? I am using Roxio Video Capture USB to capture the video from my camcorder.
    Nazimoja

    >I am using Roxio Video Capture USB
That's the problem.  The Roxio device captures in a highly compressed, multiplexed (muxed) format that isn't intended for editing.  Muxed files won't playback audio without the proper software installed on your system.  You could try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the captured files to an editable format, but that means you'll be taking a double hit on quality.
The proper way to capture analog footage for editing is to use a  qualified "DV Device" (DV camcorder, converter or VTR) to convert the analog signal into a Firewire signal and use iMovie, FCE or FCP to capture and edit.  Or, in your case, you could use a Digital8 camcorder for playback directly via Firewire.
FWIW, this is the Final Cut Studio forum.  The iMovie forum is located here: https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/imovie?view=discussions

  • Why can't I get the audio to output over HDMI to my Panasonic TV?

It was working before I upgraded to Lion, but now it doesn't.

Yes.  It's my opinion that HDMI is simply flaky.  All that HDCP copy protection crap that is carried across the HDMI interface makes HDMI unnecessarily complex.  Greedy Hollywood execs impose their bull on a technology that isn't even exclusive to their content, and we all suffer as a result.  I've had a lot of problems with HDMI audio - I had to return my Google TV box even though I thought it was an excellent central hub for a media center because it wouldn't pass audio through properly over HDMI. It's a shame the TV manufacturers let Hollywood push them around with this junk.  As far as I can tell, all this HDCP stuff only causes problems for consumers, but doesn't deter the professsional content thieves one iota.
