I understand that I can't give a gift with the money in my account.
I want to know WHY I can't use the money I placed in an account to purchase a gift.

I have never seen an online retailer that does not have that exact same restriction.
For example, here is the statement from Amazon: "Amazon.com Gift Cards can't be used to purchase other gift cards or applied to any order containing another gift card. You'll need to provide a credit card, debit card, or other valid payment method to pay for the order if you have gift cards in your Shopping Cart. "
None of the retailers offers an explanation of why they have this policy, but it is safe to assume that drawing gifts out of an existing balance is a source of fraud.

Why can't we give away apps as a gift?

Me and my husband are in the middle of a dilema right now, our apple experience began with a MacBook Air we bought for me to work, i created the Apple account with my email. Then we bought an ipad for my husband, but he used my account to keep the devices syncronized, music, apps and stuff. Then he got an iphone, and the same thing happenend, he wanted to have everything from the other devices.
The problem comes now, we got an Iphone for me and i can't use my account because he will no longer have access to his apps, but i don't want any of them.
If my account payed for an app, is mine, so why can i make a full tranfer of the apps to his account because i won't use them. It's like a gift, my account bought it, but is going to be used only by his new account.
If you buy a music CD and you are not going to use it anymore, you can give it up as a gift to someone else and it's not breaking any copyright law.
The options we know are limited, i have to create a new account with a new e-mail, wich i don't like, and have to change everything in the devices i use, or take the account with my e-mail but my husband looses everything. We've seen some examples of transfering apps, but for updates it still needs the old account so....
Any useful idea or messages of condolences will be received.

Digital media (apps and songs) are different than physical media (CD, however contains digital media).

To "gift" someone an application, give them an App Store (or Itunes, all the same account source) gift card to buy X application.

You cannot literally "give" someone digital content, it is copied to X, and therein is the binding problem, non-transference of personal (your) apps and content.
Or, how do you give someone something that you BOTH end up having (you dont),......ergo the legal issues, etc.

There have been numerous complaints about purchased apps not being able to be downloaded due to blank screen.
WHY CAN'T APPLE PROVIDE SOME FEEDBACK????

Why can't I use a gift card from other country? :(

My friend bought me a gift card and sent it to me. I try to activate it but it say "can use only in that country"
That's mean it not activate in Thailand. Then we try to do the other way....by sent that app as a gift.
But still the same...because it was sent from other country :(
I think Apple brand is very popular for international. I would like to see it as an international thing.
By make it work or no limited for that.
Because when people want to send a good thing to their friends or family they will not worry about this point.
But still...I would to see it work soon :)

Some games are only available in particular countries, it depends upon where the rights-holder grants Apple a license to sell them (and the same thing applies to other content e.g music etc). It looks like the game is available in the Nigerian store, if I'm looking at the correct game, but the description page in the Nigerian store doesn't have the 'top in-app purchases' listed on it, so I wonder if they are available in the game in the Nigerian store

I did sign a two year contract and completed that contract. The 3gs is no longer in service. My daughter is going overseas to protect you and your family. I was attempting to find a way for her to have a reliable phone that could offer her some connection with home as she travels through the middle east. She travels in missions all over.
At&T unlocks other phones of theirs why not the iPhone? AT&T says that Apple will not give them the code, it is not the carrier. If I would have known this situation would have come up I would have bought and unlocked 3gs phone"Deggie" . My main complaint is that Apple has not good excuse as to why they will not allow their phones to be unlocked from services well, AT&T . I bought the phone full price, completed the contract terms, even went for and iPhone 4 with another2 year contract, along with owning an apple computer... I love the product. My main issue is give me a good answer as to why you won't allow a phone to be unlocked. It doesn't hurt Apple, People still have to buy the phones from them, and use their App store and iTunes.
Sorry, just upset about my daughter heading over there, boots on the ground, and just pray she will be safe. Would have liked to facetime her while she is in the airports and in specific areas allowed for that.
Please don't come down on me for asking this question. I understand all the contracts etc.... but to single out the iPhone specifically to not unlock after contract is over does not seem fair.

What happens when you try to buy something, what are you trying to buy (you can't use your balance for gifting, you can only use a credit card) ?
If this is the first time that you've tried to buy something and you are being prompted to enter card details then unless you used the instructions on this page when creating it : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store. You should be able to remove the card after entering it.

HT2736 Why can I not gift an item using gift card balance

I am trying to gift a 9.99 album to someone. I have $14.09 left on my balance form a redeemed gift card. When I try to gift the item, it tells me that Payment Information (is) Required. What gives? I don't care to tie a credit card on my iTunes account. That's why I use gift cards.
