Why can't I hide labview exe

I'm trying to spawn a labvie exe app from a visual basic app.  I use the shell command to execute the labview app.  This works fine except that I'm using the "vbhide" attribute that doesn't seem to work for the labview app (it works for other spawn programs).  I then followed some of the suggestions I found in the forums about using the front panel property and hide the window.... that kind of works but you can still see the window briefly flashing on the screen before is hidden.  I don't like that.  Has anyone run into this problem before?  Any solutions?

You can also try setting the transparency to 100% in VI properties > Window Appearance > Custom
 Good luck!

  • Why can I not hide iPhone and iPad app purchases made from my iTunes account using the Mac version of iTunes?

    I have applications on my iPhone and iPad that I don't want to show up on the family sharing menu (i.e., kid inappropriate stuff). When I follow the instructions from apple support for hiding apps, my iPhone and iPad apps cannot be "X-ed" out by hovering the mouse over the app icons in iTunes. Why can't I hide these?

    You should be able to hide them, it's just that the 'x' is invisible (I assume that it's a bug with the current version of iTunes) - click on the app's top left corner where the 'x' should be, and it should become hidden.

  • HT201322 Why can't I hide purchases in devices using iOS 6?

    I have just purchased an iPad for my brother to use whilst in hospital.  Unfortunately I don’t have enough money to buy him his own.  Want him to be able to use some of the apps and purchased movies, but not all of them.  Why can't I hide old and crappy apps on iOS 6 on the ipad, but can on my old crappy windows computer in iTunes??

    As it says on the page that you posted from it's not currently possible to do it on iOS 6 - as to why not I, I don't think that Apple have said, nor whether it's only temporary.
    If I hide an app via my computer's iTunes and close the App Store app on my iPad via the taskbar, then when I re-open the app it's also been hidden from its Purchased tab.

  • Why can't I hide the menu in Flash CS5 projector files?

    I'm making some executable / projector files in Flash CS5. Using CS4 I was able to stop the menu appearing by using flash.system.fscommand("showmenu", "false");
    It doesn't work in CS5.  Is it a bug? Or a feature?  It's incredibly annoying - how do I get rid of the menu without resorting to an external projector program or without having to use AIR?

    You can't get rid of the RH menus because [I believe] Adobe deemed it necessary to have the Flash version as well as security options and global settings in there for users at all times. At best you can minimize the listings on the right-click menu:
    var rightClickMenu:ContextMenu = new ContextMenu();
    rightClickMenu.hideBuiltInItems();
    _root.menu = rightClickMenu;
    You can also get rid of the top menu using Resource Hacker, but the right-click menu stays, even if you delete the resource from the .exe file.

  • In Quicktime 10.3, why can't I hide the playback controls? It is most annoying when giving a presentation to a large group to see the control panel appear. I just want them to see the movie. Thanks!

    How to hide playback controls?

    The problem is I don't want my audience to EVER see the playback controls, just like I don't want to see a TV station's playback controls onscreen when watching TV. Same in a movie theater. The movie should just appear and play.
    And not moving the mouse is not an option when going between a slide program and a movie program, which our presentations often if not always do.
    Is there a way to do what I want in my computer using Quicktime?
    There are no user preferences for any current version of QT X. If you must use "Full" screen mode, then start player playback before entering the "Full" screen mode and exit the "Full" screen mode before again moving the mouse to avoid seeing the controls when you do manipulate the mouse. Only other option might be to use a non-mirroring workflow strategy.
    Does Quicktime Pro have that ability?
    Yes and no. The QT 7 media player window normally displays the controls at all times. However, when keyed for "Pro" use, you can go to the "Properties" window and change the "Presentation" movie controller type to the "None Movie Controller" setting. In this setting all playing modes other than "Full" screen mode display the player with title bar above the viewing area but without side frame or controls under the display. If you are using the "Full" screen mode for your presentation, then you can open the "Preferences" window to the "Full Screen" tab and deselect display of the "full-screen controls." In both cases you will have to either use menu options to start/stop playback or double-click the display screen to start playback and single-click the display screen to stop playback manually. (NOTE: In the first instance the property setting is/can be saved to the file itself while in the second the setting is saved as a QT 7 Player preference to the player itself.)

  • Why can't I hide Toast?

    Hi,
    OK, this is beginning to drive me crazy . . I'll admit I'm a very new noobie at AS, but I think this should be easy enough for even me to figure out.
    I'm trying to get Toast to burn my DVD's in the background - ie: I don't want to see it while it's working, so I trawled the net to find some scripts. Here's what I have so far:
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
    set visible of every process whose visible is true to false
    tell application "Toast 10 Titanium"
    activate
    open thefile
    set toast_project to current disc
    add to toast_project items filetoadd
    delay 3
    write toast_project with asynchronous completion without asking
    delay 3
    tell application "System Events"
    keystroke return
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    Everything works OK, until I try to insert the:
    "tell application "Finder"
    activate
    set visible of every process whose visible is true to false"
    . . . . script into the equation. Leaving this whole line out gives me a perfect burn with very little intervention. How the heck do I integrate this "Hide Application" into my script!
    Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhh!
    Thanx (in advance).

    Bang A. Lore: We all have ways we prefer to work, and this is just mine I guess! Just a challenge to get something to work the way I want it to, and an interesting way to learn AppleScript! I felt the best way to get into AS was to find a project I wanted to develop, and work on it! Looks like I've found a gremlin!
    Red_Manace: Tried all three ways to do this, thanks so much for the suggestions -
    Red_Manace wrote:
    Does it do the same thing if the application is already launched, or if there is already another application window in front?
    Yes, I get the same brief image appear regardless if there's another application running, or I have Toast hidden in the background, or I add it to the Login Items menu. Something to do with opening a Toast project I think!
    Would the "Off Window" script work? Will have a look around the forum to see if I can find out how to script this. Then I'll post back here with an answer.
    Thanks for all your help so far - it's been very interesting (and will continue to be so for some time methinks). A great way to learn AS.

  • Why can't I hide Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01

    I don't have an SLR camera. I have an iPhone. Usually when I see RAW updates I right click them to hide the update because I don't need them.
    However when I right click and hide the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 it doesn't go away.
    I finally just bit the bullet and updated my system but what a waste of space, time, bandwidth, etc.

  • Why can't I hide my button - but I can hide my view?

    I have a view called MainView and a button connected to an outlet and method "ChangeBarButton"
    -(IBAction)ChangeBarButton:(id)sender
    [MainView setHidden:YES];
    [ChangeBarButton setHidden:(YES];
    I get an autocomplete for "setHidden", but whenever I click the button, my view disappears while the button remains. There are no errors or warnings.. any idea?
    Also, whenever I added the button to the interface, I dragged it onto my view.. so shouldn't it become a sub-view of MainView and hide with just [MainView setHidden:YES]?

    Simple mistake.. it had an event connected but the outlet wasn't. Sorry for the clutter.

  • Why can't LabVIEW 2011 find my PXI?

    I'm migrating some real-time Projects from older versions of LabVIEW (8.6 and 2010) to LabVIEW 2011.  For the older systems, I installed the appropriate Real-Time software (matching version numbers) on a PXI controller, which MAX saw just fine.  When I opened my Project, I chose a New Target and had it look for an existing Real-Time PXI -- it always found the PXI without trouble.
    I've just taken another PXI controller (8176) and installed LabVIEW 2011 RT on it.  Curiously, during the installation process, MAX identified it (and still does) as a Generic Desktop PC, and when it finds it, gives it a PC-looking icon instead of a PXI chassis icon.  When I open my Project in 2011 and try to add this PXI as a target, it finds no Real-Time PXIs.  Why is this?
    There's a VI called RT Ping Controllers that can find all the PXI controllers -- it finds my PXI, and identifies it (correctly) to me by the name I assigned it, so LabVIEW 2011 can definitely "see" this controller, even if Project (apparently) cannot.
    I'm beginning some tests involving TCP/IP (and Network Streams) with this controller and configuration.  I've had success with doing this in LabVIEW 2010, but in a (single!) test I've done with this new LabVIEW 2011 RT system, I couldn't "connect".  I haven't beaten this system enough, nor done a side-by-side comparison of equivalent code on a LabVIEW 2010 and LabVIEW 2011 system, but would appreciate it if anyone (else) has had issues (or, better, successes) with PXI-related Real-Time in LabVIEW 2011.

  • I have Labview 5.0 and I can't run a program it gives me a runrime error C++ relating to the Labview exe file. Do you know where to start to fix this?

    I've had this version for quite a long time and haven't had any problems with it. When I start Labview normally it seems to work fine I can look at individual Vi's and such but when I go to start a Vi program or even the tutorial it gives me a "Runtime error message C++
    C:\Program File\National Instruments\LabView\LabView.exe  abnmormal program termination." I'm not sure if it is a computer problem DAQ card (PCI 6023E) problem or a software glich. If you have any ideas of where to start tracking this down please let me know ASAP. It is a work stoppage situation.

  • Is there a way I can save switch settings so when I reopen a Labview exe it remembers how I set my switches?

    We are using Labview to create a exe file. However when a user reopens the exe all the user settings in the labview exe are lost. These settings are mostly switches either turned on or off. I would like to find a way so that once the switches are set each time you reopen the exe file the switches are as you left them set.
    I am very new to Labview so any help would be very much appreciated.

    I think your best bet is go to the File I/O>Configuration File VIs and create an .ini file. When you program starts, it would read the file and set the controls using local variables. Then, prior to exiting, get the control values and write them to the file. You could even read and write different files - allowing for a whole lot of different configurations to be saved. In the shipping examples, go to Fundamentals>File Input and Output>Read Configuration Settings File.vi and Write Configuration Settings File.vi to get a basic idea of how the functions are used.

  • Labview exe slow to start over network

    I am executing a Labview exe built in version 7.1.1 by running it from a local server in our plant. It takes approx. 50 seconds to display it's front panel. If I run it from my local drive it comes up in a few seconds. To copy the exe from the netwark drive is also quite fast, only a few seconds. I have seen this behavior many times with Labview exe's running from a network drive. Does anyone know why this is happening, and if there is a solution to this slow startup issue?
    Thanks,

    It's good to know it's not just me that has this problem, and I can run locally since we are doing CRC check on the exe before using it. I would still like an explaination for why this is the case with Labview exe's (or maybe any exe)?
    Thanks,

  • Loading new labview exe files from a running vi

    Hi! Me again
    I've been thinking about another way to reset my running application (some data doesn't get reset due to it being in a case structure...(see   http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=145525&requireLogin=False    for details   ).
    What I would like to do is to be able to open a simple menu labview exe file, while closing the main file.  This would enable the user to quit labview at the click of a button, or reload the main exe, freshened up , and then the menu closes.  I can get vi's to open and close but an exe file would be supurb, as it can be used from the start, without needing a run button.
    I've been fiddling with invoke method : open fp and loading a vi rather than an exe file.  I'm sure it can be done.  Bear in mind I'm a chemist, not a programmer, so some terminology may be lost on me, but examples are not

    Hi Fios,
    Why don't you just use the system exec.vi, found at All Functions >> communications >> system exec.vi
    then you just put the full path to the executable in "command line" and set "Wait until completion?" to False
    This will open your LV exe and then you can use VI server as you described in your post.
