Why can't I insert a 3D pdf file in an InDesign Document?

I am working on a presentation for a client and need to insert some 3D pdf files to it but I always get an error message from OnDesing.
What should I do?

Indesign doesn't support it. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/299199?start=0&tstart=0
You could add the 3d pdf pages after you've created the indesign file - using acrobat to insert pages.

  • Why can't I print out a PDF file when I am on Firefox? It takes me to Preview to print instead of staying on Firefox.

    When I go to a website that has a PDF file and try to print it, it sends me to Preview and when I try to print, the computer freezes up. This does not happen on Safari. Why can't I print a PDF file when I am on Firefox?

    To print a PDF, you need to use the print command from the PDF reader plugin instead of firefox's one. If there is no icons bar in the plugin, try right-click on a page from the pdf -> Print.

  • Why can I not make comments on pdf files?

    OK this has been driving me nuts for a couple years now.  I used to have an earlier versison of Acrobat Reader (5.0 maybe?) where I could freely highlight and make comments throughout the document--very easy and straightforward.  When I got a new computer I had to go version 9--and now I cannot highlight, undlerline, comment or do ANYTHING at all with the text--on the very SAME documents I used to do this on (and on new ones as well).  Commenting is never allowed on ANY .pdf file I have.  WHY has Adobe done this????   Do I have to upgrade to some commercial version or what?  Frustrated as hell with this huge step backwards that completely limits my ability to find information in documents quickly.

    You probably didn't have Reader before, but Acrobat, which is the non-free
    version that allows you to create PDF files and to make comments. With
    Reader, you can only create comments if this was specifically allowed by the
    creator of the PDF. If you want this functionality you will other need to
    ask the creator of your files to enable commenting in Reader, or buy
    Acrobat.

  • Why can I not print out a pdf-file (train ticket NS) when downloaded with Firefox? (file says (SECURED)

    When ordering and paying a train ticket by internet they send a pdf-file, which one must download and print. When downloading this with Firefox (from my e-mail account) the pdf-file says (SECURED) and I cannot print out the ticket (pdf-file). (Adobe program stops automatically).
    When downloading this same pdf-file in Safari, I encounter no problems.

    Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
    You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader application or set to "Always Ask" in "Firefox > Preferences > Applications".

  • Why can I not open an existing PDF file?

    I get the following message:  "There was an error opening this document.  This file cannot be found."
    I know that the file is there.  In fact, none of my PDF file will open.

    There was an option in the Old Keynote "Save new documents as packages". If it's off, the document would be automatically zipped. As a result, you couldn't "Show Package" on it.
    if you selected it, it would save as a package and you could "Show Package"
    This second one is what the new Keynote is doing and there's no option otherwise. SO, I believe you'll have to .zip the file yourself before emailing in order for it to send successfully. However, I'll have to play around a bit more specifically with the iPad interactions.
    OH, just thought about another option. Have you tried sharing via iCloud instead? It provides a link that can be pasted in an email and loaded from both Mac's and iPads (and PC's if they have a recent browser, it'll load in iWork for iCloud).

  • Why can't I print or download PDF files?

    I had Adobe Reader, and all was working fine.  Once I downloaded the trial of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, the opening and printing of PDF files became much slower, and now, I am unable to print PDF documents, and downloading or opening of PDFs from the web often doesn't work (seems to freeze up).  What's going on?

    I'm interested in the answer to this, as I am also having very similar problems.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat (we had XI) (in case of file corruption); I've checked if there's an update for our printer (a Brother) and installed it;
    We can print any Word document we like, but no matter what I try, I cannot print any PDF file. A message comes up saying "the document could not be printed".
    As we are a small business I'd appreciate a swift reply.
    Thanks

  • Place multiple PDF files (or a folder of PDF files) into one InDesign document

    Hi,
    I know there are several scripts to place multipage Pdf's in InDesign.
    Based on those scripts I made one myself which places a PDF file with multiple pages as an InLine graphic where the name of the PDF file is inserted as a heading.
    Works great. But when I want to import 20 PDF files I have to run that script 20 times which isn't handy.
    So I'm looking for a way to choose a folder in which are several PDF-files that will be placed inside 1 ID doc.
    Any suggestions?

    Use .selectDlg():
    function getPDFs(){
        var f = someFolder.selectDlg ('Select a folder')
        if (f != null){
            return f.getFiles('*.pdf');
        return [];

  • Why can't safari read web based PDF files?? in macbook air.

    I have been trying to solve this problem for a long time using methods used in LION, but i still can't get it solved.
    please any help is appreciated..
    best

    Back up all data.
    If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Why can't I print out downloaded PDF files?

    Such as medical forms, tax forms... It's making me INSANE. I purchased "Reader" among many other Adobe products, but still all I get is the word "error" in my printer queue.

    Assuming that you're talking about printing from Adobe Reader for iPad or iPhone, you either (1) need an AirPrint-enabled printer, or (2) (for the iPad only), purchase a third party app like Printer Pro from Readdle.
    Here's a list of AirPrint-enabled printers:
    A List of Printers with AirPrint (updated March 2013)
    If you're talking about printing from Reader on your laptop or desktop computer, you're in the wrong forum.

  • Inserting multi-page PDF file in Appleworks text document.

    When inserting a multi-page PDF document in an Appleworks text file, it only inserts the first page.
    How do I insert all the pages at once?
    Ron

    As far as I know you must break you PDF in single pages documents.
    Then you will be able to drag and drop all of them in a single process but it will be time consuming to move them so that they are correctly located in the layout;
    Inserting them one by one will be more efficient.

  • Script for Place PDF file into a InDesign file

    Hi everyone, i need to import a PDF file into a InDesign document and in order to do this i used scripts found over  the net (e.g. Zanelli's script ecc.) but i tried this solution:
    function(){
        app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.interactWithAll;
        var myDocument, myPage;
        if(app.documents.length != 0){
            myDocument = app.activeDocument;
        else{
            alert("No document opened");
            exit();
         if (app.selection[0] == undefined) {
            alert("Select box");
            exit();
         } else {
                var myPDFFile = File.openDialog("Select PDF:");
                if((myPDFFile != "")&&(myPDFFile != null)){
                    myDocument.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin = RulerOrigin.PAGE_ORIGIN;
                    myDocument.viewPreferences.horizontalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.MILLIMETERS;
                    myDocument.viewPreferences.verticalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.MILLIMETERS;
                    var myData = new Array;
                    myData[0] = app.selection[0].parentPage;
                    myData[1] = app.selection[0].geometricBounds;
                    myData[2] = app.selection[0];
                    myPlacePDF(myDocument, myData, myPDFFile);
        //FUNCTIONS
        function myPlacePDF(myDocument, myData, myPDFFile){
            var myPDFPage;
            var myPage = myData[0];
            var myGeometricBounds = myData[1].toString().split(",");
            app.pdfPlacePreferences.pdfCrop = PDFCrop.cropMedia;
            var myCounter = 1;
            var myBreak = false;
            while(myBreak == false){
                if(myCounter > 1){
                    myPage = myDocument.pages.add(LocationOptions.after, myPage);
                 app.pdfPlacePreferences.pageNumber = myCounter;
                 myRectangle = myPage.rectangles.add(undefined, undefined, undefined, {geometricBounds:[myGeometricBounds[0],myGeometricBounds[1],myGeometricBounds[2],myGeometricBounds[3]]});
                 myRectangle.clearFrameFittingOptions();
                 myRectangle.frameFittingOptions.fittingOnEmptyFrame = EmptyFrameFittingOptions.PROPORTIONALLY;
                 myRectangle.frameFittingOptions.autoFit = true;
                 myRectangle.frameFittingOptions.fittingAlignment = AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR;
                 myPDFPage = myRectangle.place(File(myPDFFile), false)[0];
                 if(myCounter == 1){
                    var myFirstPage = myPDFPage.pdfAttributes.pageNumber;
                else{
                    if(myPDFPage.pdfAttributes.pageNumber == myFirstPage){
                        myPage.remove();
                        myBreak = true;
                myCounter = myCounter + 1;
             myData[2].remove();
    what i would is, before the script place every single page of PDF file in the document, determine if the same page of the Pdf file is vertical or horizontal, to make the right section for the page.
    Is it possible?
    Thank you
