Why can't I install itunes on Microsoft Surface 2 (not a Surface Pro)

why can't I install itunes on Microsoft Surface 2 (not a Surface Pro)?

Because iTunes hasn't been written to support the processor and operating system used by the Surface.

Why can't I install iTunes on Windows RT? Is Microsoft deciding what software I can use?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Theoretically, Microsoft is deciding what apps you can install. In Windows RT, you can only install apps from the Windows Store and they must be ARM-based, things that Apple and iTunes don't meet, so you can't use iTunes in Windows RT

  • Why can't I install iTunes version 10.5 or higher? I've tried everything suggested on this forum, my friend has a mac and she can't either and it seems like the main problem is the apple Mobile device.exe wont install and applesync

    Hey anybody,
Neither myself (running on PC windows vista 32 bit) or my friend (on a mac) are able to install versions of iTunes around 10.5 or higher successfully. This leads me to believe the problem isn't necessarily with our computers and there may be something wrong elsewhere. I'm not a computer wiz but I have tried most of the advice on these forums e.g. Uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting temporary files, expanding files and trying individual downloads and more. I can install older versions of iTunes where they use to combine it with QuickTime with no problems however this is no good to me or my friend because only versions 10.5 and up come with support with iPhone 4S and that's what we need. I managed after several attempts to install iTunes 10.52 but without the apple mobile device so therefor the iTunes wouldn't connect to my phone or recognise it, apple sync notifier also has problems and fails to start.
Please can someone help me with this, I have tried everything on the apple troubleshooting pages so please don't link me those. Or please can iTunes and apple do something in an update that corrects this problem because I know many people are having similar issues. I only bought this phone for the music and at the moment I feel cheated because I wouldn't have these problems with any other phone because I'd just be able to drag and drop.

    Hi there,
I had the same experience. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, with Windows 7 Home Edition, 32 bit.
I tried to install iTunes 10.5 and it started installing, then, just before the end of the process, came up with the following error message:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Of course, no information on what the program that couldn't be run was! At first I tried the usual stuff, like scanning for viruses etc. but nothing doing. Then I started Googling. In the end, I uninstalled all Apple stuff from my computer. A lot of it I had to do manually, going in to the program files drive and deleting stuff from there, but some of it wouldn't delete as it was saying it was open in Windows Explorer. In the end, I managed to delete the iTunes folders by selecting one of my mp3 tracks saved on the computer and right clicking 'open with'. I then browsed my pc to locate the iTunes folders still outstanding and was able to right click and delete them that way.
Then emptied the recycle bin and did a restart before going online and downloading iTunes 10.5.
Thankfully it worked, but its taken me a good few hours and made me really quite tetchy! I've never had this problem before, so I hope this is going to be a one off.
One thing that doesn't seem to be working is that, despite how many times I tell it that my preference is for the iTunes Media folder to be located on my external hard drive, it keeps putting it back to the C drive! Didn't have that issue with the last version. Grrrrrr. Arrrrgggh.
Hope you manage to get yours sorted - this is affecting a lot of people by the look of things.

  • Why can't i install itunes and quicktime on my windows 7 64 bit pc

I have always failed trying to install iTunes to my Windows 7 64 bit PC. When installing it'll pause for a long time in this stage:
After a while it'll then show this message:
I tried it a couple of times and it always ends up like this. And moreover, when I tried installing QuickTime it ends up the same?
Anybody can help me with this???

    SAME PROBLEM I HAVE.

  • Why can't I install iTunes on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop?

When I go to the installation page and input my email address, the full page doesn't seem to load, but then I click on what I assume is the "download" button (though can't really tell because the pictures don't load properly) and nothing happens.  After a minute or so it just goes back to the iTunes page and if I click download it all just happens again.
    What am I missing?

Thanks, I found the link to the direct installer and installed it.  But when I tried to run iTunes after installation an error message occurred:  "Apple Application Support was not found.  Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTines, then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Same thing happened when I uninstalled and re-installed.
Can anybody assist with fixing this?

  • Why Can't I Install iTunes 10.5?

I recently tried to update Itunes 10.5 or the most recent itunes, and it keeps saying the fallowing:
" The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Then below it says: "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the stallation package 'iTunes64.msi' in the box below." I have the option to click okay or brows and no matter what i do another message pops up that says "The path.. blah blah blah, Cannot be found, verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package 'iTunes64.msi' in a folder from which you install the product iTunes"
NOW I did look up and find the answer to this question on apple support but nothing apple support told me to do worked. I did delete the program completely and removed ALL apple products from my computer i even went into my registry and manually deleted every trace left by apple and i got rid of everything but when i went to my "add or remove programs" Itunes was still listed and it would not let me delete iTunes, instead the same message came up even if i tried to delete it. I did try to look up the "Windows Installer Clean Up Utility" but apparently it doesn't exist anymore.. I am completely stuck on what to do, i tried to get ahold of Apple Support but that proved to be next to impossible, i waited on the phone for exactly 47 minutes on hold 90% of the time and when i did get ahold of someone they told me they were going to look for the problem and hung up after having to wait another 10 minutes..
Does anybody know what more i can do? I've tried just about everything.. and i'm really starting to loose paitence..

  • Why can't I install iTunes 10.5 on Vista?? Code 80073712

    Dear iTunes Team,
yesterday, I tried to connect my iPhone 4 with iTunes, but it didn't work...so I thought I should update iTunes to 10.5 finally for making it work again.
And suddenly after a few minutes of waiting during the installation an error occures many other iTunes-User also have:
"During the installation of assembling "Miscrosoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type"win32,version="8.0. 50727.762",processorAr chitecture="x86"" an error occures. For more information, see Help and Support."
I think it concerns with some Windows Updates, I couldn't install without getting error code 80073712.
I tried to install and deinstall iTunes 10.5 a few times..but it never works
and I did everything to get rid of this problem..
    -CCleaner (cleaning registery)
    -disabling firewall/defender/anti-virus software
    -disabling windows updates with "cmd."
    -virus check
    . etc
    AND it doesn't work!
Please Apple, solve these problems as soon as you can! I'm not the only one who's affected..
    Thanks a lot.
PS: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2

It seems to be an update issue under Vista. Therefore I would try to klick right the Setup.exe-File and then install iTunes with XP-ServicePack3-Compatibility (and as Administrator).

  • Why can't i install itunes 10.6 and safari on Windows7 64 bit

Installation gets error on install for itunes 10.6 and safari

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 80070246, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)
