Why can't I install iTunes on windows RT? Is Microsoft deciding what software I can use?
Why can't I install iTunes on Windows RT? Is Microsoft deciding what software I can use?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Theoretically, Microsoft is deciding what apps you can install. In Windows RT, you can only install apps from the Windows Store and they must be ARM-based, things that Apple and iTunes don't meet, so you can't use iTunes in Windows RT

I get this complicated error mesage and then the installer rolls back and fails.
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply. -
Why can't I install Itunes on Windows 8
Need Help,
I have a Dell XPS laptop that was running Windows 7 Ultimate with Itunes installed and running fine. I upgraded to Windows 8, installed all my programs... and finally at the end (last program I need to install), I go to install Itunessetup64 and the software install reverts with and error message.
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'microsoft.VC80.CRT. type= "win32" .version= "8.0.50727.4053" .publicKeyToken= "1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" .processorArchitecture= "amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80073715.
Again, Itunes was working before, I wish I had installed it before all other programs. I don't want to recover back from an image I took as Windows 7.
Please help
josehernandz27After spending an entire day on this issue, I figured out something that worked. After installing Windows 8 (64-bit) then Visual Studio 2012 (or 2013) then the latest 64-bit iTunes app, I got the 0x80073715 error.
What finally worked for me was:
1) Get all the Windows updates and hotfixes - especially the ones for Visual Studio.
2) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14431 and download the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update"
3) Only install vcredist_x64.exe.
After running these steps, I was able to completely install iTunes on my Windows 8 64-bit instance.
Hope this helps. -
I can't re install iTunes on Windows Vista- itunes error 7/Windows error 5.
I have updated my computer with Service Pack 1 & 2 for Windows Vista. For some reason Itunes was deleted and when I try to reinstall it I get a message "iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7, Windows error 5" I have done the following to try and remedy this problem:
1. Delete all Apple software (to start over and reinstall) - I cannot delete Apple Application Support (Access Denied)
2. Repair itunes - Same message
3. Logged on as Administrator and tried to take ownership of the file that denied permission - Access Denied
4. Tried to install MS .NET Framework 3.5 & 4.0: 3.5 was succesful but 4.0 was not - something went wrong in the installation.

Can't install itunes on windows 7 machine. I keep getting A message stating that I don't meet min. requirements, but the machine has more than enough. What do I need to do to correct this?
Are you trying to install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit machine, or vice versa?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
