Why can't I join clips?

I split my clip in order to change the cropping from one to the next. Now I want to undo this and join the clips again but the option is grayed out in the menu.

I am not totally sure you have answered my question. I understand d/ling Squared 5, but what format do the files need to be in order for me to edit them in to a movie? Any ideas of why they won't work as a .mov?
I downloaded Squared 5, converted to a .mpeg and the same thing happens. I drag and drop, the importing box flashes for a split second, then nothing happens. No media appears in the box. This is really frustrating, considering it should be an easy to use apple product. Is there another program I should be considering?

So it sounds like you're dragging from the source monitor and not from the project window. Either way, is it creating a new sequence for you when you drop it in over the blank timeline? If not what IS it doing? What version of pr are you using?

Why can't I import clips with foreign character file names?

I've got a series of clips with foreign character file names that FCP will not let me access via the Import->File method. Some of the offending character sets include Chinese, Arabic, and a couple of less well known Unicode sets like Cherokee and Inuktitus.
What's interesting is that I can easily drag the clips onto the TL manually via Finder, but not File->Import. Also, XML passed to FCP that includes foreign character file names is ignored. Seeing as FCP is an Apple product I would have expected proper Unicode support 4 years ago.
Obviously I don't need a workaround per se... But I'd very much like to know why this is the way it is. We're developers doing development work for FCP so it's important for us.

Why can't I find clips that have been disconnected? I know they aren't deleted, but have been moved. Searching the HD doesn't find them.

I opened a FCE doc that I had worked in within the last week, and found half the clips in the projects were mysteriously disconnected. I assumed I had inadvertantly moved a folder, or renamed it, so I did a search on my HD for one of the disconnect clips to locate the file. No luck! Searched another. Nothing. I KNOW the files weren't deleted. Why don't they show up in a standard finder search? Help!

I have always struggled with FCE's automatic generation of folder for certain files. I learned editing on Adobe Premiere and like the new file set up procedure better there. You choose your codec, your scratch discs, and all details associated with the project and decide where they all reside. Then (and here's the best part) it sticks with the project. You open a project from two years ago and it still remembers where captures go, renders, all of it. With FCE, you have to remember to go into System Settings and reset the scratch disks for the project, or it will use whatever was the last project's settings. Right?
Anyway, related to this annoyance, I recently found the autosaves for this project randomly sitting in another project folder. I think I just deleted it, thinking they weren't important since I still had the original, and would be doing more work on it. Could this be at the root of my problem?

Why can't I drag clips from my source window to my program window on Premiere CS6?

I am only able to drag clips from my source window to my timeline, but not to my program window. Anyone know what the problem might be?
Also, the "insert" and "overwrite" buttons are not working from my source window, nor are their shortcuts ("," or "."). I think the problem with the insert and overwrite buttons is related to the reason I can't drag clips from my source window to my program window. Why can't i join a wireless network with my iPhone 5s

I have a very hard time connecting to wireless networks. My wife has the same model with the same settings and her phone will connect every time.
I always get the message, "unable to join the network "x"". I have done all of the steps that I can find listed on the support sites, turn off the wireless, forget the network, reset network settings, and turn off the phone.
Can anyone help?

I have the same issue. My IP5 has always had weaker wifi than our IP4, Ipad mini and Ipod. Now its to the point where i have to be in the same room as my wireless router in order for my IP5 to connect to wifi at a useable strenght. While my other devices still have the same strong reception.
Tried resetting, restoring, router reset.... nothing helped.

Why can't I import clips?

Today we were in the desert taking some photos of a suspension tuning session with a onboard lipstick camera (basically it mounts to the vehicle and allows you to see axle and suspension movement). I downloaded the files from the memory card straight to my PB in hopes of editing this footage with some from a miniDV cam from a different angle to make a short movie of the test session.
Anyway, files downloaded to my Mac as .MPG. I tried to import them to iMovie by dragging and dropping and it shows the import box for a split second before it dissapears, but no media apears in the pane. Since I have the MPEG-2 addition to my Quicktime Pro, I saved the file as a .mov. I tried the same drag and drop, and again, smae results. No media appears in the pane. What is goign wrong, any help? Thanks, this is my first attempt at movie editing and playing with iMovie.

Why can't I drag clips into the timeline in Premiere Pro CS6?

Why can't we delete clips from previous projects when I start a new project?

We have tried eveything... but there is a red line above the clips and they will not delete or move to the trash or anything. please help.

Unfortunately, if you want to see the new project dialog at the start of each new Premiere Elements 11 or 12 project, you are going to have to open a new project and go to File Menu/New/Project each time to get the new project dialog. All this before you import your source media.

The very first time I used the software, I was presented with the settings box, probably to establish the defaults.
By setting box are you specifically referring to the new project dialog that you worked with in version 9.0/9.0.1?
This automatic setting of the Premiere Elements 11 and 12 project preset based on the first video drag to the Timeline is great in principle; however, it does have its shortcomings. When it is wrong, it does not give you the closest to what you should have. It gives you its default NTSC AVCHD Full 1080i30 or its PAL counterpart. In versions earlier than 11, the default project preset is NTSC DV Standard or its PAL counterpart.

There is no workaround that I have found to give Premiere Elements 11 and 12 that earlier than 11 project preset handling.

Why is it, again, that I can't drag-timestretch clips and make them and snap to rulers? (in MT)

How come while 1'm holding control and dragging the edge of a clip to timestretch it, I can't make it snap to the rules, If I want to say bring it from 6 bars back to 5 bars why can't the timestretched clip snap to the ruler while I'm stretching it?
The Automation not being able to keep up continues to annoy me, and prevent me from creating certain effects on a couple of tracks, is there any effects arrangement (multiple efx perhaps) that anyone knows of that will create a tremolo effect that you can regulate with the settings? So I can bring the volume up and down fairly rapidly in rhythm?

Why can't I import an iMovie clip (.MOV) into iTunes?

After importing HD video (from a Canon Vixia HV40) into iMovie 11 (v 9.04) at 960x540 resolution, you get a bunch of .mov files. Does anyone know why those .mov files, as they come out of the import process,will not import into iTunes?
Here are the details. My brother wanted to put a small one onto his iPad. I told him the simplest way (or so I thought) to do it would be to import the .mov file into iTunes (v 10.6.1) and then sync his iPad. There was no need to make a project from the single clip, then share it. However, iTunes will not import any of the .mov files made with the iMovie import. Does anyone know why? This happens on my iMac (core i7) and his (core i5). Of course, if I open the .mov file in QuickTime Player (v 10.1) then export to a .m4v file (export setting "iPad, iPhone & Apple TV"), the new file imports into iTunes just fine. In case iTunes thinks you shouldn't be importing clips from the iMovie events folder, I dragged the clip to the desktop and tried the import, but that did not work either.
I guess what this comes down to is given that iMovie, QuickTime Player and iTunes all come from Apple, why can iMovie and QuickTime Player read the file while iTunes cannot? I would think the same code would be in all three products (do the iMovie and QuickTime Player developers refuse to share, while the iTunes developers are lazy?).

I had this problem also, only the .m4v files could not be imported either! The strange thing was I was able to do this task with other home vids in the past without issue. I simply shut everything down and rebooted at this point as a last dithch effort to avoid a trip to the Apple store and then it worked - itunes was able to accept the import.
