  • Why can't I log-in to my Apple account from my IPhone or desktop

    This post has nothing to do with operating/understanding my IPhone. Rather,it's about my Apple ID.
    I've been trying since "time immemorial" to log-in to my Apple account from my desktop and IPhone. Impossible. Everytime I try from my desktop, it says the ID or password is incorrect. When the Sign-in page opens, my default email is already there. When I type in a password, it always says the ID or password is incorrect. If I click on Forgot Password, the next page show Email and Answer security question options to reset the password. I've selected the Email option about 6-7 times in the last 24-36 hours. So far, I've not received an email with instructions on resetting my pasword. Nothing in my spam folder either. If I select the security question option, the next page comes-up and says Your session has timed-out. Try again. A couple of times, it took me to the two security questions, I answered them and it says the info doesn't match what Apple has.
    If I click on Create an account, as soon as I enter my ID (email address), it says that ID is already in use. If that is so, WHY am I not receiving the emails, on how to reset my password, that Apple supposedly has sent?
    I've also tried to log-in to the ITunes store, from my IPhone, to download a free app and I get the same thing - ID or password incorret. I managed to be able to log-in to the ITunes store from my desktop without any problems.
    What I'd like to know is, what in h___ do I have to do to be able to log-in to my Apple account from my desktop and IPhone?
    I'm at the point that I'm going to just get rid of my IPhone and go to Samsung. I'm sure I would get better service, support wise, from them.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    BTW FYI I had to create an entirely new id/password in order to be able to get into this forum.

    Sorry I did mean to say Hub I know about the Hub working without being logged in its just that:
    A) when I contacted BT (last Friday) they said that the order had not completed yet.
    B) Because of logistics I needed to set up the wifi as soon as I could (its a long story) and something told me to get registered before I tried the Hub in case I had a problem getting connected.
    I have tried to contact BT again today and have been on "HOLD" for at least 2 hours finally when I got speak to someone I was told he would have to connect me to a colleague then put me on "HOLD" for 15 minutes then when I was connected to his colleague after telling him all the problems I was cut of I thought that the guy would have had the decency to phone me back but NO so I had to go through all the rigmarole of waiting to try and speak to someone again after being on "HOLD" for 45 minutes I spoke to a lady who said that the problem had been passed to the technical team and that the gentleman I spoke to on Friday should have told me 2 working days and not 48 hours.
    The nice Lady said that I should hear something tomorrow (Tuesday) personally I am not taking any bets on it.
    Why do these company's like BT promise the Earth and deliver nothing if some one from BT had the decency to return a call and say sorry the problem is being looked into I could have accepted that.
    Had a problem with BT in the past when a unknown trailer became dislodged from the towing vehicle the trailer then felled the Telegraph pole carrying our line when we contacted BT to report the "fault" they said they would run a check on the line, they then said the line was working fine and that there was no problem???
    Had to wait 28 days for the pole to be replaced.
    DS I will go with your idea and send the details to the modarators.

    Every time i try to use messages or iCloud and i put my apple id in it trys to validate, then shows a message saying it cannot validate my apple id yet i can still log in to apple store and iTunes.  Why can't i use this apple id for messages?

  • Why does iTunes repeatedly think I'm logging in with my Apple ID from a new computer?

    To start, I figure I should give a little background... I have three computers authorized for use: Home PC, home laptop and work laptop (all Windows).  I also have my iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini authorized as devices for use.  I do 90% of my iTunes purchasing from the work laptop.  I'll launch iTunes, attempt to purchase a song and go through the usual of logging in with my Apple ID... no sweat.  Unfortunately, sometimes I'll get a subsequent screen stating:
    "Because this is your first time making a purchase from this computer, you must verify your identity by answering the following security questions..." 
    The thing is, just two days prior, I purchased songs from iTunes on this laptop!  I know that answering the questions shouldn't be an issue, but unfortunately, I tend to forget the answers (Sorry, I work for an Internet-based company, and we use A LOT of passwords and set up a bunch of security questions). 
    I'm just curious why iTunes thinks I'm using a "new" computer... Does it also use the IP address from which my requests are coming, for validation? (Apple ID Login/Password isn't enough security?)  As I go between WiFi to an ethernet-connected docking station intermittently at the office, I can see how IP addresses might be rotated.  If this is the case, will this impact the "five system authorization maximum" (i.e., is iTunes adding new systems to my "authorized list" each time this happens)?
    In a time of constant hacking and Internet security weaknesses, I figure I should be happy this is in place... I gues I'm just looking for some answers.

    Hey there Vernholio,
    It sounds like you are repeatedly being asked to authorize your computer even though you have made many purchases oh it from the iTunes Store. Generally this issue is caused by permissions or restrictions on the user account. I have 2 articles to recommend for you here. The first is:

    And to answer your question about whether or not the IP address changing might count against your authorization limit, no it will not. iTunes uses the computers installed hardware and software to keep track of that. Check out this info about authorization and deauthorization:
    Remember to deauthorize your computer before you sell it, give it away, or get your computer serviced. Also, make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations.

  • Why can't I log into iChat

    I am new to iChat.
    When I log in, I get an AIM window. I don't understand why I get an AOL window when I am in iChat...it is very confusing.  When I try to make myself available in my AIM window, it asks me to log into my mac.com account (my login ID is already put into that field).  When I enter my password, it gives me an error message saying either my user name or password is incorrect.  I tried entering it a number of times but it didn't work.  So I went throught the process of resetting my password.  Once it was reset, I tried to log in again but I keep getting the same error message.  My questions are:
    1. Why can't I log in?
    2. Why, if I am using iChat, are all of these references to AOL?
    3. In my Status command in the iChat menu, it shows I am available. Available for what?  My AIM window is saying I am offline.
    4. In the Accounts command in the iChat menu, it shows me as logged into Bonjour and then my email address twice.  Right below that it gives me the option to log into my email address.  Right above that it is telling me I am already logged in.
    This is all so confusing.  I use Skype and find it simple.  I use a number of IM apps and find them simple.  I can't figure out iChat.

    If you have Opened iChat for the First time then you will have filled in a Account/Screen Name.
    This should have Logged in to the server.
    If it didn't, you should have got a message about either the Name or the Password being "wrong"
    This may leave you without the Buddy List showing.
    In this case go to the iChat Menu (That's the one that drops down where the word iChat appears in the Menu bar)
    Go to Preferences and chose Accounts.
    Highlight the Screen Name on the left.
    Now on the right make sure Account Info is the tab that is highlighted.
    Tick/Select the box that says "Use this Account"
    This should make th Buddy List at least start to appear. It will just be the header part and will say the word "Connecting..."
    If this does not work, and you get another message about the Password or name then go to the Server Settings tab in the Accounts part of the Preferences.
    Change the default port (5190) to 443.
    Reselect Use this Account in the Account Info tab again.
    Most routers have the ports from the beginning to port 1024 Open by default.
    Web Browsing and mail Ports are this low.
    ( I am presuming you have looked and sorted the Mac Firewall)
    If you now have  Buddy List you have logged in.
    You can now Add Buddies.
    (this presumes you have sorted any issue with the Password being too long).
    If you are now logged in you can Text chat as well even if you have no Buddies in the Buddy List.
    You can use the File Menu > New Chat option if you at least know a AIM name or one that is a Valid AIM Login name.
    The chances are though that you will not be able to File Transfer, Audio Only Chat or Video chat.
    This is because at present we have only moved the Login port to lower than the threshold of blocked ports in your Router.
    The other ports iChat uses will need to be Opened.
    At this point it may pay to tell me the make and model of the Router so It Can suggest steps to take.
    Also what do you know about setting up your routers for Games or applications that use Ports above 1024 ?
    NOTES:-
    Having an open Buddy List and using the red Button top left will close the Window but not Quit iChat
    To get the Buddy List Back go to th Window Menu in iChat and either select your Screen Name (Or AIM Buddy List) or use the Key Strokes listed (Normally Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) and the 2 key together).
    Using the red button on any Chat Window (Text, Group, Audio Only or Video Chat) will end the Chat and close the Window.

  • Why can't I log into WiFI?

    Why can't I log into WiFi with my Ipad Air all of a sudden?
    WiFi is turned on.
    Under settings ... it shows the network Im trying to log into ... and in the column   to the right where it lists the various networks, it shows the network i want and a little wheel thingie spinning beside it ... but it just keeps spinning ... so it looks like my Ipad had found the network ok, but wont log in.
    Any thoughts?
    Under HTTP proxy ... ive got it set to auto ... is this correct?
    Everything worked fine until today so maybe Ive altered some setting without realizing it.

    Try this:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

    Why can't I contact You with ACTUAL FEEDBACK? Why does Firefox Vers 28 allow me to download complete webpage files but Vers 30 does not? Plugins, Addons, Internet Security are all the same on both systems. I can download the files in IE but not Firefox. What gives? I use NoScript, Better Privacy, Ghostery, and Kaspersky Internet Security configured the same on both systems. The only reason I checked is because on certain sites, I can't download files and the view completely. Firefox Vers 30 will download but not create a complete html link in the directory so that I can open and view the file.

    Wow I logged into my account here & could not find anywhere to help everyone with the Firefox 32 update patch or whatever that was.
    The update failed over & over & was just trying to tell anyone that if you download a fresh copy of Firefox & run as administrator install it overwrites the files & updates.
    I don't see why there is not an easier way to contribute like "A BUTTON" that says help Firefox or "Report a problem" or give help whatever. I'm outa here this is ridiculous. I even wanted to be a beta tester & there contact and communication with the team is WOW impossible !

    How are you verifying it?  Are you responding to the email that is sent?  If not, do so.
    If so, then try changing your password.
