Why can't I login into my Apple account without being forced to change my password.

I received an email from Apple:
"The following changes to your Apple ID (xxxxxxxxxxxx) were made on 01 January 2015 at 17:52:54 (GMT):
Shipping and/or billing address.
When I log on to check my Shipping and Billing address I am prompted to change my password, which I do NOT want to do.
I cannot go any further than the forced password change screen.
How do I check my account details without changing my password?
I am not happy with being forced to change my password. it almost makes me wonder if I have been redirected to a 'scam' site.

How are you trying to log into your account ? You can log into an account :
- via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com
- Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes
- tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store on an iOS device
All three let you view and/or change your billing address, though only the last you let you view payment details. You could try one of the other methods and see if they let you login without requesting a password change.

If you want to check your account's purchase history then you can do so via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or you can view the last 90 days purchases via http://reportaproblem.apple.com

    I am having trouble logging into the App Store or iTunes on my iPhone 4s.  Last week I could update my apps but now I keep getting the message:  Can not sign in.  Unknown error has occured. What do I need to do on my phone to correct this?

    I tried that.  I also tried the troubleshooting methods; making sure my Wi-Fi was in range, etc.  I still get the constant error, Can Not Sign in to ITunes, and error has occurred.  I don't want to reset my whole phone because I have too many contacts and other items that would be lost on my phone. 
    It was just fine a few days ago but now I keep getting the same error message every time I want to upload an app or update an app.
    I think I may have to take it to an Apple Store to talk to one of the techs there because nothing is working.

    You must have had find my iPhone on, or it was locked by your phone carrier.
    Call your our cell carrier first.
    then log on to a computer to iCloud to erase your iPhone.  
    NOW... You will be able to setup with a backup.

    First question that I am not clear on your answer about: Is the Apple ID itself a valid email address, and the same one that you have as your Primary email address on your account? If the actual Apple ID is not an email address, then that is why you are not able to sign on to iCloud or to verify it....it must be an email address.
    If it is an email address then:
    Update your OS to the latest version - 10.8.5
    Once you have updated, reboot the Mac and then go to Preferences>iCloud and try to sign on with your Apple ID again.
    Check Manage your Apple ID to make sure that your Apple ID/Primary email address is verified.
    If the problem persists, contact iCloud Support to see if they can provide you with an explanation of the meaning of the message. If the Apple ID has already been verified, then I'm not sure why you would be getting this messge:

    If you don't want to use a credit card with the App Store and iTunes, there is a very specific way in which you have to create the Apple ID. If you don't follow the steps exactly, you are forced to put in credit card details in order to use that ID. The other option is abandon that ID and create a new ID.
    Frankly, I hate the way that Apple handles creating an ID without giving users the option up front - in clear and uncertain terms - to create an ID without using a credit card. You have to search for the information in order to find it.
    If you create a new ID, you will also need another email address to use now. Something else that makes this an even bigger PITA. This explains how to create the ID without a credit card.

    Every time I try to log into my Adobe account the little wheel spins and spins.  Right now it's been spinning for 10 minutes.  The log-in email and password are correct and I get no notice that the user name or password are incorrect.  I have to change the password every time I log in.  And why do I need to log in to download Camera Raw 8.2 anyway?

    That's why I ask users to try other browsers. We want to isolate the problem. That puts your OS, Internet connection and Adobe's web servers in the clear. It also allows you to log in to Adobe until either the problem clears up or until you check FireFox's support forums for best troubleshooting practices.
    Firefox has been updated to 24.0 for Mac and Windows today. I don't know if that's done anything, but I'm not having problems logging into Adobe here.
    Off hand I can't tell you what's wrong and I don't want to tell you do anything to FireFox if I don't know.

    Ignore the continued pop ups by using 'cancel'.
    Try to purchase a free item. If you are successful then you are logged in to your account.

    In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
