Why can't I login to iCloud on the PC?

I have a Windows 7 machine, and have installed iCloud Control Panel to take advantage of the brave new world. In particular I want the photo stream to work.
Install was not a problem, but when I come to login it just stops- forever- with no response and a spinning dial to indicate waiting.
Nothing seems to fix it- whether disabling the firewall or uninstalling/reinstalling, rebooting, or that netsh command that someone keeps posting as an answer. Its not an answer- it doesn't make this work.
Come on apple, surely this can be fixed?

Yes, I am experiencing the same issue of getting an endless spinner upon login to iCloud from my Windows 7 32-bit PC. I get no error message even after letting it spin for 6 hours. I too have reinstalled iCloud PC and run the suggested "netsh winsock reset" in other posts. Nothing seems to work. I don't even think the login credentials are leaving my machine beacuse if I put in the incorrect password, it does not come back with an invalid login error. I think the application is reaching out to a destination that does not exist and waits endlessly for a response. Would appreciate other suggestions.

First question that I am not clear on your answer about: Is the Apple ID itself a valid email address, and the same one that you have as your Primary email address on your account? If the actual Apple ID is not an email address, then that is why you are not able to sign on to iCloud or to verify it....it must be an email address.
If it is an email address then:
Update your OS to the latest version - 10.8.5
Once you have updated, reboot the Mac and then go to Preferences>iCloud and try to sign on with your Apple ID again.
Check Manage your Apple ID to make sure that your Apple ID/Primary email address is verified.
If the problem persists, contact iCloud Support to see if they can provide you with an explanation of the meaning of the message. If the Apple ID has already been verified, then I'm not sure why you would be getting this messge:

Why can't I view my icloud backups on a new apple device using the same icloud id? Unluckily I lost 4 iphones in 2 yrs. all had same icloud acct on them, so when i log on to locate my current iphone on my macbook or on new iphone, it shows a list of all the lost iphones and their data take up.
When i click on settings on my ios> go to icloud > storage & backup> manage storage:
LOST IPHONE 1- 4.5 GB DOCUMENTS & DATA : it shows PREVIEW 1.2 MB PAGES1.6 MB TEXT EDIT91.6 KB PHOTOS 3.2 GB
LOST IPHONE 2- 3.2 GB DOCUMENTS & DATA: it shows same thing just different gb's mb's kb's
LOST IPHONE 3- etc.......
but you can't click on those documents & data to show what exactly they are so you can move them or save and delete. If I go into icloud there's nothing there from that long ago. is that data deleted? if i were to get that certain iphone back and turn it on would the pics, docs still be in icloud? it says all that room in my icloud is still taken up so where can i view it?? anyone know??

If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!

I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

Not sure what you've tried so far to connect. But, make sure you have an Internet connection and log into iCloud with your Apple ID/password from System Preferences/iCloud.
If the OS X you're running is prior to 10.7, you won't be able to use iCloud as this feature was added to OS X beginning with OS X Lion (10.7).

What browser are you using to log in to your brother account? It could be a problem with some settings within your browser that is giving you grief.

You are not doing anything wrong. Unfortunately, that's just the way that the built in mail app works. It really is a basic no frills mail app with not much to offer compared to other apps.
There are third party apps that let you create groups and email to those groups. I don't use either of these, but I've seen them recommended here in the past.

They normally deal with iTunes and app store issues, but they should be able to tell you if there's an issue with your iTunes account that is preventing the purchase and how to correct it.

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know, but according to reports, it can sometimes mean that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a no-charge service.
Otherwise, do what the alert tells you to do. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID" as the product and cite the customer code in the alert as the "validation code" to the representative.
