Why can't I make alias to server

Previous versions of the Finder did let us make alias on our desktop pointing to server's share and folders.
I know you can make a stack in the dock but aliases were so convenient!?
This can't be done anymore why? When will this feature be back? It ain't such a complicated feature after all. Plus I find this rather unpleasant to see Apple remove feature such as this. We want more, not less.

I am also having trouble with this: I am accessing a shared file server at work, and trying to create an alias or stack to access it directly from desktop instead of having to open finder, click "All" under Shared, find the server, etc...
It's not a big deal for me, but I need to find out how make it convenient to access this for our other users.
You mention making a stack - I was not able to do that. How did you go about that?

the iPhone uses active sync. Desktop clients do not. Desktop clients use another exchange protocol (which i can't remember as i'm not a microsofty).
Just because you can access via active sync doesn't mean you can access it by other methods, and vice versa.

Why can't I make a disk Image??

getting Leopard tomorrow. system working great. plan to do an "upgrade installation". backed up all my files (106GB) to an external HDD. so I think I'm ready....
question is - why can't I make a disk image of my "Macintish HD"?
it starts to create the image but Disk Utility comes back and says "Unable to create disk0s2.dmg. Resource busy."
I thought it might be a good idea to do a "complete system backup" just incase something goes wrong with the "upgrade installation".
Since it didn't let me, I just dragged-n-dropped the Users folder to the external HDD, so I got my files backed up.
curious why I can't make a disk image of my WHOLE HDD. can someone enlighten me....

It was a simple fillcolor with opacity. It is as if it doesnt respond. I can clic the symbol for a new layer, but nothing happens. I've dragged the style from appearance-box, to symbol for new style - Nothing. I've dragged the box directly to Graphic Styles - again - nothing. I've tried with my CS4 that worked. But not in CC.

It's not obsolete as much as the first gen simply lacks the power to run the newer operating systems. IT doesn't have enough RAM. If someone managed to hack it to get iOS 6 or 7 on there they'd just have a slow, boggy and unresponsive device. (think putting windows 7 on an old laptop.
Unfortunately software moves faster than hardware. Every thing goes obsolete. I've had my ipad 2 for two and a half years now and I know it only has so much longer left to it too. Just the 'joys' of advancing technology.
